@@momo8563 I think art has just grown. While finding a good, passionate artist was rare and awesome just a few decades ago, now they’re incredibly common. Not only this, but they’re a lot more skilled due to the infinite amount of resources available to them. As an artist myself, I’m not even sure if I want to pursue a career in art. It’s only getting more competitive and even if it’s my only passion… well, passion isn’t putting food on my table
Hey! As someone working in the animation industry and who has been a part of the recruiting process I just wanted to say you have an amazing talent and dedication and passion. Also... don't get discouraged by THIS particular experience.. sometimes, most of the times, studios keep your portfolio if you don't make it into a position, and then when something else opens up that fits your application, they call you and see if you're available. So who knows this might not be the end of your ATLA journey! Good luck on your future endeavors!
Hey if you don’t mind can you give us a bit of an insight about what aspects of her portfolio were strong and what might be improved from your perspective? Or what the recruitment team might have liked or disliked about it?
@@ty-zz9ic Hey! Honestly, I think OP's portfolio is really strong, though I'm an animator and not a character designer, so on specifics I'm not super knowledgable on the subject. I can say that when it came to really good portfolios and we had to pick and choose, it came down to the details and the specifics of the project. So it's not that they disliked something about OPs portfolio it's just that maybe there was another portfolio that adjusted a bit better to what they were looking for for the project. As an example I can say... once we were looking for disney style animation, kind of realistic reminiscent of the Disney Renaisance and there were some really good anime esque portfolios/demos sent our way, they were pretty good but there were other portfolios that had the specific style we were looking for, so even if the anime style portfolios were great and strong, the disney style ones fit the porject better and we chose those. Sometimes it comes down to... we're looking for someone who has a natch for battle scenes, or crazy angles, or this specific style, so even really nice portfolios like OP's could not fit the inner brief of what they were looking for. I don't know what the avatar crew might have been looking for exactly, but from what I see here, it could have been something regarding the variety? Let me explain, here OP has 4 pairings of student/teacher and their interactions are very wholesome, showing she can handle character interactions and those quiet moments that are the heart of the show. All of this is great, but it's just one side of all these characters. Avatar properties usually have these, but they also have a ton of action, betrayal, drama, sometimes even slapstick comedy, so OP could have benefitted from putting these characters in those type of scenarios. Or even have a villain design. What she has here are 8 hero esque protagonists, but no background characters that are one note like Cabagge man, no villains, or spirits which are a really important part in Avatar universe. My best guess is that the portfolio and person chosen had all the things OP had, but ALSO villains, spirits, maybe a bit of environmental design and so on. Sometimes is those type of things that give the portfolio an edge. I don't know if this helps. Again I don't know the specifics of the project.
Not to sour the mood but as someone who’s going through college for animation and character concept design it really is astonishing how someone with your skill couldn’t make it to to the final cut. It puts in perspective how astronomically far I have to go before I’m really considered anything in the art industry BUT also inspiring because I can still see where I can get in terms of skill and storytelling.
@katl8825 I definitely agree. That was why I suggested an alternative path of a internship at DC or Marvel comics in order to improve Qrbit's action drawing skills. She would also benefit from creating a original webcomic with these characters with her own worldbuilding; it would help greatly with exploring the concepts she likes the most while also building up the necessary storytelling skills to create great animation storylines.
“So if you like art it doesn’t matter what you study it will always be there” I really needed to hear that. I was an art class kid who failed to go to academia and ended uo studying art history and italian. I still draw and hope to make comics. To everyone who is about to apply for art colleges don’t be sad if you won’t make it. Unlike ingeneering, medicine or other fields that really, REALLY need a degree art is something that we can now thankfully learn online. Still, fingers crossed.
If you got to the interview stage, then they liked the work presented in your portfolio. They don't have time to waste if they didn't love your work. The interview is to see if you, as a person, fit's into the goals of the studio/project. What do you bring to the table that only you bring? This can be non-art related too! Ask for feedback if you can, if this was your first interview, you're doing great!
OMG YES- "accidental child acquisition" and "found family" tropes are also my favorite!! i'm officially subscribing to ur channel because i want front row seats to your success that is undoubtably awaiting you in the very near future. the fact that you created such a polished portfolio in a limited time frame is mind blowing to me, i just know you have an amazing journey ahead of you ☺️
Sad to see you didn't get in, but it's inspiring how you're taking it in stride and learning from the experience and everyone's comments/critiques. Honestly makes me want to try a little more with creating stuff. I hope someone who sees your art and these videos will pass it along until it gets the attention of someone who would be interested in hiring you. Maybe there's a different opportunity out there that will fit you better, location-wise and vibe-wise.
