Apparently Carini was a great friend...not. I can't stand looking at the guy now. He's got money coming out of his ears but Roger didn't see any of it. Outrageous. Roger was the whole show.
Roger was the real deal. Racing and a mechanic during the best years of motorsports. I always looked forward to seeing him on the show. He should have received more credit and payment for his contribution. I hope he is doing well.
A lot of speculation going on here in the comments. Who cares how you feel about him, or what you think his contributions were, or weren't, this was a good show that dealt with a lot of cool cars, that's why it was still on after the name of the network changed three times..
Yes. These narrators must live under a rock. They flub every single video by pronouncing something wrong that we've all heard a million times. How do they do it. No brains?
Loved this show, avid viewer and the guys in the show and the cars were amazing. Very disappointed to be told here that Roger was seemingly not getting his due recognition for what he contributed. Hopefully he will be doing OK and we may even get to see him in future episodes!
A collector car sitting in Ma Frikart's garage covered in quits is just that. It takes ability and skill to repair, clean up, and market what would remain a piece of deteriorating iron, etc. If it's that easy we would all do it. Good for him.
I love cars and seeing how passionate Wayne was for all the vehicles he'd find and restore. His mechanic, Roger, was incredible. Seems like Roger knew how to fix any engine.
I absolutely LOVED this show. The cars were the star of the show and one was more beautiful than the other. I wish they would have gone into more detail about the cost of restoration
Unfortunate that sold vehicles quickly appreciate in value and the original owner feels "ripped off", but understandable as they were advertised by the new owners. Always enjoyed the show especially when Roger was involved, and when Wayne shared his new acquisition with his daughter.
In this day and age, even if you knew nothing about cars, you could spend 30 minutes doing a casual valuation of an old car sitting in your deceased loved one’s garage and at least have some idea of its worth via multiple, free internet resources. I have no sympathy for anyone in the internet age for feeling ripped off because someone with more knowledge about YOUR property low balled you. Businessmen like Wayne are not in the business of caring for people and their possessions. He is looking to buy low, spend as little as possible to prepare or restore the vehicle for the auction market and then sell it to the highest bidder. For every car we see Wayne buy and flip on the show, there’s 20 where he tries to get his hooks on it but the seller knows what they have and won’t allow Wayne to buy it at what he’s willing to pay because he needs to make his money on the back end.
I learnt a lot about the American car industry watching this show. It is a pity like all good things it has to eventually close. I see the Briish have been envolved in auctioing off the cars. Gooding and Company being a good example. It is differcult to understand Roger and Wayne could not get on with one another off screne. The prices wanted for the cars are well out of my range but it gives you a good insight as to how the industry works.
I was a big fan of this show. One of the highlights for me was Roger’s input. I thought he was a mechanic par excellence and very charming and funny. His skill set is invaluable. It’s always difficult to comment on the politics behind anything really because you don’t know what was agreed between the parties before the show went out. There was a lot of similar controversy when Edd China left Wheeler Dealers. That said, I hope he is now in rude health. I think that Roger could have hosted an excellent show on his own, giving people tips on car mechanics for their classics, in his inimitable style.
🤣 Everyone sucked in by some TH-cam video, with AI voice over claiming to know what Wayne is like 😂 I've met both Wayne and Roger at his shop a few years ago now. Wayne always looked up to Roger as Roger was racing when Wayne was a young and their friendship is genuine and more a mentor friendship. Love how people force their opinions on someone by watching TH-cam videos, yet don't know them, never even met them but always thought they looked dodgy 🤣
Great show, (watching in UK) so laid back but so skilled. True enthusiasts featuring many interesting vehicles of all kinds. Sorry to hear of Roger, yes, for sure wish him better and "all the best". Looking forward to catching up again soon. Best to you all,
Met Wayne at the 2023 Detroit Concours where he was a judge. There are different ways to meet folk, and there was an empty spot at our table at a casual buffet event lunch... Wayne approached and asked if he could join us. Sure! was the reply, and , for the next 45 minutes, we got to chat with Wayne about all kinds of subjects, mostly cars of course, and had a great time. I got the impression that the shop was doing fine, and Wayne was relaxed and enjoying himself. My take is that he is an ok guy....loves cars, and swapping car tales....hope the show continues and Roger can at least make cameo appearances.....:}
loved watching the show. No drama and fighting in the shop. Sad to hear about the way Roger was treated. He is a treasure in the car knowledge world. If this is true, then I lost respect for Wayne because loyalty to employees is a must.
