He is a role model for every smaller aspiring rikishi. If he ever makes it to the sanyaaku ranks, it'll be a testament to his sumo and skills (not that it he hasn't already proved himself).
Every single opponent you just watched Enho defeat is a certified badass who has dedicated his life to sumo. These men are monsters, and Enho just happens to be the smallest one.
well said, Enho is a monster just the same as these hulking giants, which makes it all the more impressive, watching his muscles flex under the weight of their 400 lb bodies and hold it is impressive
This dude is an absolute beast and a great athlete, but they absolutely throw matches in Sumo. Not saying that happened in all of these, but I also can't say that they're all legit.
Enho is great because he showcases just how technical sumo can be. He brings so many techniques that carry over from other martial arts like judo, jiu jitsu, and even Greco Roman and folkstyle wrestling. But you also can't ignore that, pound-for-pound, he's a friggin' STRONG little dude. When he's able to duck under and grab a single leg, he has NO trouble hoisting those bigger opponents out of the ring. Hope he makes it back to the top tier soon!
I would say sumo is more of a sport than a martial art. If you do wanna call it a martial art it is the most defensive possible martial art to have ever existed
@@5thkiechannel Not so sure, Aikido is the most defensive martial art, because there is no competition since it's base on opponent's attack and force. Sumo can be used to destroy somebody, just look at the tsuppari (pushing hands) they make or even the hakkiyoi (initial contact mostly with head or shoulder), they can destroy you before the fight has even started... :) But I understand what you mean ;)
I love rewatching these fights, appreciating every detail. Knowing scenes like this from Enho may never come back. I would like to remember his as he is here.
dude i knew nothing about sumo except from pop culture i think and your videos have shown me and im sure others how amazing and deep this sport is you do an amazing service to SUMO and i just wanna say as a non sumo viewer you have made me love sumo and appreciate it even more!
The way he uses their weight against them, he has so much focus and awareness being able to use a throw, slap down or some other counter move at exactly the right moment in order to beat his opponents, he is truly a great example of excellent technique.
@@PentaRaus tu confonds la taille et le poids . Est ce que tu te crois meilleur que Mike Tyson ? Tu devrais regarder ses matchs et tu verrais bien qu'il est petit pour un poids lourds et qu'il fait a peine 100 kg .
Pretty skillful dude. I was learning about sumo wrestling and wondering when I was going to see someone smaller beat some big guys with speed and skill. Here he is.
There is also Chiyonofuji who was smaller than most of his opponents. Back in the 19th century there was supposedly a Yokozuna that was 5 feet 4 inches tall. There are also wrestlers that aren’t necessarily small, like Hoshoryu, but that do use more technical sumo than other wrestlers that can lean on their large size and strength to win by yorikiri or oshidashi.
Many thanks for this uplifting compilation. So appreciate all the info you put up. Hopefully we will again see our Mighty Mouse look this good again. According to the latest Enho update he is doing weight training now and has FINALLY gotten help from a nutritionist. Good going Enho!!
6:24 enho has a 1/3rd weight disadvantage and a 8 inch height difference and he LIFTS ABI off the ground and pushes him back WHILE LIFTING HIM UP its an incredible display of sheer power
I am very impressed to see this sport of sumo wrestling.. Highly disciplined fight.. Clean, Interesting, and fair.. The attract cultural order, Participants respect each other.. when throwing the opponent out, they do it carefully so as not to suffer serious injuries.. ENHO is a clever little SUMO, he is very strong and has an interesting skill style to deceive and defeat his opponent..
I think the problem is everyone has sort of "figured out" Enho...........kind of a universal adjustment, knowing most of his tricks and methods. I'm a huge Enho fan, but he's going to have to regain that element of surprise that gets him wins.
He's dealing with the unavoidable weakness of being so small. In a sport without weight classes, inevitably the top guy is going to be big or at least a certain size. Legends like Chiyonofuji who were relatively small were still at least around six feet tall and above 200.
@@JohnDoe-pt7ru I think his frame will take an extra 10-15kg if he tries it (and I think he should) but he's super super beat up and I think ploughing on through the basho to try and retain as much rank as possible isn't doing him any favours. If he can heel up his legs properly for a start I think he'll lose less matches.
@@jwhofer this is very well put. He's not going to overpower his opponents, and his quickness is hampered by his injuries. It's an uphill battle for him. Still, for me, he's up there with Ura in terms of "fun to watch".
@@JohnDoe-pt7ru Chiyonofuji was way above 250 and he was all muscle. Enho is doing incredibly well considering his size, but there is a certain level of fighters that he just won't be able to beat. He is a legend anyway.
great video! i love the little intros before each fight. very dramatic right before the little guy shows how it's done. the power he has. he picked up 362lbs and slammed it to the ground. epic
Lol. I requested this not long ago on one of Don Don's other video, and he has done it (I'm sure a lot of people have requested an Enho highlight though). Awesome vid yet again.
He'd be almost unstoppable in judo at his own weight class he definitely knows how to control his weight and his opponents weight. Amazing Sumo wrestler .
Something of note is that Enho is small, so he has a lower center of gravity than most other sumo. One of the things many try to do is raise they opponent's center of gravity which allows them to better manipulate the opponent. Enho is small so he's WAY faster than nearly all of his opponents, so he can sway the big guys with a lots more power and control faster than they expect or are prepared for. If they go low to match him it's even worse for them since he can just back off and drop them with his amazing underarm throw. You can see him do this in many of his matches: he get behind his opponents and uses lots of push outs. He's not any weaker either, he's just not as "big" as the other sumo. You can see how he's still able to push around people 200-300 lbs heavier than he is.
I've been enjoying sumo for more than 30 years and I've never stopped enjoying it.
Fact: everybody loves Enho.
Right! That's just a scientific fact!
He is a role model for every smaller aspiring rikishi. If he ever makes it to the sanyaaku ranks, it'll be a testament to his sumo and skills (not that it he hasn't already proved himself).
I do now too!!!
I am impressed he can lift a 150kg man easily

The lower position he can have is a key factor in his win i think.

What an amazing human being. To be half his opponents size or less and still reach the ranks he's achieved, nothing short of amazing.
Enhooooo!!! You can always hear the fans cheering his name.
Also, the bout against Abi at 6:30 is legendary. The smoothest leg pick I've ever seen.
Just GREAT to see Abi fly. 😄
He made that look as if possible by anyone - While in reality it's on the absolutely contrary 🤯
For a moment, it became a world of weightlessness.
That looks really physically unreal.
He makes it look like lifting a balloon

Small, but powerful enough to move ships that are 20 times bigger than itself.
very true. i agree. 🤣
Love the crowd reaction! Enho is a little beast! Great content!
A little beast of 100kg
The crazy thing is that he's not so fat, you can see he's all muscle under a quite thin layer for sumo
UNbelieveable. What an athlete! The leg pick against Abi is one of the finest things I've ever seen.
Inspiring. Looking at him lifting 2x his own weight
I don't think he kifted anyone 2x his weight... maybe 1.7 times his weight ;-)
And the weight is fighting back.
In the slumps abt my weight/strength. Don't know much about sumo but seeing this made me feel powerful. Thank you, Enho!
Fast, brave, strong, and courageous. Respect.