Keep an eye on the studio! They're just getting started and will likely still be growing for years to come. You can always apply again with what you learned from this attempt.
hey! I'm someone else who applied to the program and made it to the interview stage for the character design trainee -- it was also my first interview at that level, and I agree part of the sadness of being rejected comes from knowing positions like these definitely don't come around often. I wanted to say thank you for posting your process through making your portfolio and applying as well!! it was reassuring seeing someone in a similar position go through it (and gosh the wait for results was so stressful T^T) thank you again for putting yourself out there! I hope similar opportunities come for us in the future as well :)
You may not have gotten the position (as someone who's job hunting for a position that isn't even in the art industry _because_ no one's hiring me for my creative work, job hunting sucks. A Lot.) but you're the reason I've gotten over my recent art block! So thank you, you're an inspiration to this small-time artist you don't even know
Can’t believe how tight the final chosen submissions would’ve been, the fact that you got through round 1 is incredible! And your design is super inspiring, you’ve helped so many people documenting this process too : ))
Even though you didn’t get the job, your work to create your portfolio was incredible and it was so inspiring and encouraging to see your entire process. The next time a dream job comes around you’ll have that experience of customizing your portfolio already under your belt. We’re all so proud of you!!
I was rooting hard for you to get the job but I'm glad you got lots of value out of the process either way. I'm a video editor, not even any kind of artist. But the good vibes have helped me to do more personal projects. Keep at it!
Job interviews are insanely hard! I failed one at one of my dream companies recently and I was pretty sad about it, but it seems like you’re taking it extremely well. I plan on applying again next year, and the next year after that if I fail. The nice thing is, no matter how many times you fail, you only have to get it right once!
18:03 Agreed. i have a BFA and my teachers used courses through youtube. you can learn all you need online, you just need to practice more since you are your own teacher.
Despite the fact that you didn't get hired, I'm still extremely proud of you, you did amazing job. I have no words on how the whole process ispired me to work on myself and you are just my new fav artist
after watching both of your videos on your avatar studios portfolio i've found that i've always wished to pursue something related to animation. be it character design, actual animation, directing or writing of videogames, movies, musical videos and a huge list of etceteras. i don't think i'll ever actually try to but your words told me that, hopefully, art will wait for me. i love watching passionate people talk about their craft so maybe the love you display for it is making me write this but even so, i thank you for inspiring and reminding me of that buried away desire i still seem to hold on to.
>XD I love the detail of Gran-Gran Waterbender Teacher trying to sneak a shot into One-Punch-Man Airbender Teacher's glass with waterbending so he has to airbend the drink away.
I think it would be really rad to keep developing these characters and their universe -- they're all so intriguing and I want to know everything about this version of Avatar!
Even if you didn't get in, you should be so proud! You inspired many artists to pick up their pens and draw, me included! Your art is amazing, and I hope you feel proud about your work! You deserve it!
On the bending thing: it's important to point out that the character designers aren't the people responsible for designing how people bend in the animation. They have choreographers and martial arts experts to handle that - would be super wild to expect you to choreograph fighting and bending. Maybe it could have looked good in the portfolio but there isn't a ton you can do there
You just know that worldwide thousands of people will be applying for that role. Getting though the first round is insane. Even the slightest thing from the fact you don’t live in LA even though you could move there would have impacted their decision. They’ll have picked people with years of experience most likely. I bet we’ll known artists would have applied. Considering this was also your first ever interview is even further than I could have done! I was happy applying for bar or waitressing roles before attempting anything I was studying in my profession. Luck is also everything to do with it and even if they don’t admit it, it’s also connections and who you know. So many things are against you even though your work is high quality and good enough
I am so glad you made a follow-up video! I love what you said at 15:35 about burn out. If you feel burnt out, return to making art for yourself! Great Advice!
hi, i am also post-grad, but have really struggled with motivation and making art since graduating. i just wanted to say i really appreciate your outlook on art and skillset, and it has really helped me to feel more motivated and focus back on things i enjoy drawing lately. it makes me sad to hear you didn't get in, but still seems like a totally worthwhile experience and i'm glad you got to meet with the team! best of luck to you and cheers!
