Ume never actually decided to become demon. Gyutaro decided it for her. That's why she had an option to go to heaven as well. And even then she stayed on her brother's side after she was burned alive.. just to be thrown to flames again. That's some sibling love.

I'm not sure it it's mentioned in the anime, but the reason Ume stabbed the samurai was because he insulted Gyutaro and called him ugly, right to Ume's face. She loved her brother more than anything (cried when he wasn't around her) so she stabbed the samurai. It says so in the Kimetsu No Yaiba Databook
You cannot watch this and not feel for Daki and Gyutaro. They went through hell, were always treated horribly by humans, and the 1st person to show them any kindness was a literal demon.

I find it funny how so many people misunderstand Nezuko's ability lol. From the very start it always served the same purpose; exploding blood that combusts and only affects demons. We saw her burn Rui's blood webs, we saw her burn Enmu's magic rope while literally setting the Demon Slayers on fire during Mugen Train, and we saw her burn Daki and trigger her PTSD from her human memories of being roasted alive. Nezuko's ability negates other demon abilities with special flames, and here she is simply burning Gyuutaro's demon art poison blood out of their bodies. Inosuke and the others are still very fcking injured lol.

If you rewatch moment when Gyutaro go into the flame, you can see he changes. He turned back to his human form, and his human kimono on him.

I dont think him going to hell is an interpretation of his mindset, it’s the result of the unchangeable actions and decisions he’s made. He can’t go to the light, he had no choice so he tried to let Daki go on without him

I think the most messed up and hardest part is mentally even as a demon Daki/Ume was 13. And she reverted back to a 13 year old girl in the afterlife. This is why even when she was a demon she sounded super whiny while she was crying. She was literally just a child.
And let's all ignore the fact that she already had clients before turning 13...

MASSIVE shout-outs to Daki and Gyutaro's VAs, they did so incredibly well at portraying the whining younger sister and the malnourished hateful older brother.
it's hard to make the sounds that these people made, and they made them seem realistic and NATURAL in the scape of the anime.

Inosuke is actually pretty smart, I feel. He's limited by his knowledge of the world due to his upbringing but he's still very smart. This is just supplemented by his high 'instinctual quotent' and insane spatial awareness.
Inosuke is cracked, but brought down by lack of overall knowledge. if he got legitimate education after his life on the mountain he would be TERRIFYING. just imagine someone who not only understands how living beings move and act but also how to judge actual angles based on mathematical accuracy.

Gyotaro didn't go to hell out of stubbornness. He went, because he knew he would never be let into heaven. Though Gyotaro made the decision to turn Ume, I'm pretty sure she would have chosen to follow her brother had she been able to choose. I felt so damned bad for them. They had the shittiest life, where no one ever helped them or cared for them. If they had been nurtured even a little, they would never have walked the same path. Gyo did regain his human form as they walked into the flames. The tears started when Daki said all that hurtful shit to Gyotaro, after all he did for her.Seeing those babies left to freeze in the snow broke me, maybe because I'm a mom and couldn't imagine leaving children in the snow. It was hard in Japan at that time, but damn. Couldn't even let them in to warm up? Terrible. I have read the manga, and of all the demons, these two had the worst story aside from one other whose story we have yet to hear.
You need to understand that Gyutaro was collecting because that’s what all he could do, everyone treated him like trash, his mom abused him for no reason, and Gyutaro was eating crap food, so he had no choice but to take peoples money to help himself and sister live a decent life and eat decent food. Ume was burnt to a crisp so she was prolly gonna die just like Doma said in the episode, So Gyutaro being the good big brother he is, he let both him and his little sister become a Demon to get a better life for her and him

You have to remember that none of the demons remember any of their human memories until they're on the brink of death and dying or returning in some way
The disease that ume/daki was named after was syphilis, so you were kind of right about gyutaro being the unlucky one, because he contracted congenital syphilis and ume didn’t, which is why she looked normal and he was deformed

