I thought I would watch only ten minutes of this interview, and here I am almost through the whole thing, and I wish there was still more to the interview. It's difficult to get tired of his voice and what he says. He is such an inspiration.
What a breathtaking interview. DDL is just something else... And kudos to the interviewer, one of the most most nicely conducted interviews I've ever come across.
everytime I see any of his films, or interviews I admire him more and more. I think there isn't an actor who has fascinated me the way DDL has. He's such an amazing, interesting, admirable person.
His amazing dedicated ability combined with humility restores my faith in mankind..He is a true gentleman combined with complete rebel..an irresistable combination...God I love DDL!!!
Whoever you are EmmaGennaro, thank you so much for this. I am a 35 year old actor and writer from the North of England, with only occasional success - but this interview, with such a dedicated professional, such as Daniel, in such a good rapport with the interviewer - makes it all worthwhile. Thank you again.
true intelligence and integrity is not aquired through schooling or university grading - it lies within the heart . . . and the human instinct is the pathway to that place in the heart . . .courage is needed to stay faithful to that instinct . . .people like daniel day lewis have remained faithful in that respect!
My goodness, it's one amazing thing coming out of his mouth after another!! Daniel Day-Lewis is honest, so humble and incredibly talented. What a truly beautiful person he is.
He is truly an artist, he has a confidence in what he wants to do, and does it well. He is not afraid of what he might discover along the journey of life.
Oh, dear Lord, I love this man. This is my favorite interview with him because he’s more relaxed than in any other I’ve been able to find. Delightful in every way. I play this interview almost non-stop, just to listen to Daniel’s beautiful voice.
Most charming and adorable man on the planet, and almost never moreso than in this interview, where he’s relaxed and seemingly enjoying the conversation.
Because he is an extraordinarily intelligent person, and if you just focus on his choice of words; you would see how different he is from all of us ( well, most of us, at least ). I mean I don't know if I could keep up a conversation with him without constantly asking myself, ' what in the world is he talking about' or paralyzed by the way he speaks. For instance, how many of us actually use the word ' eclipse ' in our everyday conversation? Not many, I reckon. That's what I'm talking about.
Incredible accent. The dominant part is an english sound but there's an undercurrent of an irish accent. Especially words that end with t. Brilliant actor.
Penso di averlo già detto: quest’uomo è ineguagliabile. È un attore unico, irraggiungibile,ma è anche un uomo estremamente gentile, umile nei fatti, autoironico, riservato. Io non ho più parole e infatti ora taccio. ❤❤❤
Well said. he is'int in your face all the time, so when he does a roll you know its going to be great and value for money. His new movie should be class, He even looks like the guy in it.
@anetchi I totally agree. He is truly a beautiful person. What a great interview. There are just not enough superlatives to describe him. I could die happy if ever I could meet him.
He seems so genuily sweet.Hard to believe he can play hard core caracters such as Bill the Butcher or Daniel Plainview. He should do INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO someday.
from what Ive read: the role in Philadelphia (which Tom Hanks won an Oscar), the role of Aragorn in Lord of the Rings.. I forgot the other ones.. DDL is a very hard man to please :) mainly becs he has other hobbies aside from acting
Total respect to the 'Day!' A living Legend! Just wish he'd do more movies. But that's just like asking Maynard J Keenan to make more TOOL albums. tic tok...
@EmmaGennaro Hey, thanks for uploading. Inspiring man. Do you have the one with scorsese? I remember watching it a while back on youtube but cant find it now. Thanks
@ConwayJCalvin No problem.. I get where you're coming from. They all bring their own qualities to the table and to their roles. I like PSH a lot. I don't know I just really really like Daniel Day Lewis. When I first saw There Will Be Blood I couldn't stop watching it. I watched it 30 times. Gangs of New York too. I didn't think the movie was all that great but he was breathtaking in that role..You should watch Sideways as much as you love wine. It's all about mixing wine and philosophy.
@spxeli I don't think he ever did say it. I didn't write that Phillip said it. He probably would never. Seems like a humble guy. I've heard others say it and I don't agree. I like PSH a lot. Just because he's not as good as DDL doesn't mean he's not great. The Rolling stones were a great band but they weren't in the same class as The Beatles. The only people I think are in DDL class were Marlon Brando and Robert DeNiro in their prime..That's it. Just my opinion.
@ConwayJCalvin You must not have read my message I said "IN" my opinion Daniel Day Lewis is the far greater actor. I never said 100% true. In "MY" Opinion its 100% true. There's nothing PSH can do that DDL can't do. Nothing unless the role demands that you be short and chubby. I'm being serious. PSH is a great character actor like say Gary Oldman. "Spending time deciding and analyzing" Isn't that what you just did. As with the wine. I think you've watched Sideways one too many times.
I like Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but I get pissed when he is mentioned in the same class as DDL. Daniel Day is the very best there has ever been in my opinion. Marlon Brando is in his class Robert DeNiro is in his class. Not PSH. I don't think.
This was before There Will Be Blood and Lincoln, just imagine how much longer the interview could run if this happened after those movies...
I thought I would watch only ten minutes of this interview, and here I am almost through the whole thing, and I wish there was still more to the interview. It's difficult to get tired of his voice and what he says. He is such an inspiration.
He has the greatest smile.
Giddy and child-like, isn’t it??!
if anyone ever wanted to know definition of class then here it is because this man is class
What a breathtaking interview. DDL is just something else... And kudos to the interviewer, one of the most most nicely conducted interviews I've ever come across.
He's so engaging. It's baffling how someone can be mesmerizing by just having a conversation. Such a brilliant man.
everytime I see any of his films, or interviews I admire him more and more.
Such a sweet and intelligent gentleman. And so, so beautiful... seriously one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen.
One of the most fascinating and intelligent interviews I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot.
Whoever you are EmmaGennaro, thank you so much for this. I am a 35 year old actor and writer from the North of England, with only occasional success - but this interview, with such a dedicated professional, such as Daniel, in such a good rapport with the interviewer - makes it all worthwhile. Alexander Mayes I hope your occasional success became a permanent one
he's such a gracious, yet a very humble man. Absolutely classic!! Thank you for sharing.
I've enjoyed this interview so much. Beyond words. Thank you!!! Daniel Day-Lewis is irresistible.
you are irresistible as well haha

