    "Odd" and "crazy" should be descriptions of a song called Psycho Killer, but please don't let that define the band for you. Talking Heads are in the Rock & Roll HOF. In the late 70s, when disco became the trend, TH, along with bands like Blondie, the Police, and the Cars helped start,(genre police be nice)"new wave" with a punk rock influence. Yeah, influential implies there were others like them. But, I think the Talking Heads were uniquely singular.

    • @JeffWheezingGrampusGoddard
      @JeffWheezingGrampusGoddard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelb1761 that's true, but I think their influence lies in letting people be inspired to be a bit more out there, front people who revelled in their own peculiarities maybe. Bands like the Jesus Lizard, or Pissed Jeans, Sloy etc. Maybe anyway. But you're absolutely right there's no one like Talking Heads.

    The French section was translated by someone for David, and talking about how he delivered the lines years later he's embarrassed by how badly he pronounced them.
    For me, it just adds to the frantic mad charm of the song.

    David Byrne is a musical genius, literally. He used to be a little (a lot) weird in the 80's due to his Asperger's and probably lots of cocaine... Then you have Tina Weymouth, legendary bassist that learned to play bass with this band, and Bernie Worrell, legendary keyboardist from Parliament-Funkadelic... Stop Making Sense is widely regarded as one of the best tour movie ever. You should watch Once In A Lifetime live, the Stop Making Sense version, and fall in love with this band... Or This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody), or Take Me To The River, or Life During Wartime, same show... In fact, you should really watch the entire movie... lol

    Hmmmm, I do generally like these two, but man the Talking Heads went over their heads. The continued laughing creeped me out. Anything that’s outside the Box Lex calls it weird or strange. I’d argue art like this is original or unique, although I think she never got that it was written in a imagined first person voice. Maybe, if they listened to more Talking Heads they’d have a better understanding but a group who met at and formed at the Rhode Island Institute of Fashion might be too much for these two to grasp. They have a deep, quality catalog that doesn’t fit the norm.
