  • Had a bunch of great comments in the last video and wanted to respond to some of you guys! This is a long one, but I decided to leave it as is. I hope you guys find this enjoyable. Write a comment about what other types of videos you'd like to see or other topics you thing I should cover!
I do a small lesson in the middle of this video going over the basics of the Nashville Number System. I left it in because I'm terrible at editing but I did extract that part to make it its own video! If you'd like to skip to that time stamp just skip ahead to 18 mins!

I’m a 53 year old father / husband and engineer with a minor in music . Played in the college jazz band and majored in classical guitar. I have reached a lot of success in my business career as I started an internet service provider business. You have the best attitude and I am 100% confident you will be a great success in life . Keep your nose clean and keep at it . I enjoy listening to your playing and your commentary. Good luck !

Really liked your message that full time guitarist in Nashville might not be realistic for many.
But moving there and playing a gig once a month for the love of it while working a regular 9-5 is realistic.

You mentioned in one of your videos to might show a lesson from time to time. My idea for a lesson would be the intro thing you played for your Importance of networking and how to get gigs in Nashville video. I don’t think it started out G to F but I’m not sophisticated enough to recognize the rest. Keep up the good work Tim.

Hey Tim... I'm glad I came across your video. It's refreshing, and you come across as honest and sincere. There are many guitar influencers that are too robotic in their approach, and spend half their time hawking products. I understand their need for income, but c'mon... limit it. I'm 63 a few years away from retirement, and Nashville is high on my retirement list. I just want to find a small group of people that just want to play for the love of music (a little money would be ok😉). Your video's are inspiring in that respect. BTW love that G&L (Leo hit another home run with that). I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this... stay real🍻

New sub here before you get into the tens of thousands.
Video ideas if you wanna tackle them:
    - the drop D jam from your previous lesson
    - downtown Nashville walkthrough - show the city “behind the music”
    - chord progressions that you like - lessons and voicings
    - non-professional musicians in nashville?
    - gig vlogs
    - having good digital tone? - since you use the hx stomp and hve a vintage style preference
    kudos from eastern europe

Hey Tim I like your honesty and how you approach the music business. No sugar coating. Looks like you’ve figured it out. I spent over 20 years driving up there every chance I had from North Alabama only 1-1/2 hr drive. I would write, network , record demos and attend BMI workshops. Had a blast and had some success. Finally signed with a publisher after 10 years of rejection and got a few cuts. It’s a brutal but rewarding business.
Many of the fellow Writers/ musicians I encountered approached the music industry like the lottery or a slot machine. Just throw enough songs out there and maybe one will stick . My advice to young musicians/writers is get to be as good as possible where you are. Then if you want to move up give it a try . Be yourself and do what you do. Don’t get caught up in the copy cat circle. For those just wanting to play in a cover band, there’s other cities that offer good opportunities where there’s not a million guitarists within a 10 square mile area . lol
Play music for the love of it from the heart. If money comes out of it fine. If it doesn’t you’re not a failure. Enjoy the journey. The memories will be worth more than you think when you’re older.

From the couple videos ive seen youre a terrific guitar player with an exceptionally technical, sound foundation that extends into teaching people how to figure out music, Timmy. You also seem like a pretty terrific guy. Nashville is a GREAT place for extraordinary musicians to go to procure a pizza delivery job and a kick in the balls, so it warms my heart to hear that your are making a living playing. A little money, then decent money doing what you love puts you on a trajectory to thrive. I hope you keep chipping at it, making connections, and making music, buddy. Try to take TH-cam/social Media with a grain of salt and just do what you enjoy and what feels cool...on a schedule that lets you be a person and i think you'll be pleased over time with the results, Chief. Good luck!

I like your videos. You seem like a nice guy... I hope your channel does well. I lived in LA for a long time b4 moving here about 7 years ago to be a track guy/writer/music survivalist. That GF joke has been around out there for a long time... as well as... "Oh you're an Actor... what restaurant?". Haha! The reality is there are only so many spots for people to be employed in the entertainment fields... and the rest are usually frustrated AF. BTW I saw Lanco at a small festival in the desert in LA about 2017. It was about 114 degrees that day! Prob b4 you were in the band? So many Nashville guitar players are putting up great content for those of us looking to up the game... and all seem very cool. Except one guy who is pretty new who seems to be a constant sales pitch.

What was the process like for that, or what was it like for landing the gig with lanco? Blew my mind when you said you played with them, I love their music. Some gigs you play for a 1,000 plus and next gig there's only 5 or 10 people in the crowd and they are more excited about what's playing on the T.V. screens. I'd always tell the guys in the band, look it's a chance for live practice...😂. You still play the gig, and play it well, but the crowd is small, its just part of it.

I miss the old Nashville of years ago. Country has changed so much from the 60s-90s. There are only a few artists on the radio today that are worth listening to. Many of the songs are garbage today.
