Most epic honor playthru ever. My heart goes out to you Wolf and I think you deserve your own unique dice for being the number one BG3 fan and inspiring so many others. I watched this live yesterday and although it ended in heartbreak this was truly an epic playthru from start to finish. Surviving the Ansur fight and losing at the end showed the fickle nature of BG3 honor mode and how it throws unforeseen circumstances at you (even if you have over 1200 hours into the game - hey I don't have a problem, I can quit anytime;) Every BG3 addict needs to watch this and your streams. By the way, I reached the Netherbrain shortly after watching your stream and decided to let Gale do his thing. (I was already considering it from a RP perspective due to the chain of events in my playthru before witnessing your tragic end.) Like you I had also decided to not void my contract with Raphael and expected the same cutscene, but that didn't happen. No spoilers but this game blows my mind continually. BTW, make sure you check the mailbox during the epilogue (small chest on table near the Baldur Mouth postings.) There is always at least one message in there that makes me cry and this time was probably the most tears. Now excuse me, I gotta do a playthru where Gale gets the crown because he is the true Giga Chad of the story. I'll always think of you and him, Wolf when I roll my golden dice. (edit: That was my third attempt by the way.)

I was there! I think a win would have been almost expected so the actual end was more shocking and epic - one players will remember and talk about 👌 GG!
I'll post my own honor mode sad story: I'm about to fight the inquisitor in the gith creche, I know it's a hard fight, so I throw the observer flask at the gith to soften them up, most of the gith end up focusing me anyway, I end up killing all of them only to have 3 of my party die leaving low health lae'zel alone against the observer which still has 50hp, at this point the fight is on the bridge so I end up having to retreat deeper into the temple, the vlaakith cutscene triggers but I decide to run towards the blood of lathander instead of going into the prism so I can teleport to camp to res my party before the observer kills lae'zel, little did I know that lae'zel leaves your party if you exit the room before entering the prism, which triggered an immediate game over.
So close, unlucky :( The final boss in all other modes is so easy yet it's the hardest on honour mode. I was expecting the full restore before you enter the fight but it only gives you 1 full restore potion, that really caught me off guard!
You did great! And mad respect for staying calm after such a silly death. I finished my Honour Mode with a bang: runepowder bomb + fireworks from Felogyr's and some satchels, all the while all of my party was in an invulnerability orb. Astarion shot a fire arrow on the stack of explosives and that was it. Decided to do it this way simply because I wasn't sure I would have the damage to do it the regular way, considering the legendary shield on the brain, and really didn't want to risk the dice because of it. I hope this helps and keep this strategy in mind as a backup plan if you don't feel confident about the conventional method. But bear in mind, that fireworks and runepowder will have you locked out for fire and force damage the next round, in case the explosives you bring with you won't be enough to one-shot the brain during round one. Best of luck on your next attempt, you got this!
Lost my first honor play through with a group of friends to the shar clones in the temple. They literally surprised us after we sneaked over and attacked them. They used spells we didn't have on our characters and worst of all the wizard shoved a paladin and fighter off the map with an 8 in strength...
i have killed the brain the same way every playthrough so far.. throw a backpack full of smoke powder bombs and all the fireworks in the firework store at the bottom platform and blowing it up lol
Honor mode got me in probably the dumbest on my first run. I went to the githyanki patrol in act 1 with Lae'zel in my party, thinking that it'd be a simple charisma check and some easy XP. I was level 4. Something I didn't realize is that for Voss to believe Lae'zel's lie, you also have to pass a passive deception check which can't be rerolled with inspirations. I failed that check for the first time, and the githyanki patrol attacked me. Since I was only level 4, and got screwed hard on the initiative roll, half my party was dead before I could even enter a command. The githyanki easily cleaned up the survivors on round 2. I stared dumbfounded at the game over screen for several minutes, trying to process just how hard I had played myself with that string of decision making.
