Steve Aoki: Stopped drinking after DJ AM’s death

- DJ and musician Steve Aoki recalls befriending DJ AM, whom he described as a man at the top of the industry with surprising humility. Aoki says he and DJ AM’s eventual partnership caught the interest of star performers and the Hollywood elite, including Daft Punk, Kid Cudi, Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Later, Aoki reveals how DJ AM’s death in 2009 motivated him to end his pre-show drinking habit.

I hate getting drunk but I can relate . It’s fun and enjoyed it when I went out with friends but the feeling afterwards is not worth it . My max is two drinks and that’s it
Adam was the best. and Humble as hell. He was a truly amazing guy. I miss that guy.
Major accomplishment especially in that industry. Not only around it but hes an icon and can probably get whatever he wants. Thats gotta make it super difficult with all the temptations.

@@roccop913 There are a lot of negative side effects of alcohol to the body. Long-Term Health Risks. Short-Term Health risks but over time, excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of chronic diseases and other serious problems including: High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and digestive problems. Cancer of the breast, mouth, throat, esophagus, voice box, liver, colon, and rectum. One my own personal fear when I was drinking was blacking out & driving and killing an innocent person or family and paying the consequences for the rest of my life. Totally not worth it. These are just a few. Please if your drinking be smart enough to have a designated driver after a night of drinking thank you! 🙏🏽
Congrats man! I’m working on myself now. 3 days sober. I know that’s not good but it’s a start!

I remember my dream back in the day was to be on Deckstar which AM and Steve founded.

The Invisible Skratch Pickles was the best djs at that time, I remember back when DJ AM was heavy he was still super ill back then he was “the king” of mashups ill say that idk about the best dj on the planet during that time tho

He was the first million dollar DJ. Tiesto is a music producer turned DJ.
No disrespect to whoever DJ AM was but I've been djing since 1991 and I have never heard of DJ AM. He is certainly not the "biggest DJ on the planet" by far.
He had his place in music history. I think Aoki, Travis Barker, etc were close to him so they all speak highly of him.

If thats what u guys call a DJ then what can i say. At least AM was a seriously fucking good DJ skill wise. But as mentioned before - biggest DJ on the planet? Pure hyperbole...
