      This is a very solid beginner's guide. After fumbling my way through Pathfinder's Combat and advice friends who play tabletop; I'm very glad this video exists. It covers everything I think is crucial and in a very clarified way through examples. Love it!

      My thoughts exactly. Keep seeing topics like "what are your favorite spells in Baldur's Gate?" and having newbies comparing the strategies of cantrips and whether Misty Step or Web is more important, it's so wild to see. I think it'll bring tons of people into DnD because they literally gamified reading the 5e player's handbook lol @@cryptickitsune1876

    I think one of the most helpful combat tips is that if you have a character down or in danger and don't want to use spell slots or something, you can have a character use their action to throw a healing potion on the hurt character and it will be the same as if they drunk it.

    Thanks! You explained it well. I really had to concentrate to understand it all because this ain’t the type of game I usually play. Anyway, I’m taking a break, and play Dredge for a bit. Then back to Baldur’s Gate 3. I got stuck cause I couldn’t work out how to defeat all the bosses at the goblin camp - my character might not be powerful enough yet.

    I remember being a kid going through BG1&2 after I finished it I learned the "rules". Just equipping good stuff and using diffrent classes = sure way to finish it back as a kid not knowing any fantasy stuff or D&D rules. I mean, I realized for ex I needed more tanking or off tank so I just made Jaheira summon animals to distract enemies, or make my DPS chaarcters try and snipe out the dangerous targets etc, even as a small kid you pick it up fast.

    I'd recommend an itemization tutorial too if you're looking for ideas. I see a lot of players feeling bad they miss the ever burning blade, when in reality, it's just a greatsword that is constantly dipped in fire (which you can do with any weapon and proper prep). DnD items can be weird and something like a +1 sword might not look as powerful as it is.

    • @detrickz1295
      @detrickz1295 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having a character with Bless makes things a lot easier to hit. There is a ring item in the first act that allows you to put bless on someone when you heal them which is nice if you break concentration on your Bless spell. Typically a Bard/Cleric are good for blessing because typicality won't be in the midst of battle, more so bard than Cleric. So your concentration is less likely to be broken just by avoiding enemy interactions in general. Positioning helps to, for example line of sight, if you place yourself where enemies can't directly target you that's great, because you can move in between cover when using your caster/ranger fighters. These are just basics but they help a lot in terms of using your environment to your advantage. When engaging in a potential fight while in mid conversation, select your other characters to re-position them before the fight starts. Having your Frontline character do all the talking makes this much easier since they naturally have high AC and are harder to hit. All your caster/ranged characters should always be on the high ground and not in the middle of the fight.

      That's me. I find I am getting angry and not having fun in battles so dropped down to explorer. It makes enjoying the game so much better. I feel like I shouldn't drop down to easy but it's my game and I don't care!

    • @philipfahy9658
      @philipfahy9658 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jillsanders1924 Ain't nothing wrong with enjoying a game how you see fit. For people that haven't played DnD before, I'd prolly even recommend they play the easier mode. Dungeons and Dragons is a complex system and it takes time to get it down, luckily this game offers plenty of replay opportunity.

    • @ZabZabZabie
      @ZabZabZabie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@detrickz1295 Thanks that was insightful! I'll try to apply these advice in the future. I'm also considering switching to explorer or modding my team to 6 characters to make it a bit easier.

    • @detrickz1295
      @detrickz1295 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ZabZabZabie Vengeance Pally, Light Cleric, Evocation Wizard and any damage based character is a solid team comp. You've got Bless and Sanctuary from Pally and Cleric. Sanctuary basically makes enemies ignore you. You can Bless your damage based characters with Pally. If you have melee character you can cast Sanctuary on them and enemies will ignore them allowing you to dish out damage. Evocation wizards allow you to cast spells without harming your allies. All around solid team composition. You've got the control and damage from the wizard. You have an amazing Frontline which is a Paladin. Light Clerics can heal, support and do damage when needed and casting doesn't break Sanctuary only other concentration spells do. You could throw in a Barbarian with two lvls into fighter for action surge so they can basically kill enemies effectively and have a lot of turns. There's a lot you can do. Item synergy can really bring out your class potential to new heights as well. Have items that are relevant to your classes and you'll be devastating enemies left and right in Balance and Tactician mode.

    The game is unreal , im so happy it lived up to the hype. Had to restart my playthrough about 20 hours in, just before underdark, I wasnt feeling it , it was too easy on normal, so i restarted and switched up to Tactician with no scum saving and rerolling, just pre battle saves and im having so much fun. I have to use all thats unecessary on normal like scrolls, environment, different potions, I have to be careful not to take too many long rests or i wont have more supplies. Cant imagine how it would be if it was real DnD and you had to restart everything if you lost the fight ... . Anyway i hope everyone has fun in their way and enjoying BG3 ,its trully a game for generations.