These videos were beneficial to me as I will be applying for jobs and creating portfolios soon after finishing my bachelor's. To any other artists struggling with what avenue to take or what medium to focus on today, do what you love, nothing is set in stone. I changed from a painting emphasis to a new media emphasis. 3 years ago I had never touched 3D software but now love it as well as my 2D mediums. Focusing on one media does not mean leaving another behind. Acquire your tools for the tool belt.
i had your application process video in my watch later for weeks and finally watched it today. then i wanted to check your profile for an update and was so surprised to see this video just got posted! congratulations on the first round, and on the following you grew from the great video and designs!
Also seen the prior video and seeing those comments inspired me to throw my hat in the ring of thanking you for being an inspiration. I quite literally saw maybe that one video, maybe a few others, but it inspired me to actually rework a story I had been sitting and building on for years. Following the tips and tricks I've seen has actually gotten me to rework the story and redesign my characters, bringing new life to them and resparking that motivation. Appreciate all that you're doing here and hope to see more ❤
I want to write a really intense comment about how meaningful this type of video is and how much they must mean to many people. Keep going, love to see more.
i am genuinely surprised by the way how you planned and also acheived what you wanted to do. Like I decide what I want to do next and procastiname for like a month and then forget that. Hats off.
12:25 I too love accidental child possessed, poco's udon world, Somali and the forest spirit, korato lives alone and buddy daddies are all shows that come to mind
this video felt so short, hahaha! once you said that it's getting long I realised that it's been 20 minutes and omg lol Your video on "putting down your phone and just creating art", and your line in this video about "art will always be there", are busy shaking my world right now lol. I've been at university in a field of mathematics for the past 5 years now, and not exercising my creative muscles has made me feel so frustrated and stunted. It's like you've given me permission to delve into art and the creative world again :)) I'm so excited to see where your journey goes! we'll be cheering you on every step of the way
You’re actually so amazing and inspiring!! Making it to the next phase is wonderful in itself and the way you had so many people rooting for you and attention to your portfolio. Your videos are supremely helpful for other artists and it totally made me realize the lack of preparation I had applying to these types of things 😂 No doubt you will get that dream job soon :) Thank YOU for doing this ❤
Thanks for the update! I found your channel through the last video. It's a shame you didn't get the job, but your skills are plain to see - its only a matter of time before you land something. I am new to drawing, but have been getting into it lately, and your videos have been very inspiring for me. Keep it up! Thanks :^)
i shouldve wrote this last video, but through the 4 duos, i love seeing the love for the water benders, the cuteness of the earth, the fun of the air, but my ABSOLUTE favorites were the firebenders! They captured my heart with their relationship, ur first video showing the interactions page made me fall in love. The way they interact with each other is so incredibly beautiful, the way both the teacher and the student support and compliment each other. It reminds me sm of girls supporting girls, their connection is so real and genuine, and its shown so amazingly throu just that 1 page i just love them so mjchhhh
The fact that you got so far with a interview shows the talent and creativity you have. Some of the questions people submitted to critique your portfolio did come off in bad spirits. What you did with the characters DID stand out than just doing bending, you did what Avatar does so well. Took inspiration from anime (with the trio characters/student and master idea) which Avatar even has. The bending would have helped, but the characters are what matters. The animators would focus on the bending poses. Well done you should be proud and whoever got the trainee position was very lucky/talented because you were a great contender.
honestly, your previous video made me wanna draw so badly that i ended up doodling like three pages of a tlok oc. which never happens cause i'm lazy. also the waterbending student is my favourite as well. it's okay that you didn't get the job. try again if you have the chance ! i'm rooting for ya !
Aww, I was rooting for you! I love how well you’re taking this and focusing on the things you learned. You never know what will come up in the future, maybe something even better for you. Anyway, your going for it has been an inspiration to so many!
I'm sorry you didn't get it! It's still really cool that you got to phase 2 of the process. I really love the characters you created. As someone who's trying to get into an art career this is inspiring af and I'd like to say thanks for sharing your experience!
