Not my favorite weapon by any means, but it is interesting how powerful and well balanced it is, and yet as the series advanced, it became more and more demanding of its users in order to maintain that level of damage. Given the maneuverability it affords hunters with the fade slash, I guess it's a fair trade having to work a bit harder to keep that gauge full from the 3rd gen onward haha.
"You're attacks are wide, and you can constantly trip your party in multiplayer" Gonna trip my teammates on purpose to put them in an IFrame and save them from an attack 😤😤😤😤

I'm a newcomer to the series, and playing it exclusevely on the portable versions, I can LS is my favorite weapon type. Specially solo, it feels really balanced to use. Good damage, range and mobility.
As someone who has a hard time switching it up from GS this helped, just picked up a copy of 3rd and so far feeling better than p2g, as much as I love the charm of that one.
The days when Longsword is a technical weapon, now in mhrise it gained so many invincible moveset that you can just be greedy with attack move and still bail out from danger.

The guild quests are going to be harder since the monsters will have more health, but you can definitely give it a try. Maybe do the quests of monsters that you know already, see how far you can get, maybe get better gear/armor and such. I'll be covering all of the key quests in p3rd eventually, but it may take me some time since I can't focus on this full time, unfortunately.

Tri is Triangle, it's the top face button. The face buttons are on the right side of the controller; For a PSP: Triangle (or Tri) is at the top Circle (cir) is on the right X (cross) is on the bottom Square is on the left
Hey it's all good, it's tough to get the hang of. Something you need to get into the habit of for p3rd is doing the spirit combo away from a monster. Miss on purpose when you're trying to level up your gauge, you just need to hit the last part of the combo to get the upgrade. Hitting the monster will make you attack slower due to hitstop, and if you're a bit further from the monster, and paying attention, you should be able to stop the combo short quick enough if it's not safe to finish it. Don't rush leveling up your gauge, as annoying as that can be. Otherwise, y'know, it just takes practice, be patient with yourself 🙂
