  • My review of the Mercedes AMG C63 (W204 model, produced between 2008 and 2015). With its naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 could it be one of the last mainstream European cars fitted an engine of that size? The next C63, due later in 2021, will not have a V8 at all, and will be powered by a 4-cylinder hybrid engine.

They 6.3 was used to commemorate their very first production V8 engine, the 6.3lt M100.

if i remember correctly the M100 was a 6.28 ltr engine which is why the w204 is referred to as a 6.3

The 6.3 is a tribute to the 300sl 6.3, the first hot AMG, they know the engine size would get smaller due to super chargers etc. and there for the tribute

I'm sure I read somewhere that in Germany cars are registered according to their capacity.
So to register as a 6.2litre the engine, it would have to be no more than 6.2L.
    Can onyone confirm this?

@@danielbob4310 yeah i did! it really is a fantastic car for general purposes.
I only drive it on the weekends so the gas milage isnt a huge concern, although if this was your only car you might want to factor that in as it does chew through a bit of gas and the tank isnt that huge. I would say im averaging around 300kms a tank.
The handling and ride are firm, not boaty at all and it handles itself well on the twisties.
Overall its a great car, and will make going back to a ''lesser'' car hard if i ever decide to sell it.
My only complaints are that mine doesnt have an lsd, and they never made them in manual.
If i was going to sell it, it would only be because i wanted something manual or to put towards my house deposit.

@@beyondthelol Thanks for the info. I will be using it as a daily drive up to 45km per day. As a TH-camr once said, life is too short to drive boring cars.

Why do you moan about Mercedes rounding up for the engine then you round down in the 0-60. 4.88 is 4.9 seconds not 4.8

The "moaning" is very much tongue-in-cheek although, judging by some of the comments, maybe it doesn't come across as such!

Do the research mate. German law requires engine sizes to be rounded up only.

Si chiama 6.3 anziché 6.2 perché vuole rendere omaggio al primo V8 mercedes aspirato che era un 6.3 lt....