Dude. Running through Honor Mode right now. Final battle is the only one that worries me. That timer and the fact you can't run away, right at the end of the game? Gonna be... brutal. That said, 19hp and killed by a mushroom cloud... while streaming? That had to hurt way worse than any game over I can think of.
Alternatively you can just bring a bunch of smokepowder bombs/barrels and one shot the brain, use invis on your whole party to sneak up to the crown without initiating combat and use a globe of invulnerability on the character who is channelling
If you still want to partake in the fight, I went in with about 15 scrolls of disintegrate, but I only needed 5-6, it's dex is apparently really bad! Just make sure you aren't getting your platforms blown up.
i lost 2 honor modes to Ansur, his last try when he goes below 1 hp and gets back up surging his power, i could swear it says 2 turns on his surging until the blast, but it happens immediately his next turn. That's basically what made me tpk to him twice, the third time i took no chances and killed him with 3 party members only just in case
LOL, I also lost it on the brain. Lost Nyrulna. Failed to target target a cone spell properly, then failed to target a line spell properly 😅 I will do a second run eventually, but man, it stings.
Hey Wolf, thanks for the nice video and the entertaining summary. I'm proud of you and glad to have been there live. It was two great journeys the evil playthrogh and the durge honor mode. Looking forward to your next attempt. 😊 Thank you! Skål
Thanks for explaining. Watched it live and didnt understand why. Am riding along in the new playthrough. The Owlbear fight was just as epic! You were rummaging through your inventory faster than carrot top!
I learned a few more things in Honour Mode: 1. If a mimic chest steals your weapon do NOT blast it off a cliff. 2. Even if you don't kill Grym you can still forge 2 sets of armor. 3. Do NOT attempt to disarm a trap on the way to the bank vault. 4. I spawned and killed 4 deva mace angels (only stole one thing), but after a long rest no mace in any of the pouches. 5. On the plus side, you can pick off most of the Grymforge dwarfs from above and call up the 3 ogre helpers to make the Nere fight almost trivial.
Almost didn't watch this, but SO glad I did. Great story! Big "Like" from me! (Near-exact opposite of my first try at Honour Mode, where I got killed by the first Intellect Devourers in the Nautiloid wreckage on the beach because I didn't know about their new mind-blast ability!) 🤣
In honour mode you can't stack things that improve actions: mind sanctuary, other sources of haste are going to break your current one to impose the new one, in other words: lethargic
I feel you. My first encounter with this boss was in honor mode. Somehow all the platforms disappeared at once and all my characters fell to their death. Was so close.
Similar thing happened to me in the Netherbrain, except it showed me the rounds left (5) but I wasn't prepared for that and it's special ability to be resistant to past round damage so I entered the Netherbrain area with only a couple characters, then a couple rounds later, I brought the other two companions through the portal but I only ended up leaving it with 150 health left or so. Also, I had so many summons in the dragon fight area but I realized they were all unable to jump through the portal making them all useless. At some point, the game autokills everything outside the Netherbrain portal so they all ended up dead.
Thanks to this video I now know to put Sanctuary on Jaheira in that fight against Ketheric. (I usually keep her in Beast form before she's in my party anyway)
Omg the baby pics at the beginning. Anyway, I was there watching the stream and it was fantastic, always such a pleasure to watch you play. You did great, I say well done!
I got Shovel first (the quasit) (got two in fact) and let her destroy all the spider queen's eggs, gave Gale the boots where he can't be entangled in a net, used invisibility on him and let him destroy the last eggs behind the spider queen in one blow. Made it a bit easier.
I've had 3 attempts make it out of Act 1. The first I did all I could (except Ansur) and got obliterated by Orin. Try 2 was wildly different as I had to dodge guards for all of the lower city. I made it to Orin with all my lessons learned from the first time... only to learn new lessons. The third try is almost 11th level, built to take out Orin, and I'm terrified!
