I thought that I would talk about some further tips that were either too short for this video or I just didn't think of putting them in the video, so here goes: 1) I know I said that you should always move so I should add to that. What you should do is always try to bhop. Like I said, building up speed is easy so try not to walk when you can help it 2) This is more of a general aiming tip, but try to identify if someone is moving toward a healthpack, a weapon, powerup, some pills, or some other item or an easily identifiable route. You can use their predictable path to land a shot . 3) someone already mentioned this but I may as well put it here. OF has its own commands too, not just the regular TF2 or source commands. These commands include the "of_" prefix (type without quotes ofc) 4) I actually wouldn't recommend the nailgun for beginners until they get used to aiming with most other weapons, as its aiming style is drastically different to every other aiming style (it's more of a weird hybrid between the leading and tracking aim styles). If you do use it however, it's great to use against enemies that are chasing you in a predictable path. 5) Don't chase people unless you're confident that you can win that fight, they may be waiting around the corner with a supershotgun or another powerful close range weapon 6) Maps like tr_walkway or tr_rocketshooting work in this mod, this is more of a general tip for the mod as a whole rather than for just deathmatch 7) Not sure true this tip actually is, but All-class mode for DM can potentially be good for helping TF2 players ease themselves in DM as they get used to the faster pace. Players also seem to enjoy the more casual and chaotic nature of all-class 8) To defeat the Mercenary, shoot him until he dies 9) You can "trimp" in this game despite the fact that demoknight doesn't exist. Just build up enough speed through bhopping, and you can slide off of ramps or angled surfaces in general. This can be useful for accomplishing certain jumps in maps such as dm_skate edit: the chainsaw now exists so you can actually trimp now, I would only use it in certain instances though since the trimping itself is pretty unwieldy speaking from experience. Here are some even more tips! 10) Pick up every powerful weapon that you come across, even if you don't plan on using that weapon. This is in order to deny enemy players of picking up those weapons 11) If you're standing over a weapon that you already have AND you already have ammo for that weapon, "waste" ammo by firing a shot in order to use that pickup for ammo. This is also a good way to deny enemy players of pickups. 12) A timer has now been added to most servers, so when it comes to timing pickups, use subtraction since the timer is usually counting down. 13) of_speedometer is a great command if you wanna know the intricacies of how fast you're moving or how you're building up speed 14) Circle jumping is a thing now! Though this is a separate topic that could be part of its own video so I would look this up elsewhere, there's quite a few good videos on the topic already. Though w/ regular source movement, you'll have to be sure not to hold "forward" when strafing into a circle jump.

As a bonus, most projectiles are leading but the nailgun is a weird combo of tracking and leading.
Funny is how Nailgun is one of those weapons that I aim the best as a beginner, since most players are playing aggressive and I can just funnel their path with nails, either through a choke or around a corner, but even on the open field, I seem to have the best performance with that thing.
@@sebastianmorales7346 I know, hence world famous classic. It wouldn't need much work to be turned into one, but if Valve got their hands on a purely movement based arena shooter I can only imagine what they'd do to it.

Lol, and I didn't know about the existence of TF2C, until I read your comment. Thank you! Oh, by the way, this Open Fortress mod is pretty recent, so maybe I didn't know about it before.
Hey the controls on Open Fortress keep throwing me off when it comes to switching my weapons ( as all the classes ). I dont use any custom binds or anything like that. Any tips?
I'm guessing that you aren't used to managing the amount of weapons that open fortress has if that's what you mean. Control wise, I'd personally keep fast weapon switching off in Deathmatch unlike in TF2 as I have a little bit more of a visual indicator of what weapon I'm about to select if that makes sense, although some may disagree. For the times when you're playing the 9 classes and you're using the more familiar 3 weapon system that some gamemodes/servers have, commands like "bindtoggle ] hud_fastswitch 1 " (enter in your console without the quotes) can be great for toggling fastswitching between gamemodes. Hopefully I made things easier here, as managing many weapons at a time is just one part of the learning curve that arena shooters in general in have (unless that isn't what you're concerned about) so memorize what weapon binds and assign a "group" for weapon that have a unifying characteristic. Ex. Key 2 for pistols and one handed guns, Key 3 for Shotguns, 5 for long range weapons like the AR and the railgun, 8 for super weapons, etc. Also, you may have to push a key twice or more if you have more than one weapon in a certain group. Like if I want to grab a railgun and I'm not using a specific bind, then I would probably have to push "5" twice (so I skip the AR) and then click to select it (you don't have to click if you're using fast switching) it's essentially a copy-pasted half life weapon system. Hopefully I didn't butcher any of that
Uh yeah, id rather sit this one out until railgun isnt seemingly some kind of an instagib gun. Can't imagine the frustration of shooting the shit out of someone who would constantly run backwards away from me (to maintain distance), and them getting a lucky strafe-aim railgun headshot on me every time right before they die. I can barely tolerate 150 damage headshots of the original game if the enemy sniper doesnt have someone specifically dedicated to countering them and gets free reign. 240 damage can probably be survived only if you've picked up megahealth 10-20 seconds ago, leaving you on 10 health.
whenever i pick up certain weapons their bind is at like 7 even though i only have 3 weapons. Its really inconvenient when youre in the midst of an encounter and die because you couldnt get to your gun in time.