Your videos really helped me get out of burn out. I currently have 2 weeks to finish up my portfolio for uni applications. Your video was very inspiring, and it helped me to have bit less chaotic workflow on my own portfolio and also to stop stressing so much over the amount of work i have on my plate. I'm really sorry you didn't get the job but know that you helped many people with sharing your work process. I hope new exciting job opportunities come your way soon. (Please excuse any spelling mistakes I'm dyslexic and English is not my first language)
Oof I had NO idea the klk art book was worth so much now--I bought mine six years ago for 20 dollars at a convention swap meet. 😂 It is SUCH a gorgeous book, definetly one of my all-time favorites.
I was convinced they’d hire you! Don’t give up hope, something else will definitely come up for you. Your skill and reasoning behind your designs is admirable, making it to the interview phase is something to be proud of!
I am one semester away from graduating college, with a BFA in fine arts and a BA in media arts. I started college hoping to come out of it as a confident character designer like you, but.. unfortunately there wasn't 'character design' or 'anatomy' or even digital art classes- it was FINE art, and i developed skills like painting, ceramics and stupid graphic design stuff- my goal feels pretty much just as far away from me now as it did when i started school. Basically- I want to do this; my life dream is to be an illustrator/character designer. But my technical skills feel like their just scraping the surface? Anyone know where i can learn to develop my technical skills now?? Without having to go through another 4 years of school??
I feel your pain. I went back to uni wanting to be an animator and learn digital art, but due to not enough interest my Animation degree was cancelled after my first year and I had to transfer into the game design course. I've been doing a mish mash of game design, graphic design and web design, but my real interest is 2D animation which it seems no one is teaching in my city. I feel really lost. I'm probably only a year away from graduating, and I feel like I haven't really developed any of the skills I wanted to, so I've lost motivation and dropped out last year. I'd really like to finish the course just so I can call it done and move on but it's easier said than done. 😓
Hey! My uni program was also heavily geared towards graphic design and other commercial design disciplines, so aside from a few illustration and animation courses I also learned mostly on my own. One class that helped me immensely was Knight Zhang’s class on Class101 - it goes into a lot of detail and really helped me develop an actual process for character designs. It’s also just a fun class so I’d really recommend it. Domestika also has a lot of classes which are super affordable (a lot range in the $20 range but the site runs frequent sales so I’d wait for those). Schoolism is another great choice. I’ve had trouble completing assignments on both domestika and schoolism since those are entirely self-driven. Class101 used to have a gamified points feature that extended class access which helped with motivation, but I believe they got rid of that now. It also helped that I had no hobbies other than art up until the first few years of uni, but that’s not exactly healthy so I wouldn’t call it advice. Best of luck with your art journey! Edit: I also meant to say that those other skills you learned in your program are absolutely transferable and can be valuable assets, so I hope you don’t feel too discouraged about that.
Heyo! Fellow art student here. I major in graphic design while my intrest is character design or comics. What i have found out is that uni does litetally nothing to help you reach your goals in art. You wont be learning much of anything about what you really are intrested in. If you want to follow a certain path in art, you have to learn it on your own following online artists and guides that are available. If there are no teachers that know your exact intrest, dont look for them. Try to be self tought instead. Honestly, i feel like learning what you want alone is often way more effective than having a teacher who may not know your subject very well.
This will probably be controversial or a hot-take, but I genuinely feel like most character design skills are just, natural. You should have a natural sense of creativity and originality and a good eye for design (colors, balance, etc.) sure, maybe SOME of those things can be taught and learned, but I do genuinely think that the core underlying skills are internal.
aww, I'm sorry you didn't get in in the end, but at least you made this cool portfolio and these characters that ooze so much personality and charm even just from the few drawing you made of them!!
