Even if Garrett may or may not have lived up to the ideals of people now calling him a "sell out" - I hope he has also empowered you to take a stand in a life of meaning and purpose. If you're going to call him a sell out please take a stand of your own in a life that truly makes a positive difference. As a teacher myself, I know that I hope a number of my students will live lives of purpose that may make a positive difference beyond my own. It's a passing of the torch. Your turn now.

One of the best live bands I've been lucky to have seen. They opened a show on the Sunshine Coast with this gem. When the song paused the audience politely clapped, some thinking that was the end of their introduction song. Then, the song restarted. The whole crowd were totally engaged. One of the best moments in my concert experiences.
My memory was the Caringbah Inn in the middle 80s the shame is that it is just as relevant today as when it was written only the situation and actors have changed it breaks my heart to think we have come such a small distance in such a long time on such an important topic

There is no real Australian Culture now. Globalisation, Mass Immigration of very different people and Ultra PC has done a real job on it. Think about it - when this song came out Australia only had a population around 15 million yet was punching well above its weight in music and movies on a global scale. Now we have nearly double that population and barely make any cultural impact at all.

When I was 13, 14 or15 I used to hear these early Midnight Oil songs on an LA based station KROQ back in 82-83 85. It was a "New Wave"station. Way before "Diesel and Dust"

The crowd at Wolfgang's ate it up, and PG called it "really something special" but he found the slam-dancing "ridiculous."

However, I’m starting to like this song and would like to add to my music collection. Don’t be surprised if I play this song alongside a 2024 hot song called “ Hot Night” by Durante and HANA. The songs definitely have nothing to do with each other lol
