Imo, I think the 80's were the most ambitious decade. Things like synthesizers and electronic drums were first becoming easily accessible, and it really changed the way people made music.

I love playing linear stuff like these, thanks Jeff for today's practice material! It's actually surprising how well these beats hold up in the studio. Every couple of bars you replace a note on the hats for a bell and you're golden.

Just realized you are using the butt of your sticks on all these. Is it both sticks or just left? Hard to tell. It definitely seems to alter the sound in addition to the other things you did. Excellent ideas and video.

Thanks Morgane! I put some towels inside my hi-hats to muffle them a bit and loosened my snare. But that’s it. Those drum tortillas work well!

Beat 7 could be a cool fill as actual half time right?

I put some Big Fat Snare Drum mufflers on them! But you can also use towels, ext.

I added some 'delay' to the drum mix which is what you're hearing.
