This one is for my mom, because it's one of her favorites. I've been singing this one for literally decades, so it's nice to get a chance to record it. Sterling and I performed this song on our recent European dates, so it was fresh in our minds. Everything you're hearing in this recording happened in real time. I was playing the stomp (that kick drum sound you hear) with my left foot, and triggering the guitar synth (the synth string sounds you hear) with my right. If you look closely, you'll see the patch I used on my Roland GR-55 guitar synth I had named "Space Oddity", because it's my mellotron-ish string patch that I usually use for that song when I perform it live.
Thanks to Sterling for joining me on this. He still lives in Salt Lake City, and I'm in Denver now, so we try to get together and record whenever he comes to Denver for work.
My guitar synthesizer is a Roland GR-55.

At 64, and having had a lifetime of music...once a singer, still an acoustic guitar player, and bass player: Nights in White Satin is one of my very favorite all-time songs. So...that cover, bass and guitar and two amazing voices...is one of the best covers I've ever heard. I thank you from my very depths.

this is a real emotional song for me. I play the flute. My dad who is a farmer with no musical education whatsoever ask me once when I was 8, just starting playing the flute: "can you play that part?" and I managed (after practice!!). well it brings back memeories thank you so much guys :D

As I have come to expect from you, absolutely STUNNING. You and Sterling absolutely killed every part of this. The way you sung the flute solo, the banshee like wail from Sterling, the amazing guitar and baas work from you both, it's an absolute masterpiece.
I also really love Sterlings facial expressions when he sings. It adds a lot to the video knowing how absolutely into it he is.

Thank you for an excellent cover of a really great song. Mike, you have Justin's vocal mannerisms down without being a mimic. Also, the vocal on the musical interlude was well done. Sterling's ability to cover the rest of the vocals, along with playing a bang on bass, helped make this cover unique and sonically superb.