Awesome !! I never completed a tactician mode before (always wanting to try a new class/subclass/party comp/companions again and again). Went blind (mostly for boss legendary actions, totally blind in act 3) in honor mode. Everything was "fine" (didn't kill everything since I didn't know they existed) but the fight with non-stop AE stuns from multiple mind flayers + spectators almost ended the run. Lost it just after when all party members fel in like 0.4s when brain destroys platforms. He had 57 hp, but I spent too much ressources killing the dragon, mind flayers, and the 4 "anti me"... I was not prepared.
Was watching. Tough lines mate, but it was an excellent run, and hugely entertaining. I learned a lot. I was a day behind you and managed to do it last night. Strat was quite cheesy but after a few hundred hours and several failed attempts at HM I wasn't messing around. Two barrels. Each loaded with every smokepowder bomb I'd saved through the entire playthrough, about 15 bombs per barrel. Barrel 1, detonated with Rolan's Tower nuke, melted the Emperor and his dragon for a tidy mop up of the mobs and illithid, Orpheus chilling under Sanctuary the entire time. Critical step for me was making sure every character was waiting with full movement next to the portal when it opened. They all entered on the same turn for a full turn 1 unload on the nether brain. Barrel 2, denotated by a lvl6 Flame Strike from Shadowheart, deleted more than half of the brain's health. The rest was done by Gale's suped up Curriculum of Strategy, some thumping ranged crits from my crit monster main, and finished by Orpheus' Potent Concentrated Blast for the poetic justice of it. Don't think I've ever enjoyed an end game sequence with this much satisfaction before, loved the epilogues. And like the sick b***ard I am, already loaded up a new game file eheheh.
You could also save the rune powed bomb from wulbren and just use the gondians to deactivate the steel foundry, that way you have a literal nuke at your disposal
@@kevin11dolla haha yeh that was my OG plan. Until Toobin suicided on three patches of hellfire AFTER I’d beaten the Titan. So had to use the bomb - although aware now there’s a secret code word you can use to blow up the foundry too
Didn't want to spoil the tragedy for myself so I watched the entire playlist of the run non-stop in the background before watching this video. Took 3 days but worth. Skål! 🍻
I just filled a backpack full with fireworks and mixed explosives and dropped it near the brain, my computer lagged like crazy doing this but it worked and one shotted the brain, also honor mode.
This happened to me too, I swear smh. I was at the END, fighting the netherbrain on the new patch 6 (this was my third try on honor mode...) My tav drank a speed potion and without realizing, ran into mind sancturay (which gives haste) and made my tav lethargic losing a turn :') and the netherbrain killed my party
I lost my honour run on the netherbrain as well. I can feel your pain. I thought Orin would be the run-ending fight but loosing it at the very last fight just sucks. Well, I am onto the next run, hopefully this time without dying at the last fight
if u feel better, mine ended to the red explosive shroom on the plattform, which leads to the boaaal fish people. I jumped with one character fast to the plattform and went down to the fish people, before the shroom could explode. After finishing off boal, i went back up with my whole party, the shroom exploded and threw everybody into the chasm. End of story
Yo man, I'm so sorry! I've really enjoyed your streams and videos in honor mode and I would happily watch again. Your tips have been really helpful for my honor mode run. If I complete my run, I'll dedicate it to the wolf 😊
NO WAY dude!! I was in that stream for a while on sunday and saw you beat Orin after all that preparation. I had to jump out of the stream but I had total confidence you had it on lock. Man, if/when I play honour mode I'm going to be so much less honourable. Good on you for taking it in stride. I absolutely would not lol. Just to share my story of this fight, I've only done it once blind on Balanced so far and I did not understand it at all. I had Orpheus with the stones but I totally forgot that he was special or anything, so I let him get killed fighting the dragon or whatever in the middle. I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing so I killed every single thing aside from the brain, and then when there was nothing left to kill and I had barely any resources left, I took several rounds trying and failing to go through the portal, then getting back to Orpheus' body, rezzing him, getting him back to the portal, and then very slowly killing the brain. The whole fight took me about 5 hours. (I might be including the sequence before that fighting your way to the brain stem, don't remember.) But anyway it was LONG! Not the hardest fight I've ever done but one of the most patience-testing for sure.