Nobody except the most unobservant intellectually-delinquent could for an instant think that Wayne did it all by himself. But as a knowledgeable ringmaster who knew every job even if he didn't do them all himself, he "ran" the circus just fine.
Same as most they realize their business is more important than some channels TV Show. Same reason TV Chefs disappear at some point they want to be a chef again.
Wait! What?! The story I had heard was that there was a one off special show about the Monterey Concourse de Elegance and that Wayne was shown as an expert in vintage cars as just a part of the show. It was from that experience that Discovery decided to highlight Wayne in his own show.
I'm surprised to hear that Roger Barr was not compensated for his time and work on Chasing Classic Cars. Even for a reality show the main characters who appear regularly and contribute to the shows success should be compensated. Someone had to be making money on this program for it to continue for so many years....
One of my favorite shows. I imagine this is just a click bait story. Sure getting a lot of “experts” commenting about that which they know nothing of. One commentator who has met them both and been in the shop said Wayne greatly respected Roger and considered him a mentor. So the rest is just fizz bait for suckers.
We all loved Roger because there was a genuineness to him. Wayne on the other hand always came across to me as an opportunist. He never revealed what he paid for any vehicle for a very good reason. He literally stole many of those cars while portraying himself as caring, fair minded person. Sly as a fox I would say. Too bad some of those sellers were widows who bought his schtick hook line and sinker. Many of them would say something to the effect that their husband's classic was going to a good home. Perhaps but not until Wayne took a tidy profit as the middle man. And, how he treated Roger was enough for me when I found out. That cheap SOB took full advantage of a classic in Roger.
One of my favourite lines from Roger was when he was working on an engine he got it to fire up & said somewhere out there is an environmentalist with a migraine & doesn't know why! 😂😂
The bottom line according to quick shift, Wayne (the guy we haven't heard anything from) is a cold hearted stingy self-serving kind of guy. But hey maybe we can see him again in 2024.
Old car game fell prey to the flippers and people with way too much money. The bottom line is overpriced when real modern muscle cars are there for the buying and future rarity. Not only that, with factory A/C, cruise control, heated seats, satellite radio, airbags, real performance suspension, who needs the old cars except the rich for their collections ?
Interesting, you do wonder how much production companies have a hand in the problems with these type of car shows on TV. Take Wheeler Dealers for example.
i dont think its a first for a show dont pay for its crew, Gold Rush, had Dakota Fred on, never paid him, rip his soul, another show i can think of, is American Hotrod, when Chip Foose got his own shop, many crew members from that show, went over to him instead and i think it will keep happening, because the networks saves money that way
In every show Wayne would go in a dark garage and look over an old car using the light from his phone. So he's supposed to be a super expert and doesnt even bring a flashlight.
When my dad who was a huge lover of cars says.....ahhhh I don't like that guy (meaning wayne) you tend not to watch his show, later in my life i watched a couple of episodes and automatically knew why my dad didn't like him..... he had or has a pompous ass attitude i guess that comes when you buy a Ferrari. I'll pass on a new show as well..... i would however watch.... chasing classic cars with Jay Leno!
Sorry to keep on but voice-over just said show had most restorations/episodes, but most episodes never restored cars(or even owned) like shows opening 13.9million wasn't Wayne's bid and 720,000 wasn't winning bid....really gonna tick me off....like never admitting prices paid for cars after series 2🤭🤭🤭

He was a gold nugget. Gifted with ability as driver; and mechanic. Saddened to hear he did not get rewarded for what he had to offer. Assumed he was.
Working as a mechanic "kept him off the streets" 🙂
Hey quick, end this channel. Yoo su ck!
Roger was the real deal. Racing and a mechanic during the best years of motorsports. I always looked forward to seeing him on the show. He should have received more credit and payment for his contribution. I hope he is doing well.
Without Roger I doubt I will be viewing new episodes.
I met Wayne a few times at car events. I have no “high end” car. He was always polite and personable and always took the time to talk. Loved the show
Hate to hear Wayne didn’t take care of Roger, if that is indeed the case. Wayne always seemed like a genuinely nice guy, but Roger made the show.
I missed Roger classy guy
Anyone else of the opinion that the narrator has never seen an episode?
It's a robot voice..
Oh the "Dozenburg" guy?
@@Brian-ii6sd. I picked up on that also 😊
I have noticed there are so many obviously mispronounced words even though the accent seems authentic.
It is as if a robot, low budget one is trying to learn to pronounce words for the first time.
As a Brit I can't suppress a snigger every time I hear "Wayne-ker ini" 😁
I see what you did there, and concur with the sentiment of your comment. The Italian diminutive of the English pronounciation
