  • BMW E60 with the complain of malfunction in the A/C system . From time to time , air conditioning compressor is disengaged . After little bit of research , we find out , that the outside temperature is directly related to the AC compressor operation . So let's locate and test this sensor and see , is everything fine with it , because for sure , the temperature is not -40 C outside , right now .

We in UAE love your videos and learn many things please keep on making more videos for the same car, we have many problems in the same BMW 2005 e60 cars but no good technicians here. Thanks 👍🏻❤️🇦🇪

This is the most informative video about the bmw ac system. You guys show everything a person needs to test this. Thanks so much.

Great video as usual, pretty informative.
I just want to make one clarification. On E39, or at least on mine(facelift), the AC depends on the outside temperature sensor, as on E60. Maybe on E39, it depends on which AC unit is installed because there are at least 2 of them.
When mine was reading low temperatures, below 0 and then the AC wasn't turning on, and when the sensor readings raised above 5 degrees the AC was starting to work. I was going to change the sensor when I saw that the wiring was bad near the sensor, fixed it and I had no problems till now.

Like all the cars , the most common place is the filling valves , not sure is this the right name . The place where you fill the refrigerant (low and high pressure side) . And like on this car and few other E60 the main leak was from the AC compressor shaft . Hope this is not your case . Good luck :)

I have same problem the scanner shows outside temperature as 0° C and the instrument cluster shows a correct reading of 33° trying to figure out what's wrong... The compressor cuts off as soon as the Evaporator temperature starts falling... How come first it was showing 15°??

Показва ли го и на таблото че е минус 40 както в програмата с която четеш или там показва коректно?

Where does the sensor wire connect to the DME at? Mine ripped out, I am trying to find where to tie in the new sensor wiring. 2008 550i msport.

Hi I have a e60 550i my ac blows cold only about 10 to 15 % of the time and how it acts is it's cold then all of a sudden starts blowing warm or normal air then cold then warm back and forth the cold moments can last from 2 minutes even up to an hour the on and off gets annoying . Do you have any insight on what I am dealing with I checked I drive settings freon and oil and my compressor I see it runing

Mine does the same but if I set it to max ac, it works no problem. Try that and see if it works. I suspect there is a bad sensor and when max AC is used, it ignores the sensor input

i think I have a similar issue illustrated in this video, i have a 2008 528xi, when I click on auto and regular a/c is on, it doesnt blow cold air, the only way I can get cold is air is when I press Max A/c which blows extremely cold air.....u showed the outside temp on your diagnositc tool showed -45 .....I was told that sensor also would show the outside temp on the dashboard.......did this car show -45 on the dashboard outside temp too???

Hello there, how did you resolve your A/C issue? I also have BMW 528xi and exact same issue that a/c works only on Max but now cooling is gone even with Max. Your input will be much helpful, thank you

      Hello Matt !
It is hard to tell you what can be the problem . It can be a lot of stuff . Without diagnostic tool and doing some testings on the car , it is impossible to find the problem . Good luck :)

Колега аз имам е39 ка и ми показва -40 ако изключа датчика и меря кабелите трябва ли да направят верига и ако не направят означава ли че имам проблем в тях?

    • @crank3646
      @crank3646  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Не трябва да ги окъсиш и да почне да ти показва +50 градуса , някъде вътре на таблото . Ако ти го покаже , значи датчика е заминал , нямаш проблем в окабеляването .

I have an E60 that says - 40 degrees and the AC works just fine. I know my ambient temp sensor fell off, it's not where it is supposed to be but still my AC is as cold as ever. So, that's not necessarily correct.