@@WolfheartFPS that hurts! I'm just trying to empathize with the situation. Is that wrong? Does that really make me a troll? 16 HP on the brain... :) 🧠🧠🧠 I was right there with you watching live and man, that was one hell of a shocking moment. That was must see TV lol.
SPOILERS! In house of grief, I managed to use the mirror of loss successfully with three characters, Gale, Astarion, and Lae'zel, failed with Shadowheart.. so three of them had +2 to primary ability, and I removed curses from them with scrolls, so they didn't permanently loose what they've sacrificed! NICE! That helped a lot in final battle! I used a trick, the one I used the entire game actually with ability checks, first thing I do every time in Emerald Grove, is destroying strange ox, for his shapeshifter boon ring, and entrire game I'm shapeshifted into someone else, to gain that 1D4 bonus on EVERY check in the game! The best thing about it, is you don't have to keep wearing the ring and shapeshifter mask to keep that bonus, just when you change form, in the beginning of each new day, I immediately change gear into something more useful! Before interacting with the mirror of loss, I did that to every character, to boost my chances! The way to destroy the ox, and NOT get everyone agro, is place a nautiloid tank next to it, and aim for that, you didn't technically destroyed the ox, the tank did :) But still, it's best to try that while no one is looking, and run away for a while, before you loot the ox..

That "Foe Hammer" achievement is easily one of my proudest on steam, especially since I did this the traditional way: blood, sweat, and tears. Not a speed-run, although that could be the next challenge.
For what it's worth, it was a much better ending than having Shadowheart miss on Inflict Wounds, which is exactly what would have happened, even with a 99% chance to hit.
Lol
Thanks for all the support! Congrats on your victory.
Damn! But on the bright side . . . you've got yet another memorable Baldur's Gate 3 experience you'll never forget! 🙂
Very true
I'm seeing a lot of people use Gale's self-destruct to avoid this entire end fight so they can get the golden dice.
Might as well. I've finished every ending so if point is to just win to get the achievement. Better to not risk it.
@@timbaker2024 you miss a lot of cool boss fights made a lot more challenging by their legendary actions, but yeah; if you're just achievement hunting, it makes perfect sense.
@@Zaudunyani ya figure get the achievement than try it all the way through. Dam spider in 1 almost ended me so have to be careful 😆 I'm lv 5 about ready to go to stage 2. I've done everything so far.
@@timbaker2024 if you're only level 5 and about ready to go to Act 2, you haven't done a lot of stuff my man. I was level 8 on my Honor Mode run before I left Act 1 lmao.
@@Zaudunyani well it got screwed up so very possible. The grove is hostile. The goblins are hostile its a mess thanks to the ogres...
I was there for the moment... You handled it with exceptional grace. You may not have the dice on your screen yet, but in my eyes you already have them in your heart Wolf. GG and WP on this run, despite the unfortunate end of this run. I'm certain your next attempt will end in success.
Appreciate it!
this video is so good and funny🙂will you do a stream tonight?@@WolfheartFPS
Missed this comment Thomas. I did go live hope you caught it @@thomasrasmussen6372
Glad I was there for it. Amazing run and you handled it way better than I would have. lol.
Thank you for all the BG3 content. You have been and still are a big part of the entertainment factor of BG3.
Can wait to see try No. 2.
Thanks Christopher
That's so heartbreaking, right at the end. I don't know if I'd even be able to get that far, every encounter I've had to reload at some point.
I was there! I think a win would have been almost expected so the actual end was more shocking and epic - one players will remember and talk about 👌 GG!