The first episode of season 3 is going to be fire. Everyone is losing their mind on which voice actor they gonna choose for Upper 1.
The reason she was accepted to heaven or reincarnation was because Ume (which is another nane for Syphilis) didn't choose to become a demon. It was her brother who choose the path for her and fed her blood. It's sweet to know she rejected heaven to stay with her brother though
That back story was one of the most well written stories. Idk why people hate on it so much. I felt so so bad for human them nd then ofc the ending of her sticking with her brother… fack meee man😩😩

Just to remind you all. An upper moon hasn't been killed for a century until Tanjiro, Tengen, Inosuke, and Zenitsu killed Daki and Gyutaro. So in words, that former upper six is still alive.

Ume has the choice to go to Heaven, that's why she has returned to her human form, because she never had the choice whether or not to become a demon in the first place. By the way, they don't really explain it in the anime but she stabbed the samurai for insulting her brother and possibly attempting to do some other stuff (considering she worked in a brothel). Gyuutaro however remains a Demon who is doomed to Hell, maybe he chose to become a demon, so she chooses to go with him.
I don't know that this makes a ton of sense. Gyutaro was still a child with a wound in his back that would have likely killed him. His sister was dying in his arms. How much of a choice did he really have? How much of an understanding did he have about what becoming a demon actually means? How much is the human soul responsible for their actions as a demon? Even Nezuko has attacked humans to feed. Is she damned now as well? How much of a choice did Rui have? How informed was he about what that choice meant? I feel strongly that children cannot consent to contracts like this, especially without the relevant information.
All things considered i think Gyutaro did the best he could with the circumstances and resources he was afforded while he was human. I don't think he dragged Ume down.

Ohh the finale that always hits me 😆😏😂🤣 even when reading it i love their sibling relationships
A couple of things:
1) Nezuko's demon art ability hard counters demon abilities which are (with very few exceptions) all based on blood. Gyutaro's poison comes from him manipulating his blood and thus she can destroy it. I think the cheap part isn't that this came out of left field as a deus ex machina, but rather that such emphasis was put on the poison in the first place. It feels a little cheap to have the poison mentioned so many times only for it to be trivial in the end. I feel like they could have mitigated this by making the poisons damage linger in the form of pain or numbness (like it attacked their nerve cells or something).
At the very least there were other injuries (in Tengen's case career ending ones) that lingered after the conclusion of the battle.
2) Gyutaro's life sucked big time and most people would have made the same decisions given how he was treated and the position he started in. I like how he donned his "demon persona" before he even became a demon, emphasizing how he was a demon created by the Entertainment District, and not just one born of Muzan.
3) Don't bother trying to understand the heaven and hell shit. It doesn't make much sense that Gyutaro was put on such a monumentally shitty path and then was doomed because he accepted help from the one creature that actually bothered to aid him. I don't know who made the rules in that regard, but they are probably giant douches.
A good finale that saw all the characters take a moment to revel in their survival and also showed those who didn't participate getting ready for the next arc.
Obligatory former Upper Six is voiced by Light Yagami's VA comment here. The voice is so perfect, all jokes aside.

I think you are wildly misunderstanding their circumstances.... Guyuutaro Was born below the lowest run of the bottom social class a servant amongst Servants in the entertainment district only good for clean up and like breaking mercenary work for collections. Then his sister, the only light in his life, comes along and is perfect.... Sure, she is fated for a courtesan lifestyle but that's the lot in life. ( a sucky draw but normal for the era) Ume'a arrval also signaled the end of his beatings from their parent because Disease killed her.
The only " bad thing " she did in life was refused to be sold to her first customer And take his eye with a hair pin.... For this she gets burned alive... After Guyuutaro goes on a SELF DEFENSE murder spree then they get approached by demons. Guyuutaro Makes the decision for her, to save her, And everything she did after that was instinct and well deserved vengeance. That she would take damnation and the fire to still have her brother's love rather than go alone into salvation Says a lot.
One point to consider: As bad of a job as Gyutaro did raising Ume... it's still the best he could have done (just look at their circumstances) and if he hadn't taken care of Ume she would have been dead long before.

Nezuko's Blood Demon Art doesn't affect human cells or anything but Demonic Cells, for that matter. Rui made a remark about how it only burned him when she first wipped out her Exploding Blood way back in Season 1, but Daki also mentioned it when she was burned by her. That's why her flames evaporated the Sickles, since they were made out of the blood of demon, just as she burned out the poison, while leaving the human cells and everything else intact. When they were burning like torches on the Mugen Train, she only burned up their ropes, which were a physical part of Enmu, as they were part of his Blood Demon Art. She has no healing abilities.
But we saw Inosuke jump up while bleeding like hell, they aren't healed, they are just full of adrenaline and have no (immediate) lethal wounds. Doesn't mean they aren't hella injured.

I feel like the whole concept of Daki choosing to stay with her bother till the end is the whole point. Gyutaro made his choice, Daki chose family over anything regardless of where they go. The whole bitter sweet feeling of “yeah she chose family but now it’s hell for the both of them” that’s what the story is trying to make you feel. Many people would consider what these demons are doing to be irredeemable, so the mangaka shows us their flash backs to make us feel sympathy for them, then they die. It’s supposed to make you NOT feeling good in the end. Demon Slayer overall is a story that doesn’t focus in on “keeping the story happy” it likes to be more on the harsh realistic human approach. And I like it for that tbh

For the record demon slayer operates on a Buddhist form of hell where it’s more like a really long horrific prison sentence rather than external. So while daki and gyutaro are in for some pretty bad times for a long while they aren’t doomed forever.
Nezuko's anti-demon fire burned away the poison (originated from Gyutaro's BDA) in their systems and thus cured them of it
Muzan has about a thousand years
I mean, if Daki was allowed to go into the light, it stands to reason Rui could go into the light as well. It's never explicitly stated Rui went to hell. It's assumed by the audience because of the line from the parents, but that was a conditional statement. It doesn't mean they actually went to hell. This is further supported by the fact that Rui became human again (like Daki). The flames from the body zooming out is likely there due to the Japanese affinity for ambiguity.

No Hashira can beat an uppermoon 1v1.
The Buddhist Hell is a temporary place. After the souls get punished, they have a chance to move up the wheel of reincarnation. However, the time spent in Hell is variable… it could be hundreds of years before the soul can move up to the next reincarnation.
The flashback to Ume and Gyutaro’s tragic past wasn’t just shown in this episode. If you think back, they showed flashes of Ume’s story when she told Tanjiro that she doesn’t remember her human past and when Nezuko burned her, making her remember when she was burned alive in the past.
Nezuko was not healing anyone with her demon arts. Her ability has been consistent since episode 19: she can burn demons and demon created things but not harm humans. Rui surmised so in episode 20. Nezuko burned off the demon ropes in the Mugen Train arc and also used her technique on Tanjiro and Inosuke to help wake them. So in this episode, all she did was negate Gyutaro’s demon arts at ground zero and burn off his demon poison from everyone’s bodies. Notice she couldn’t heal Inosuke’s open wounds or Tengen’s eye or other injuries.
If you have seen the Taisho Secrets (the little extras at the end of the episodes), you would have heard that Master Kagaya is the 97th leader of the Demon Slayers Corps, and they also mentioned that Muzan is over a thousand years old. Kagaya can’t be his brother or anything close in generation, if Muzan is from his family. If anything, they are distant relatives separated by around a thousand years. Think about this: according to National Geographic, by DNA analysis, Genghis Khan has roughly 16 million male descendants around the world today. You guys could be related to Genghis Kahn, and he lived roughly 800 years ago. How closely do you think Kagaya could be to Muzan?
And not all the Hashira have been a-holes. Besides Tomioka Giyu, Shinobu has shown herself to be fair and supportive, the Love Hashira has been cute and compassionate, and the Mist Hashira hasn’t shown any animosity (except for when Tanjiro was disrespectful toward Master Kagaya). Rengoku too was a bit unforgiving at first, but now everyone loves him. The Stone Hashira hasn’t really been mean either… just very hard lined. The only ones that were really abrasive have been this Snake Hashira and the Wind Hashira.

The reason Daki could go to the light is because she didn't choose to become a demon, while Gyutaro did. Gyutaro's only option was to go to Hell.
Well I’m sure Daki wanted to become a Demon to be with her Big Brother. And her Brother lived a crap life
@@robbysalmon8902 When she was turned into a demon she was barely hanging on to life, she wasn't in any position to consent or decline to being turned into a demon. That's why she was given the opportunity to go towards the light. She showed that she would have, in fact, accepted the offer to become a demon when she chose to go into the fire with her brother.

I don't know that this whole "choosing whether to become a demon" determining your fate in the afterlife makes a ton of sense. Gyutaro was a child, who lived a life of abuse from beginning to end, with a wound in his back that would have likely killed him. His sister was dying in his arms. How much of a choice did he really have? How much of an understanding did he have about what becoming a demon actually means? How much is the human soul responsible for their actions as a demon? Even Nezuko has attacked humans to feed. Is she damned now as well? How much of a choice did Rui have? How informed was he about what that choice meant? I feel strongly that children cannot consent to contracts like this, especially without the relevant information.
I made my full case for this in another comment, but based on the evidence, I don't actually think Rui went to hell. There are many reasons, but the big one is that he turned human again after death (also, Daki was allowed to go into the light, and she was way worse than Rui). Gyutaro's is especially clear because he had no intention of not becoming a demon no matter how many times he was reincarnated. In other words, he had no remorse for the things he did. It wasn't his choices that kept him out of the light; it was his conviction to do all those horrible things again if given the chance. That's why he went to hell.

I may be a day late but I will comment anyway. Gyutaro and Daki are my favourite demons so far in the show. I already loved their fighting style and their battle in the last episode but what really nails it home is their backstory. They were painted as bad people for simply existing. Or at least Gyutaro was. Absolutely love those 2 even if Daki was really annoying at times
The funny part is that Daki got annoying after she got "Defeated". Before that she was super scary and composed. Maybe she really doesn't like losing.
Also Gyutaro and Ume/ Daki s8bling dynamic was more realistic than Tanjiro and Nezukos. I mean Tanjiro and Nezuko never argue which is just nonsense. Most siblings in real life argue all the time.

The demon gyutaro & daki were talking to is Doma. He is Number 2 in the upper ranks. I’m not sure why they didn’t just put Upper 2.
Maybe cuz he was upper six back then and they want to give u a proper representantion of that time. Allowing the watchers to speculate and theorize on whether he has de-ranked, died or went up in the ranks since then.

I hate when people completely misunderstood is character and water it down to just, "he's a true demon". No, he was a kid who was used by his parents and turned into a religious tool, he was dehumanized. His parents took advantage of his unique features and made people believe he could speak to the gods just so they could get benefit from it.
@@trulyrebekha try to undestand what i mean. Douma had a sad life yes , but he snapped and the conception of demon is misleading in this anime. Bro , there is no demon that doesnt devour a human just like nezuko and no honorable demon who doesnt eat women and children like akaza, this is just bullshitt. Douma is the writer's perfection and her greatest limits, his character is damn near perfect. He is the incarnation of a real demon.
@@nouralyneboudefa8148 I don't agree with you when you say that demons are mislead in this anime... demons in Demon slayer are exactly how the writer wanted them to be, if they are not what you would expect It's a your personal thing, not a flaw in the writing. They show such emotions precisely for their Human past.

this arc was good until this episode. reminds me of naruto's plot no jutsu. too many convenient plot saving moments that makes you go wtf