I really loved this video, I'm studying medicine for my degree and sub studying agriculture, sustainability and fun stuff like that largely just online to bolster my knowledge in my chosen career but art has always been a big inspiration of mine and I still do it as a hobby though not as often as I'd like. Can't wait to see more content from you
First I would like to say that I'm sorry you didn't get the job, I was really rooting for you to do it, secondly I was very inspired by the last comments you read to come here and talk about how much your channel has not only been an inspiration for me as well as a compass, because currently I feel very lost as an artist, if I can call myself that, I am a 17 year old Brazilian about to enter the last year of school and it has been scary and horrible for me , I practically didn't draw this year and I haven't progressed at all, I feel like a total failure for not having finished even a sketchbook in over a year, and on top of that there's all the pressure of going to college, which is even more difficult for me because There are no colleges that offer animation or graphic design courses where I live, and there's still all the hell of AIs stealing our work, anyway, what I'm trying to say is that your videos have been anchors for me, practically teaching me how to draw again without fear The perfectionism that torments me is showing me how to work with what I dream of, one day I want to work as a character designer for animations and also write my own story, kind of like a manga, I don't know, and your videos have given me reasons to not give up and to continue drawing without stopping, even on the other side of the world you are helping me immensely, THANK YOU SO MUCH KISSES FROM BRASIIIILLLL TO YOU 😘💖🇧🇷 PS: espero q ter um administrador brasileiro seja uma prova que você está indo em um ótimo caminho, e quando traduzir está parte espero que entenda o meu sofrimento em escrever esse texto imenso no Google tradutor kjhkljjklllk I apologize for all the possible translation errors I made 😅
This video is really inspirational i had so many Concept story's that been in my mind marinating complete with storyline and world building & character development, though i never wrote and shared a story before it really surprised me how many artists (even professionals) can't even think of an idea i think im more of an art director than artist if i have a team i would most definitely came up with a somewhat good story
Having this be your first interview ever is such a flex haha. Congratulations! Already receiving recognition of your skills at a young age, keep going. 🙌
You got past the first stage, which means they definitely liked your art. Even if you didn’t get this particular position, don’t forget about the studio that you’re definitely a fit for! Maybe what didn’t become a trainee position, will be a job in a year.

Your "how i put my phone down" video encouraged me to finally start my own youtube channel. I just posted my first video on my channel Designs By Blaze. I'm going to be sharing my 3d art and my engineering design work there. Thank you for your amazing art and the way you communicate your content, it means a lot.
Sometimes, it's best to follow your first thought. When it seems like it's too much of a challenge, just go with it. Even if it doesn't go well, take a step back and make adjustments. Build experience not process. You process will evolve as you go.
Wish i could draw, but whenever i try my low self esteem gets in my way and i drop it. Super envious of yall being able to overcome it, i love your characters!!

It’s ashame you didn’t get the job, on the other hand it’s nice to see that not everyone succeeds the first time or seventh. As someone who is applying to my bachelor’s next year it sorta felt comforting to see that I won’t be the only one who might fail. You always see the good side on the internet so I appreciate seeing the other🥰 ❤
Okay, about the iterations thing. Different iterations don't have to be exactly in order. You can nail it on your first pass, and then still draw different iterations. Sometimes those other iterations cement the fact that the first go was the right move. It doesn't matter what order they're in

If you got to the interview stage, then they liked the work presented in your portfolio. They don't have time to waste if they didn't love your work. The interview is to see if you, as a person, fit's into the goals of the studio/project. What do you bring to the table that only you bring? This can be non-art related too! Ask for feedback if you can, if this was your first interview, you're doing great!
sad to hear they didn't hire you, but i'm sure something else will be in store for you in the future. Loved watching your portfolio process!
I’m sad they didn’t hire you but you did some amazing work here! Don’t give up because you’re an amazing artist
OMG YES- "accidental child acquisition" and "found family" tropes are also my favorite!!
i'm officially subscribing to ur channel because i want front row seats to your success that is undoubtably awaiting you in the very near future. the fact that you created such a polished portfolio in a limited time frame is mind blowing to me, i just know you have an amazing journey ahead of you ☺️
The fact they recognized you as a potential candidate is incredible and you should feel incredibly proud!
Sadly doesn't pay bills 😔
I wanted to say thank you for posting your process through making your portfolio and applying as well!! it was reassuring seeing someone in a similar position go through it (and gosh the wait for results was so stressful T^T)
thank you again for putting yourself out there!
We’re all so proud of you!!
i would so watch/read a series/comic about these characters, they look so interesting and fit so well together!
I was rooting hard for you to get the job but I'm glad you got lots of value out of the process either way.
I'm a video editor, not even any kind of artist. But the good vibes have helped me to do more personal projects.
Keep at it!
You are considered an artist too. You create stuff ^^
as a lurker i loved that comment that we are seen and valid too
Job interviews are insanely hard!
I mean a mini comic following these characters or some animated shorts is still on my wishlist because these characters are awesome.
