- In this video, I explain how to protect your files and folder from copying, modification, or transfer to another place, change of name or deletion, for anyone who uses your computer other than the administrator ... This method is simple by CMD, and anyone at first can rely on it to protect their folder .. Also, this method can be used to lock the folder and prevent any user from accessing your private files..Lots of people want to protect their files from being deleted or copied, so when you watch the video you will learn “lock” the files to ensure that when we are sorting, browsing, and copying they are not effectively deleted.
Steps
Open the CMD, and type the command Lock the folder and prevent it from copying, moving and transfer
cacls d:\' Type the file name you want ' /E /P everyone:n
The cancellation order is as follows
cacls d:\' Type the file name you want ' /E /P everyone:f

Sorry for the delay in replying. And thank you for your comment.. If copying is disabled, some permissions from the server must be modified to allow the client to copy.
If you can access this server. Right click on the shared folder, choose properties, then click the Security tab, then look at the names of the users or groups added to this folder and select with the mouse on each user, and below will appear to you the permissions allowed to him. Try this:
Right click on your file > Properties > Security (tab) > Advanced > (click on user that you want to ristrict) > Disable inheritance > Convert inherited permission... (Do not choose "remove all inherited...") > click on that user then click "edit" > Change type to "Deny" > on the right click "Show advanced permission" > then choose what you want to deny them > Click "OK" > Apply > OK

Didn't work for me because my folder name had spaces. I had to put the folder name in quotation marks for it to work (only figured that after searching on the internet).

Hey I wanna protect my folder mainly from getting Deleted, i.e. I usualy put stuff in it on daily basis so will I be able to copy/download stuff in the folder after this and move stuff in it's sub-folders

Does it work for external hard drive folders? Like for example do the cmd thingy on external hdd from my laptop, would it still protect from other pc/laptop?
I tried it myself, but unfortunately it does not work.. It will only work on the same computer that I did the CMD command on.. But there are other ways to protect folders on the external hard drive, such as programs that hide folders or create a password. @@DOITMOSTAFAAHMED They want to have the files in a folder and be able to work with them normally. Edit, copy, move but only inside that folder. As soon as the user tries to copy or move files outside that folder, they should see an error message.
I should mention that the folder is actually a network drive that lives as long as our app is running. I managed to throw an exception from our app when files are being copied from the drive, but my client wants to also prevent folder copy which I still believe is impossible.

I think if the folder is shared across the network then the matter is easier for you. You can set the share file in the name of the user only, who has the right to copy, transfer or change the name, and you can actually prevent any other user on the network from seeing this file .. This program creates a network drive on the local machine using CBFS and exposes the files from the server in that drive. No user should be able to copy files and folders from that drive on the local disk. Just work with them inside the drive.
Now that I look back at it, it is a completely different subject.
I was just hoping there was some kind of setting on the actual drive (not in the source of it) that helps with this.