Total legend.

True
he really is an incredibly engaging person. i was hanging on his every word for that whole interview.
Most charming and adorable man on the planet, and almost never moreso than in this interview, where he’s relaxed and seemingly enjoying the conversation.
he seem very expressive in this interview and are there tattoos on his arm
He is the finest actor i have seen, true genius
WOW This is a great interviewer! And of course a sublime Daniel Day Lewis!
He's lived. You can tell.
Prob Mr.Lewis is one of the greatest actor in last 30 yrs
i have only 1 question.
Why is he so humble?
Because he is an extraordinarily intelligent person, and if you just focus on his choice of words; you would see how different he is from all of us ( well, most of us, at least ). I mean I don't know if I could keep up a conversation with him without constantly asking myself, ' what in the world is he talking about' or paralyzed by the way he speaks. he's still in touch with reality
***** was that in response to me?
+HarryVictor Sean Penn seems like a dick.
Because all trully great people are humble
i agree with the cuddle instinct. perhaps he would whisper wisdom to me and i would become a genius like him. haha
loved this interview! such a great exchange! Clapping to both of them.
Standing ovation. Well deserved.
Magnifico!!!
sometimes you think what the hell is he talking about, but then his shear brilliance sticks out
Daniel Day Lewis great actor
Thanks a bunch for this!
Incredible accent. The dominant part is an english sound but there's an undercurrent of an irish accent. Especially words that end with t. Brilliant actor.
I always enjoy listening to DDL talk, he sounds so kingly or something.
Awesome interview, thanks for sharing :)
Thank You Sooooooo much!
thank u so much for posting this, he is such an inspiration
great interview
Brilliant smile! 💘
Best actor alive!

A true artist.
I agree with Daniel the interviewer was wonderful.
thank you
My Champion - The second greatest actor to have ever lived.

HA, i'm in love with this man, period.
I wish he would have given a Bill 'The Butcher' impression during this interview. That would have been awesome!
Non so più che aggiungere, è magnifico, e la voce??
from what Ive read: the role in Philadelphia (which Tom Hanks won an Oscar), the role of Aragorn in Lord of the Rings.. I forgot the other ones.. DDL is a very hard man to please :) mainly becs he has other hobbies aside from acting
Tesla, Einstein, Newton, Lincoln, Gandhi, Mandela, Pele, Ruth, Cruijff, Daniel Day-Lewis.
Total respect to the 'Day!' A living Legend! Just wish he'd do more movies. But that's just like asking Maynard J Keenan to make more TOOL albums. tic tok...

id.love to know the 24 moviee he turned down

I would love to have a beer with him but i would be way to intimidated.
Nah

Why doesn't he teach?! I would love (love isn't a strong enough word) be taught by this captivating creature.
