Good tips, to add onto the moisture thing. Be sure to cool the cabin down when you finish driving. Drop the windows about half a mile away from home and get it as close as outside temp as you can to avoid condensation of the trapped warm air.

Hey Dave, great video! I'm typing from Canada. I'm lived half my life in Kent, I haven't been back to the UK in almost 10 years, but it's great to hear the old accent😆. I just had a question, as a vw tdi enthusiast like you, do you recommend driving your vw tdi hard (ie. staying in 3k-4k rpms for a few minutes or redlining) or just shifting in a higher gear by putting the dsg in manual mode? And then also if I drive it "hard" or shift it into a higher; how often a week should I do this as a daily driver in order to prevent buildup in the engine from the egr, dpf, etc... ? I own a 2014 2.0L vw passat tdi by the way and the only difference between the conditions I'm in, is that it's negative temperature for over half the year here lol.

My advise would be, I you can in Canada, is get your DPF and EGR mapped out of ECU, this would involve having DPF removed....please see this video

@@whatsdavedone104 I totally would but it’s illegal here unfortunately. You won’t pass an emissions test and you can get pulled over for the modified exhaust.

The dreaded steamy windows this time of year, my mk6 golf is a nightmare steaming up also have a leon and that is the same. Might have to try to humidifier in doors i also heard people putting cat litter in a sock which not sure fancy trying that 😂

Dehumidifiers and cat litter are not quick fixes unfortunately. VAG cars are awful for condensation in the winter.

Quick tip for the dehumidifiers. A bit of the 'hook' side of velcro on the bottom and they stick to the carpet underneath the seats really well. Out of sight, out of mind

One thing i use to help with the windows fogging up in winter is starting the a/c on the lowest fan speed set to just the feet vents only. Keeps the first bit of humid air from blowing directly on the windshield and fogging it up.

The reason for the idle to increese when could is to put more charge in the battery as its less efficiant in the cold.
And the PTC heater draws alot of amps when its on.
comes on under 5deg like the electric heated mirrors do when the dial is set to them.

My Golf takes about 6 miles to heat up to temp with heating off and around 12 miles with heating set to 22⁰ on 2 clicks of heater blower...
