The promise is not restricted to territories. The promise is much much bigger which is to own the government in every nation. When the almighty owns the government(Mat 6:10) then the promise shall be fulfilled - the father of many nations.
So the promise has been wrongly interpreted by Zionists and Judaism. The existing governments overseeing the conflict are not aligned to the promise or fall short of the standard of government thus in sin.
The government of god is three-dimensional. Each component though distinct works codependently.

The government of god is self-determined. When God made a promise to Abraham he was in effect making a promise for himself, his will, or the father’s will(Mat 6:10), be done.
If you know Jesus or the Messiah as an idol(a deity), you do not know the government of god because he came to “tabernacle”(a government) among us.

The situation in the world will continue to be volatile or “abominable” hence the abomination which leads to dissolation or destruction so long as the “tabernacle of god” remains unrealized or inactivated.
