The Winnebago system is heavily monitored by the DNR. Large walleye hatches happened in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2016. We're expecting another large hatch to happen this coming spring as well. The DNR catches and tags 5000 walleye every year and there's currently little evidence of overharvesting. Should that change, bag limits will be lowered.

There's no size limit on Walleye on Winnebago, but there's a daily limit of 5.