I mean true, I just shared the vid, instead of just, well, tbh, not watching it at all. Very good story telling, right? 😁
I'll post my own honor mode sad story:
I'm about to fight the inquisitor in the gith creche, I know it's a hard fight, so I throw the observer flask at the gith to soften them up, most of the gith end up focusing me anyway, I end up killing all of them only to have 3 of my party die leaving low health lae'zel alone against the observer which still has 50hp, at this point the fight is on the bridge so I end up having to retreat deeper into the temple, the vlaakith cutscene triggers but I decide to run towards the blood of lathander instead of going into the prism so I can teleport to camp to res my party before the observer kills lae'zel, little did I know that lae'zel leaves your party if you exit the room before entering the prism, which triggered an immediate game over.
This video is perhaps the best example of ‘a lesson learned in blood’ that I’ve ever seen. Talk about brutal.
:-D
Duuuuuuudddddeee! Wow! The last boss with only 19hp…that’s gotta hurt. Props for the way you handled it and making this awesome video!
Furthest I've made it in Honour Mode was the second Ketheric phase. The fucking Mind Flayer controlled the Nightsong and wiped my party.
The myconids got their revenge in the end.
Oh man I paused right before you made the joke to make the joke. Great minds
Haha love it
I was there when it happened. Never has been something so painful and funny at the same time. 😂
ENZYYYYYYY
That end music is a banger though. It sucks to get that close and die to shrooms
Grats!
This was a really good vid. Tons of funny moments, fluid story telling and it ended on a pretty light note xD
Thanks for watching
Am I insane for having watched you stream like 4 different playthroughs (counting EA)? Yes yes I am. Do I regret it? No no I don’t
haha well I appreciate you
Ouch, I don't know wether I would've been absolutely dumbfounded or if I would've spiked my mouse
Dude. Running through Honor Mode right now. Final battle is the only one that worries me. That timer and the fact you can't run away, right at the end of the game? Gonna be... brutal. That said, 19hp and killed by a mushroom cloud... while streaming? That had to hurt way worse than any game over I can think of.
you can always detonate Gale :-D I'm 70% sure you still get the golden die. Just don't do it in act 2 lol
@@WolfheartFPS Oh, Gale is soooo dead then!
@@christopherbohan1451 smokepowder bombs is the way

I’m glad I’m not touching Honour mode. 😂😂😂😂 nice video!!!
Give it a go!! It's so much fun rolling with the punches, gives the game an almost endlessly playable quality.
@@rorymkirk 🥺👉🏾👈🏾
I keep trying honor mode but my saves keep screwing up, wasted 8 hours on two different saves, its soured me to the mode.
i lost 2 honor modes to Ansur, his last try when he goes below 1 hp and gets back up surging his power, i could swear it says 2 turns on his surging until the blast, but it happens immediately his next turn. That's basically what made me tpk to him twice, the third time i took no chances and killed him with 3 party members only just in case
Good for you for attempting him that many times!
LOL, I also lost it on the brain. Lost Nyrulna. Failed to target target a cone spell properly, then failed to target a line spell properly 😅
I will do a second run eventually, but man, it stings.
Hey Wolf, thanks for the nice video and the entertaining summary. I'm proud of you and glad to have been there live. It was two great journeys the evil playthrogh and the durge honor mode. Looking forward to your next attempt. 😊 Thank you! Skål
SKALL
wall of stone works really well for ansur when he does the aoe nuke, have 1 or 2 scrolls ready and youre good
Thanks for explaining. Watched it live and didnt understand why. Am riding along in the new playthrough. The Owlbear fight was just as epic! You were rummaging through your inventory faster than carrot top!
Bro looked so defeated
Those haste spores were not the big brain move you thought it was...
I learned a few more things in Honour Mode:
Thanks! and LOL
In honour mode you can't stack things that improve actions: mind sanctuary, other sources of haste are going to break your current one to impose the new one, in other words: lethargic
Was that an Abjuration Gale in the Ansur fight? Man, what a champ!