You deserve it!
i'm glad you still get to showcase your work! i love these designs so much and im glad they noticed the quality and love and thought in your work!
its alright. im glad you gained this experience. you are really awesome
On the bending thing: it's important to point out that the character designers aren't the people responsible for designing how people bend in the animation. They have choreographers and martial arts experts to handle that - would be super wild to expect you to choreograph fighting and bending. Maybe it could have looked good in the portfolio but there isn't a ton you can do there
i can't believe u just posted the follow up. i watched the first part this morning and was thinking about it the whole day.
I like this girl’s chill vibes. I’m subscribing!
12:25 PLEASE watch The Deer King by Studio Ghibli alum Masashi Ando! It's an underrated film!
Getting an interview is huge!! Especially considering this is your first big swing at it. You are going places, I believe in you.
I am so glad you made a follow-up video! I love what you said at 15:35 about burn out. If you feel burnt out, return to making art for yourself! Great Advice!
I was rooting for you. It's sad that you didn't get in. But who knows what will happen next. If one door closes, another opens. 🤗
hi, i am also post-grad, but have really struggled with motivation and making art since graduating. i just wanted to say i really appreciate your outlook on art and skillset, and it has really helped me to feel more motivated and focus back on things i enjoy drawing lately. it makes me sad to hear you didn't get in, but still seems like a totally worthwhile experience and i'm glad you got to meet with the team! best of luck to you and cheers!
Your video helped me realize how my portfolio should look and now I'm fixing* it :)
*redoing everything with only a week to work
i had your application process video in my watch later for weeks and finally watched it today. then i wanted to check your profile for an update and was so surprised to see this video just got posted! congratulations on the first round, and on the following you grew from the great video and designs!
Hats off.
I need you to know that ever since I watched your first video, your characters have lived in my head ever since
Your voice is so soothing and you’re talented.. damn, I love that for you! Btw you would be a great drawfee guest!
Well hey, not everything will pan out. It's nice that you share this stuff too, often people only show the shiny bits!
12:25 I too love accidental child possessed, poco's udon world, Somali and the forest spirit, korato lives alone and buddy daddies are all shows that come to mind
So proud of you for even submitting an application! Remember you made it to the first round for a reason
this video felt so short, hahaha! once you said that it's getting long I realised that it's been 20 minutes and omg lol
Your video on "putting down your phone and just creating art", and your line in this video about "art will always be there", are busy shaking my world right now lol. I've been at university in a field of mathematics for the past 5 years now, and not exercising my creative muscles has made me feel so frustrated and stunted. It's like you've given me permission to delve into art and the creative world again :))
I'm so excited to see where your journey goes! we'll be cheering you on every step of the way
Their loss! The characters you did for portfolio was amazing 💗
You’re actually so amazing and inspiring!! Making it to the next phase is wonderful in itself and the way you had so many people rooting for you and attention to your portfolio. Your videos are supremely helpful for other artists and it totally made me realize the lack of preparation I had applying to these types of things 😂
No doubt you will get that dream job soon :) Thank YOU for doing this ❤
Only found your Avatar application videos today and I'm glad your videos crossed my feed
Same
Videos like this are so helpful when understanding how art careers can work. Thank you!
It reminds me sm of girls supporting girls, their connection is so real and genuine, and its shown so amazingly throu just that 1 page
i just love them so mjchhhh
Anyway, your going for it has been an inspiration to so many!
that is so wholesome. avatar is one of my favourite cartoon universes in the world and i still think you captured the characters so well aww
I'm sorry you didn't get it! It's still really cool that you got to phase 2 of the process. I really love the characters you created. As someone who's trying to get into an art career this is inspiring af and I'd like to say thanks for sharing your experience!
THATS WHO IT WAS!!! when i watched the og video i couldnt figure out who the water bending student reminded me of, but it was Yut Lung omg
I'm sorry you didn't get as far as you wanted~Your designs were really good and I hope that inspiration can continue for you in the future!
Schoolism, CDA, brainstorm, cgma and other online classes
aww, I'm sorry you didn't get in in the end, but at least you made this cool portfolio and these characters that ooze so much personality and charm even just from the few drawing you made of them!!
Getting in the second round is such an achievement and you can be so proud of yourself
Looks like this channel blew up! Really happy for you, love your art, and hope the exposure helps you do what you love!
Well, I'd say good on you. Even if you didn't get in, the future is looking very bright, so strive to it! Give yourself a pat on the back!
Your previous video inspired me to start drawing again after stopping for almost a year. Thank you for sharing your experience, art, and insight!
