Congrats! Undoubtedly one of the most awesome accommodations I have seen in a small space. I see many but they are either too cluttered and messy or too sterile/cold looking. Really really nice.
Perfect built and size. Don’t mind the folks urging for a bigger van. This thing will save you money and having you enjoy life outside rather the inside. Thanks for sharing.
I have one of these I live out of on road trips. These are VERY stealthy. I even have a small roof vent and solar panel on mine and you still wouldn't ever think someone is in the back.
101perspective don’t forget the low overhead; cheap tires, maintenance, insurance, and if anything goes wrong, any mechanic will fix it. Try that with a sprinter.
Really love that conversion on how everything is layed out. I really look forward to eventually getting a Transit Connect and building one out to be a camper van! 😀
Strangely enough even though the transit is a right hand drive British commercial staple, here in Australia we ONLY GET the big transit vans. But honestly I wouldn't fit in one of these although I do like the idea of having a newer vehicle. I almost ended up with a Kia Sedona, but instead got a 2002 hyundai trajet van. A not so common van a bit smaller than a chrysler voyager. With a well proven 2.7 litre engine used in many hyundais. Mine had 101 thousand miles on it when I got it. I'm 6'2" and fit in the back without too much extra length. I went full custom inner spring mattress and its nearly 9 inches thick. Better than my bed at home.
Loved it. I am doing a build myself in a Ford Transit 1998 so bit older but is wide also I am in Australia so bit different. Still I love how you have made this simple. I am getting ideas and it’s people like yourself that help people like me make my dream come true. Great build
I am converting my Dacia Dokker van ( similar size to the connect) at the moment and will be having a similar layout as yours which I am glad you are happy with. You have some great storage ideas which I will incorporate into mine. Thanks fo posting
Nice van I live in a connect not finished mine yet as I moved into mine as soon as I bought it but it's getting there (10 months now). Like your overhead lockers that's my next job, thanks for the tour :)
I love Stealth, you can literally park anywhere! One thing I would do is get a memory foam topper on the space your sleeping on, because you will sleep better and then feel better all day! ✌️🇺🇸
Looks well equipped for its purpose, i would install solar panel on roof and a vent. Brilliant job. Right on! Make sure your batteries are the sealed ones, some are have vents and resale toxic fumes when charging due to heat.
I've been debating for a while whether to sell my big van (Renault Master LWB/HT) or my Ford Transit Connect... you make it look really cosy. I'm swaying towards keeping the Ford now. Thanks for sharing this. Best, Kaye
That's a pretty good setup for a Transit Connect. Not big enough for our needs as we are looking at a full-sized van - new / used, not sure yet. We do like the Transit 350 XLT and are leaning in that direction. But for your needs I can see where your van will work great for you. Thanks for sharing. :)
Hi Kai 👍,I was just sitting here wondering when you were going to run out of things to show us in your van,Really impressed man and im really pleased for you,You said you never thought you would do a video,Well this is brilliant,Its great to see you so happy and organised and living such a great life,All the best Kai and thanks for this upload 👍✌.
Excellent set up!! I've got a Ford Transit too and am just now starting to look for ways to make it livable. Thanks for the great ideas! PS: love the wood paneling.
Great van conversion. Would love to see a vid showing the construction in more detail of your bed and what parts were used and part numbers etc. Thanks Shaun from Sheffield UK.
Great build. I'm 6'3 and if I could work it to be able to lay down stretched out, I would prefer this van. If I could, I would do my bed behind the driver seat and put the sink and things on the other side with a passenger swivel seat, so when I'm relaxing, that would be my chair, have a table on a swivel that could either be at the head of my bed, or in front of my swivel seat. Definitely get some solar for the fridge and charging things. Also a camera system that would give me a view all around the van with no windows in the back. I absolutely love your build. Will look up measurements to see how much space behind the drivers seat to the back to see if I can fit. If not I would just look for a regular work van. Love the stealth.
Nice build! It seem to be both practical and very cosy. I currently bought a bigger van but am still very curious of micro campers. Your video was very inspiring, thank you for sharing! 🙂
I think it’s awesome. Minimalist approach is always the best. The only thing I wonder is ventilations and cooling in the summer months. Also maybe windows with screens? Maybe where you are it’s not a concern.
Very nice set up. I currently own a 10 year old Honda Odyssey. I was thinking about trading it in on a new small van like this. But after test driving a Nissan NV200 I realized I just could not go that small. I really admire you for being able to pull off living in a Transit Connect.
@@directionwood Correct. I'm averaging 32 mpg in mine...but i dont have it weighed down w/ a bunch of wood and stuff. Unfortunately, though, the nv200 also has the lowest build quality.
I suggest a roof fan to keep the van cool and better airflow. Also a butane portable stove is great for cooking, and it can keep the van warm in the evening. And a thicker mattress pad. Other than that, it's a fantastic van build. Looks awesome.
Super good job. I'd really like to see any "in-process" pics or videos showing how you put together the siding/walls.... very impressed. I have a 2011 Connect I'm starting to build out now.

Prophetic End Times The gas mileage was a HUGE factor for me. I get 25 hwy and about 21 city, usually averaging 23/24mpg. Good luck getting that in a full size
That’s cosy af 😎 should put a blind right where the bulkhead should go and get yourself a good portable projector if your into movies and games once that cool bed is transformed, maybe a handy sized awning for the side and back just so you have some space outside to shake off the rain if your in that kind of weather at some stage be a good idea if you need to put wet close on a line and if you have company 🤙😎
This is going to be my next vehicle I think just because I like to cruise and also save on gas so at 6'3" I'm thinking about some sort of diagonal bed arrangement. I like the homey nature of your build but I don't know if I could sleep well with my heels hanging off the bed that's just me but like you I've done the foam pad in -30 tent and really like it as an option but I seriously need to get better equipped for road life.
Awesome build out, man! I also have a Transit Connect and I love it. I'm starting to realize how much easier my conversion would be if I didn't have windows all the way around.
I dont have any windows in my van (other than driver area). It's good because I dont have to bother with making sure they're totally blacked out at night...however, if i didn't just sleep in it, at least one side window would be ideal/more livable.
Very nice. I’ve been thinking of a connect but the ones I’ve seen on the street look as though the back is only about 5 feet! I read somewhere that the first 3 years they were longer and taller and Ford, for some reason brought the size down even further. You have to have a window not just for ventilation which is really important, but for light which is just as important for health. Plus your body puts out moisture when sleeping so you could wind up with mold which apparently is an issue with lots of van builds. Anyway- good going on the build. Looks comfy and workable.

Thanks for sharing this.. For transit connect was always my choice van just because of the size, like you mentioned. Glad I found your vid.
The pullout for the feet is cool. The thin pad sure looks thin. A thicker pad sure wouldnt be to hard to do and would be much plusher
I'm thinking Kai could just get a higher density closed cell foam pad (evazote 1cm thick) and bond it to the existing foam. DIY dual density foam bed.
Love the bed extension on the drawer slides! Really great idea

Wood paneling adds unessesary weight...which lowers gas mileage. Not worth it, imo. There are better ways to make a camper's interior look inviting.