Yup! Great subclass
I feel you. My first encounter with this boss was in honor mode. Somehow all the platforms disappeared at once and all my characters fell to their death. Was so close.
Damn!
As soon as I saw the haste spores I knew what was going to happen.
🤣
Spaw laugh in background would be incredible
You have incredible composure, man.
Thx for being a good sport man. Both funny and tragic. We go agane.
Omg the baby pics at the beginning. Anyway, I was there watching the stream and it was fantastic, always such a pleasure to watch you play. You did great, I say well done!
The way you ended the video...just GOLD! story telling at its peak 😂😂😂😂😂
Wolfpack Best Pack! also - ProTip: don't die :)
that "Let's Go!" after the Ansur fight had such emotion
Skalllll
This video is AWESOME. Sorry for your loss. But the tragedy... MAN THE TRAGEDY!
🍻 🙏
I got Shovel first (the quasit) (got two in fact) and let her destroy all the spider queen's eggs, gave Gale the boots where he can't be entangled in a net, used invisibility on him and let him destroy the last eggs behind the spider queen in one blow. Made it a bit easier.
That is just painful, I am so sorry to hear the run ended like that! I did catch the dragon fight live and it was a real nail biter
Oh, that's horrible! I feel sorry for you, but it was well presented and the callback to Spaw was hilarious. Nice video!
appreciate it! My failure = a nice video to make out of it haha
I failed my first live honour run too Wolf. You got this bestie you'll crush your next run 😊
Thanks Morgana :-D
“Honor is a fool's prize. Glory is of no use to the dead.” 😉
I love this type of content with your humor style and editing. Awesome video
thanks for the feedback
The elevators in act 2 are the real honor run killers. Characters slipped off the elevator going to the final fight in act 2
You cant make this shit up! So tough to watch. Just finished my tac run and am now nervous as hell for honor mode. You'll get it next run!
globe of invulnerability prevents the platform you're on from being destroyed
Doesn't prevent the timer for the fight ending though

Skål! 🍻
Hey thanks a lot Zarah!!! Skal
Your Zen attitude is to be commended Wolf. Damn.
🍻
I just filled a backpack full with fireworks and mixed explosives and dropped it near the brain, my computer lagged like crazy doing this but it worked and one shotted the brain, also honor mode.
That look of absolute disbelief on your face was priceless
Was an honor (pun intended) to witness it live. You did good, Wolf. Honestly, surviving Ansur fight was a highlight of the playthrough.
Damn!!!!
Bro WHATTTTT that is PAINFUL 😭😭
The spaw edit took me out dude
I lost my honour run on the netherbrain as well. I can feel your pain. I thought Orin would be the run-ending fight but loosing it at the very last fight just sucks. Well, I am onto the next run, hopefully this time without dying at the last fight
if u feel better, mine ended to the red explosive shroom on the plattform, which leads to the boaaal fish people. I jumped with one character fast to the plattform and went down to the fish people, before the shroom could explode. After finishing off boal, i went back up with my whole party, the shroom exploded and threw everybody into the chasm. End of story
Lol that's funny. At least you were only in act 1
@@WolfheartFPS true that. Your's was most epic and tragic at the same tim
Sovereign Spaw: "You might have won the battle, but you lost the war."
That ending with sovereign spaw had me cracking up 😂
Dead-beat-dad Kethric lol that is the best nickname I can imagine for that character.
Rough bro. Heard about this from my man Cohh, thanks for the full video. Epic, even in defeat.

@@WolfheartFPS that hurts! I'm just trying to empathize with the situation. Is that wrong? Does that really make me a troll? 16 HP on the brain... :) 🧠🧠🧠

The way to destroy the ox, and NOT get everyone agro, is place a nautiloid tank next to it, and aim for that, you didn't technically destroyed the ox, the tank did :) But still, it's best to try that while no one is looking, and run away for a while, before you loot the ox..
the way the spider levitated back out of the chasm lmaooo
You put everything.. last resort.. to a Shart...
Let that sink in