Damn I know it sucks not getting that job but I’m glad you’re pushing through it all with a good mindset. Here’s hoping for the next big opportunity!
I really loved this video, I'm studying medicine for my degree and sub studying agriculture, sustainability and fun stuff like that largely just online to bolster my knowledge in my chosen career but art has always been a big inspiration of mine and I still do it as a hobby though not as often as I'd like. Can't wait to see more content from you
First I would like to say that I'm sorry you didn't get the job, I was really rooting for you to do it, secondly I was very inspired by the last comments you read to come here and talk about how much your channel has not only been an inspiration for me as well as a compass, because currently I feel very lost as an artist, if I can call myself that, I am a 17 year old Brazilian about to enter the last year of school and it has been scary and horrible for me , I practically didn't draw this year and I haven't progressed at all, I feel like a total failure for not having finished even a sketchbook in over a year, and on top of that there's all the pressure of going to college, which is even more difficult for me because There are no colleges that offer animation or graphic design courses where I live, and there's still all the hell of AIs stealing our work, anyway, what I'm trying to say is that your videos have been anchors for me, practically teaching me how to draw again without fear The perfectionism that torments me is showing me how to work with what I dream of, one day I want to work as a character designer for animations and also write my own story, kind of like a manga, I don't know, and your videos have given me reasons to not give up and to continue drawing without stopping, even on the other side of the world you are helping me immensely, THANK YOU SO MUCH KISSES FROM BRASIIIILLLL TO YOU 😘💖🇧🇷 PS: espero q ter um administrador brasileiro seja uma prova que você está indo em um ótimo caminho, e quando traduzir está parte espero que entenda o meu sofrimento em escrever esse texto imenso no Google tradutor kjhkljjklllk I apologize for all the possible translation errors I made 😅
This video is really inspirational i had so many Concept story's that been in my mind marinating complete with storyline and world building & character development, though i never wrote and shared a story before it really surprised me how many artists (even professionals) can't even think of an idea i think im more of an art director than artist if i have a team i would most definitely came up with a somewhat good story
i love your characters so much im happy to see another piece of them :) i especially enjoy interaction pieces like this one
Having this be your first interview ever is such a flex haha. Congratulations! Already receiving recognition of your skills at a young age, keep going. 🙌
Congrats on getting to phase 2! Don't give up. It's just the beginning!
You got past the first stage, which means they definitely liked your art. Even if you didn’t get this particular position, don’t forget about the studio that you’re definitely a fit for! Maybe what didn’t become a trainee position, will be a job in a year.
your art inspires me so much! seeing how you made your portfolio gave me inspiration to continue writing my own original characters. ,, I'm glad i found the first video, I've started following since then :3
Your "how i put my phone down" video encouraged me to finally start my own youtube channel.
You process will evolve as you go.
you did so so well!!! don't let their decision affect you, you're amazing
Lots of artists like you, kooleen and some animes have really inspired me! Thank you,
5:40 :( unfortunate. im sorry that you got overwhelmed. it happens, but still 😔
Wish i could draw, but whenever i try my low self esteem gets in my way and i drop it. Super envious of yall being able to overcome it, i love your characters!!
Thank you for this video! It was so cool to see you go through the process of character design especially with Avatar. Thanks for the follow-up and takeaways from the process!
ur literally one of my new favorite artists!!!! the way u analysis things/ concepts astounds and inspires me to become an artist like u!!!! thanks for ur vids!!!!❤
They’re missing out! You are an amazing artist! Good luck friend!!
literally just got recommended that video! you did incredible, good luck on all your future projects
Don't be discouraged by rejection. In my field, it's normal to have like a hundred applications for one offer...most of the time rejection is not personal!! Just keep trying.
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get hired, but honestly that is so amazing on just how much you accomplished and that it was a great experience for you. Can’t wait to see more of your amazing work.
Thanks for making this update! I was very curious after watching you’re previous video. Also kudos for tackling those comments, my self esteem would take it hard reading some of that feedback online if I was in your shoes. Good job and work on!
I havent stopped thinking abt the waterbender since the last video theyre SOOO 😍😍😍😘😘😘😘
Thank you for the follow up video! Also love the senseis interacting
I LITERALLY DID A LITTLE DANCE WHEN YOU SAID THE WATERBENDING STUDENT WAS SORT OF INSPIRED BY YUT LUNG BECAUSE I WAS LITERALLY THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING
