Love my SOG Terminus XR. The larger "buttons" for the lock are great, especially while wearing gloves, without being too big or in the way, and I like the flipper. I NEED a wharncliffe blade version though!

@@scottpoole2182 if you haven’t already purchased it in gold… don’t. It was my first “real knife” and the gold started to wear off in a very ugly way immediately. And I mean without even being used. The carbon fiber also feels sharp and the lack of weight actually isn’t the best. If you could get a G10 version with a stone wash s35vn or something definitely do that instead. Trust me the gold in person is underwhelming and you’ll regret once the finish gets destroyed.

Bought a Bugout as my first benchmade. Was not impressed. The axis pin was made of titanium making the action rough and sticky due to the galling. I sent it in for warranty because both omega springs broke in 3 months. The replacement was rough too. I sent it back in and they upgraded me to a 940 and the action was like sandpaper, the edge grind was way off center and they just leave the machining marks on the blade. Compaired to a 940 my dad has that was made in October of 2000, their quality has gone down as the prices have gone up. Sold it and bought a Spyderco Para 3 in S35vn and never looked back.

Got a SOG Seal xr about 2 months ago and I love it. The action is fantastic on this beefy bruiser with it’s 3.9 inch s35vn blade! The xr lock makes for quick one handed opening and closing. Excellent video as always, Guys! I recently acquired the Bestech Slasher with D2 and Micarta. Their "B-Lock" seems like a good version of the Axis lock...and the knife has an extremely solid, robust quality to it, having full steel liners under the micarta, with metal completely surrounding the B-lock mechanism. And the blade came extremely sharp out-of-box. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I think the Bugout is the Bugout because it is simple and clean, neutral handle, neutral blade-shape, global availability and customization (both from Benchmade and after-market). Benchmade is really awesome with the warranty (they sent me clips and screws no problems and I live in Switzerland).
Hogue only recently changed their policy that you don't void your warranty when you take your knife apart, which is why there are no/less after-market parts.
Sum this up and it is easy to see why the Bugout is so popular.

IMHO it was much easier to disassemble/ reassemble than BM bugout, mind you this was my first (x2) $100+ knives that I done so, took about 25 minutes per knife with cleaning. My work, people were intimidated/uncomfortable when I'd whip out my griptilian to open boxes, compared to the crap box cutters they had around for the job. I love the axis lock and ever since I started using it I never want to use another lock type.

I kind of prefer axis lock on two Ganzo knives i have than on my Mini grip. Thumbs don't stick out that much, they have better polish and action is better as well. Good type of lock.

Great lock, but I hate those omega springs. Had to replace both of them (first after about six months) on my bugout and had to made replacement myself. Originals are pretty much unobtainable in czech republic, at least for reasonable price.

Personally I would say the ball lock on the manix 2 is better than the standard axis lock or really any of the others for one main reason. The lack of those damn Omega springs in exchange for a coil spring. Benchmade got it right once on the anthem but then kept making the same lock with the same issue. And its pretty clear that any lock using omega springs is going to have the same issue with them breaking.
