- Sending a Happy New Year hug in the form of song to my friends around the world from myself and little “Jaco”, (who demanded an appearance in this one). PDF with TAB and 3 hour full video course breaking down the concepts and improvised solo at -- flatfiv.co/pag...
I always thought that Hoagy Carmichael's “Stardust” was one of the greatest standards of all time. Hard to believe that it was written in 1927!! I've added some modern touches to the harmony, but wouldn't dare touch that perfect melody. Thanks Hoagy! - เพลง
A gift to the world. Astounding version of this standard.
The vibe is excellent
Just an amazing arrangement! Wow! Great on so many levels.
Masterful arrangement and playing, sir.
I'm slowly learning this. Absolutely beautiful.
Very good, the most enjoyable thing this week so far, perfect.
This stands as a high-water mark of solo jazz guitar, it is that good-- an astonishing tour de force of adventurous harmonic ideas, chromatic counterpoint and flawless execution.
I'm pretty sure you didn't leave one fret on the table. A real pleasure to listen to. That arrangement would take me 20 years to come up with.
Thank God the world is finally getting to hear more of your great solo guitar playing after me first hearing it about 25 years ago in your upper west side appartment!
it's all about you isn't it ?
@@kellmerWF52 Lol...He played solo guitar for me during a guitar lesson in 98' or so...(I saw him open for Steve Vai(1993) before he even played Jazz. I remember he wasn't keen on doing solo guitar back then. I encouraged him to do more of it and very happy he's doing it!!!
@@cuoredibue4180 Um, I grew up in Miami,Fl. and I'm 48 years old idiot,.
@@kellmerWF52 you got him

Beautiful arrangement ... pure mastery and deep musicality. Crazy right hand control and flawless, effortless fingering. Thanks for sharing. Made my day
Miami represent. Saw him open up for Steve Vai in the 90's in Ft. Lauderdale. Jonathan was this good back then. Went to Gulliver high school with his brother

Amazing as always!
Beautiful as always!
Wow! I can't wait to dive into this on Explorations
Amazing playing!
That sound!
When a gig in Sicily - Catania?
Beautiful as always.. Great
Simply phenomenal! Nice to hear the verse included. That old ES-175 (I think) sounds great, are you using a larger #1 string? I don't understand what you're doing harmonically...but I find it surprising and interesting nonetheless. Thanks for posting! :)

Great job!
Great arrangement. I like the different chords used. Quartal harmony?
Correct me if I’m wrong it that appears to be a well played Gibson L5?
No, it's an ES175 model.
Superb👌
What is that white thing on the pickup, and what is it for?
I think he put it there to protect the pick-up being scratched from his strong picking.
Or het wrote the notes of the strings on it 😂
I live this guy, always great and tasteful playing!
@@jjevanos hehe! I saw him live once.
@@jjevanos to keep the pick from clicking on the pick up cover. he also might have unspotted Pickups depending on what year that guitar is and they sound great but they click because there’s no wax in them so that’s what the cloth tape is for.
Ah interesting! Thnx.
❤happy new year my friend!
Near perfect balance per string. You changed your pickup?
Wow, so rich and inventive!
Best 175 tone ever!
incredible
the dogy!! jajaj
My fav from New For Now!!!
Just Amazing
Top 5 best version of Stardust actualy
Alongside Tranes version
Lovely!
Awesome!!!!!
Genial
Perfection
I had been discovered that the more fancy you try to be the more ordinary sound, just in my ear. I will apply it and try to better play as simple as possible. to avoid this confusion unnecessary that make the music sound backwards, in my ear. Just a humble comment that I will apply for now on. I am always trying to find something for my arsenal. There is always room for improvement. FTW.
That's insightful and rather the same conclusion I reached. Lavish embellishment and complexity is part of the higher bar setting of guitar playing in the "chord melody" space these days. But the melody can be suffocated by chords at some point even when played in steady time. Eric McIntyre's rendition of this piece illustrates what I am trying to say.
Wonderous
Wow!
Beautiful. 🥲
a huge respect. 🖤
Amazing
Smooth as fuck and lush as hell chords.
It's great. Was it conceptualized at the piano?
Tone comes mostly from a players hands... that guitar sounds damn good tho
You erased my comment, why? You only keep comments that stroke your ego?
@@The_Christian_Influence The one below that is upsetting some of his fanboys. I posted the comment again after it was erased.
To my ears, a lot of what this guy plays sounds like exercises. It's very different from the more natural and organic playing you hear from guys like Bill Frisell.
What a dumb comment. You can prefer someone else’s playing but saying someone else is more natural or organic….this is music, not a health food store, dude.
and you like a troll Mr thinklikeshit
You should work on your ears then. With all due respect to Frisell, this is on another level.
@@bostonmitchl2778 This is not on a level higher than Frisell. I'm a professional musician that graduated from Berklee 20 years ago, and I have perfect pitch and high degree of relative pitch. You're clueless.
@@MrThinkingahead Out of all guitarists out there why did you choose Frisell to compare him too? Also why should anybody care if you have perfect pitch, and what does that have to do with musical taste/choice?
Wow!
Beautiful!
