To each their own, but after watching your trip video the gear choice I would make is swap out the snow shoes for your choice skis and skins. Much better performer in deep snow (imo). Less physically taxing in general (imo). Love your gear.👍
I was definitely asking that question to myself once we were on the mountain...would love to have been able to try that set up and see the differences...
We did a trip this winter with my 27 degree bag and my 40 degree quilt (as well as my OV booties & hood) - I actually had the bag partially open to keep from overheating on a night that got down to about 14 degrees.
It's crazy how warm stacking bags can be! Besides adding up the down fill weights, there is an extra warmth from fabrics and additional gaps created in my opinion...
Awesome gear video 👍 that was a very cool hike in that deep snow always enjoyable. P.S. ordered 2 of the stretch pillows thanks can't wait to get them 👍 be safe on your adventures guys.
Great breakdown Tayson. I like your sleeping bag/quilt option. Makes a lot of sense. I've got a great system, works down to those temps but its bulky and heavy. I still can't believe you went into those temps with everything in a 40l pack. Respect. Nate
Thanks! Yea I just contribute it to the amount of trust I've built in my gear...suddenly you realize what you need and don't! Ultralight products help though! haha
I follow everything, how did I miss the new hoody? You skated over it too?!?! I’m gonna need a part time job at OV to keep up!! Vest looks amazing too!! Can’t wait to get mine when they drop!
I'm not sure if it has already been asked but how much did that weigh? I'm a beginner backpacker and all my gear plus backpack weighs 33lbs. That's with a 3 liter water bladder and an extra water container for the sawyer filter.
I liked it a lot! Perfect for me wanting to go as light as possible on a solo trip. I need to get a bigger shelter though for when I'm teaing up with someone or wanting a community area at night!
You need to be bringing a big fat ribeye or T bone steak when you in those temps.ultralight should be the gear ,never the food.much love and respect from NC,you should be eating large amounts of protein to stay warm.thanks for the great vid,and take care
@@thetaysonwhittaker totally do it,you have too.bring a chunk of meat out, you'll be living large, and it's a way to stay warm digesting some heavy prorein.and you will catch a whole other group of viewers.
@@thetaysonwhittaker you already have the gear viewers, bring In the campers too with some cooking, and with the tenkara rod you carry ,do some catch and cook,it will never detract from your UL channel it'll just include more people.
always nice to see someone who walks the walk instead of just the talk.

@@thetaysonwhittaker I made the switch years ago and never looked back. Now only use snowshoes as backup.
Awesome new gear coming up is so awesome!!!
Yep, we are stoked to release it!

@@thetaysonwhittaker found them! Got to have one!!
You could add an ice axe loop in the center of your pack. That is wear most companies put them.
Awesome thank you

Which Komperdell treking poles are those, exactly? I've heard you mention how awesome they are on another video.
KOMPERDELL C3 CLOUD
What’s the risk for co2 poisoning with a wood burning stove? Is everything vented out through the flue and fresh air come in under the tent?
Great kit Tayson. On a side note your team’s customer service is second to none. Thanks
What about the stove though,
Is your stove a small or medium?
Mine is actually a large! Brigham uses the medium or small though.
VEST!!!!!!!!

I honestly might consider something like this...I have wondered if people would be interested in me cooking something like a steak out there...
