You should check out Kien Tuong on Chrystie Street in Chinatown. It is by far the cheapest full chinese restaurant in chinatown. full portion of beef lo mein for $6. rice dishes in the 4$ zone. If you go during lunch hour, theres a 3 selection meal for $4.25 which is literally 4-5 pounds of food. I have been going there since I was a kid and love the place. The waiters and waitresses are super friendly too.

I have never had a hard time finding cheap food in NYC. May not be at a sit down but there are plenty of good cheap eats. I got a bagel and donut the size of my head for $2 once.
