With the new Patch SoM (Seal of Martyrdom) is a really good single target choice to boost your dps! Try to get Crowd Pummeler and get a lot of procs together with Art of War. You can also go 5 Points in imp. BoM (Blessing of Might in ret tree) with this instead of 5 points in Benediction.
Fantastic guide man! Seriously, I really mean it. Ive been doing research and some things that people are saying just hasnt made sense to me. Everything you cover in this video makes absolute sense. Keep it up!
Very nice guide, I've seen a few out there that didn't make sense, as they were missing using seal of crusader in rotation or any points into the talent for it. I would think that for min/max, unless you have another paladin in group with 5/5 improved might, that it's worth taking a few points out of benediction for it. This because if your are at fight length where mana pot is not enough to maintain rotation, then the kill time is probably not fast enough for a really good parse anyway.
Yeah, I was also thinking about 5 points in imp. Might. But tbh i dont want to drink mana pots like Energy Drinks and i dont want to suggest that. As you said, for absolut min-max it is probably worth it
the top paladins right now are using Martyr btw, idk where this misconception that Martyr isn't good keeps coming from. Even in phase 1 it was barely behind Divine Storm on boss fights, and with the 10% buff to the swing damage it even pulls ahead in the same duration of DS's CD. Not to mention it works with Wild Strikes so you are getting double the hits with it on, moreso if you are twisting with righteousness. Divine Storm is still decent, and great for cleave, but Martyr is just simply better for ST and boss fights, and if you are with a feral with wild strikes can even pull ahead of DS with good procs.
I think once you get a fast weapon like Crowd pummeler, that is when seal of martyr will really pull ahead for single target. In conjunction with art of war, you'll be getting a ton of exorcisms.
@@JFarenci You have to factor in more than just SoM into it. He is using a different weapon than other top 4 and the chicken attackspeed trinket from Gnomeregan. You also need to compare dps from Divine Storm and Seal of Command vs. SoM. We simply need more data atm to really see whats better :).
Exorcism should be the first button pressed in phase 2 due to the crit proc chance, you want it on cd as soon as possible and can be casted at range, so you initiate the fight with it. Then you can cast your seals.
awesome guide. I've always wondered however. most ret's use exorcism in pve but why not avenger's shield? the combined DPS output of AS on cooldown vs exorcism far exceeds exorcism since it tags a total of 3 mobs. Unless if with the new runes critting with exorcism can exceed the damage output of AS (have not tried it myself).
Thanks :). With new Buff Exorcism is also a viable option for PvP. Its also good in bgs with resets. Play what you pref here :). In PvE Avenger's Shield has a simply too long cd. Not worth it. Exorcism is big damage for us.
Exorcism runes will net far superior dps than avengers shield with melee crits resetting exorcism cooldown, however, avengers shield is still totally viable for PvP for the slow effect to help you catch people or create space for you to heal, I still prefer exorcism myself though
@@josephbetle6850do seal of martyr crits reset excorcism cooldown with art of war? Moreover can you seal twist martyr and righteousness every 1.5 seconds if you're weapon is 1.5 swing speed? I play horde so I'm curious.
@@ForbiddenFollyFollower in theory you could twist w a 1.5 speed weapon but it’d be really hard to pull off at that speed, imo atleast, more experienced paladin players may disagree on that but idk, and I actually haven’t used martyrdom much yet but I’d assume that marty crits would reset exorcism CD, I’ll do some testing and find out forsure
I still don't think Art of War rune is buffed enough it needs to make the reset cast free and/or refund mana in the ammount to make the first Exorcism cast free. Cause even with Blessing of wisdom on and Crusader Strike I can still go oom easily. So i've elected to stick with Guarded by the light. its mana regen is just too good, just sucks you can't cancel aura the regen to get a full heal off
The art of war makes you oom before any bossfight ends. literally 0 chance to keep casting until the end. Its a big dmg loss on singletarget, but manareg works much better on those long bossfights, as melee gear has 0 int on it until BWL comes out. Pala really needs alot of work compared to the other classes, just like it always has been.
@@WhiterWoW But you can get it with the minor speed to boot enchant. No point in getting the speed increase for PvE (talent). Minor speed to boot is game bis enchant for all melee.
Use Seal of Martyrdom instead of Divine Storm, if you have mana problems. Use SoM instead of SoC and skip DS in rotation. You can always use Guarded by the Light for infinite mana, but it reduces your damage by a lot.

You can use SoM, of course, if you prefer it. But in top 5 of Ret parses, 4 are using DS and 1 is using SoM atm.

Why avenger shield in pvp instead of exorcism pls explain if you have time,ty. Good work tho
You can play both, but AS helps against kiting, so you can connect to targets. We miss mobility as Ret and this helps a lot.
Which Stats are inmportant for Ret?
Strenght-->stamina->agility?
Stat priority: STR > AP > Crit > Agility > Hit > SP > Stamina > Int in this order.
Can you give me any info on pre bis gear for ret

What swingtimer are you using, or is that just a WA? If it is could you link it? Looks really clean.

Why are you refreshing SoC at step 6) in the PvE rotation?
Because you judge it and Seal Twist. It gets removed by this
Why put 2 points in movement speed increase if it doesn’t stack with world buff from Darnasus ? I figure out those pts into might ? Right ?
You cant get the buff from Darnassus anymore, if you are level 40
