Apparently the only use for the Rusty Charm is in this battle, that's it. It reduces the damage you take from him by 50% But since he's so easy to "fight" there isn't much use for it regardless. Seems a bit lazy.
With a new upcoming expansion I’m really interested to see how Thalamus’s role will affect the story. In game he was just merely introduced that there is such a fearsome cosmic entity, no info where and when did he come and who is he in real. Hope will some more of him
Given how this thing is intentionally trying to drive immortals insane for shits and giggles (while doing a mortal run, you can't even enter the Corpse City Ylnoth, much less fight Thalamus), it actually has some parallels to Nyarlathotep, one of the few Eldritch deities to actually want to cause us misery. Most of them do so by mere coincidence, like Azathoth, who is too braindead to do anything by choice.
It it so fuckin has dark atmosphere specialy that questions choosing with those ambients music.. i love it. Can someone explain me what changes that choice options there?
I mean... It would be better if you could somehow damage Thalamus instead of being a survival test. Once you know what to do the actual fight doesn't even lasts 10 minutes.
I havent even played the game but they are just daunting. They can just close their hand at any moment and you're dead. You didnt win. They let you win
The achievement you get from this fight actually says 'escaped from Thalamus'. Not defeated Thalamus, but escaped. I imagine there will be more stuff about him in the expansion.
He's the manifestation of the fear that inhabits all human beings after they were tainted by darkness (aka when Satan corrupted Adam & Eve), Death is unaware of it's existence mainly because it's older than him.

@@shangaiify Are you sure about that? Because I remember seeing statues of Death defeating someone that looked like Thalamus somewhere (Caer Shorai, I think). Not to mention, if you go with Acolyte of death and the Inquisitor kills you, Death mentions she's a loyal follower. I think Thalamus is the creator of the source and Death knows it, but the only way he has to oppose to him is to use fire against fire, hence Sorun's immortality.
As someone who has never played or heard of this game this guy looks lame. I mean all he does is throw stuff at you and spawn enemies which is kinda underwhelming
Probably because that's literally what he's doing. He's not fighting he's just fucking with you to the point that one of the biggest debates was whether or not this entire part of the game was real or a hallucination. Pause during it and the menus are insulting you and if you quit the title screen is replaced with his hand. Theres also some hints that he also messed with the main villain and his face is also hovering in the background before the final boss. His voice is also in the tutorial thing in the overhaul update that was added 7hours ago.
I just played this part and I was blown away. This is one of the most creative boss fights I've even seen.

While I do like the whole lore and the emotion of this... Thalamus straight up sucks as a boss fight.

The voice acting that he has keeps me going. He sounds really awesome. Also, just get low fear and you can skip Thalamus.

Gameplay wise this sucks but even on repeat playthroughs it's so damn good with Thalamus design and the entire setting of it.
Only fun boss in the game imo. It reminded me a lot of Omega Flowey
