I actually think she's annoying too. The guy was trying to watch and listen to the whole video, and she was up there yelling and talking very loudly.
The analysis is so much because the complexity of Mariah's voice, let alone her whistle register, is peerless. If Mariah Carey is a subject in music course, it can consume an entire semester to get fully studied or even more. There is so much wonder in her voice that pushes human boundary to limit and caught vocal experts off guard.

Mariah also do polyphonic whistle- singing 2 notes at the same time. Just search for videos. What I can suggest is the one from manila. That was too clear. I think its chest and whistle tho hahaha

That's not just bc of nodules, polyphony does happen a lot when you use the whistle register and you can actually manipulate it but it's very hard.
Darren Sar actually she does do it sometimes on purpose to add that extra flair.

Thanks for that great reaction!! Fun fact: Mariah actually classifies herself as an alto. She can go down there. When entering the music business, after being a backup singer for Brenda K Starr, she wanted to make a name for herself which meant fighting for that place against singers like Whitney, and many others.
Alto isn't a vocal fach, it is a part in the choir, but she is clearly a soprano with extended lower notes and they are very nice, especially for a soprano but not where her voice really shines, she starts to lose projection and support down there where a contralto would shine, but just being able to go down there as a soprano is amazing. A real contralto is actually kinda rare and can even sound androgynous like Cher or brazilian singer Ana Carolina. Mariah's headvoice is kinda underdeveloped though and maybe that's why she would take the alto part in a choir, just an speculation though.

I've never heard Mariah's whistle sound squeaky. She's always on point. It's like she learned whistling using a whole different technique. Them other singers who have so much vocal breaks more likely learned whistling by extending vocal breaks and squeaking. .

Minnie riperton is the first woman to ever bring the whistle notes into r&b and pop in the 70s and 80s. Then came Mariah who basically improved whatever Minnie had established. Oh Minnie is the only one who sang silent night all in whistle
This makes her incomparable even with Morisette. Also, aside from Whistles, MELISMA is a technique she is famous with.

What’s also interesting about Mariah is that she really is almost a SELF-TAUGHT vocalist. Her mother only taught her things like how to breath and harmonize,but everything else Mariah learned seems to be just by ear. She truly is a freak of nature with that range,melisma,transitions and control. She’s arguably the greatest pop technician since Barbra Streisand.
It’s not even just experience, a lot of these examples were when she was just starting. She’s a vocal beast.
