  • I bought this 2015 Chevy Silverado from the auction. It was a third party sale and I could see some quick fix and flip work so I knew I might have some hidden damage but I was not expecting to find everything I did. Subscribe if you want to see the future of this truck and possibly some more! Follow me in Instagram for more updates! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think I should do with it!

      What did u pay for it ?
      At your price what will it cost to drive it ?

      I do autobody work been doing it for 12 years i could have been fooled by this one. However a red flag would have come up when i seen the airbags not deployed and replaced with dummy ones. Even if the wreck it appears to have been in would have blown bags. I think this one hit something and flipped on its side. It appears just to have hit a pole tho thats crazy. New owner might want to check the roof and driver piller for more crappy bondo work.

      Insurance companies hide damage too. I have seen cars torn down an reassembled after they found a bad engine or trans quite a few times. I have also bought third party cars cheap with no damage or issues.

      Looks like the trailer flipped truck on side, then slammed into something, maybe center median, guard rail, in the front.

      Sadly, I have to agree. Looks like I will be rocking the 2014-2019 body style until the next make over at least.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Here it is apparently 5 months later and I must say that the actual trucks look better live than the pictures of the 2020 pickups. I see several brand new 2020 Chevy pickups every day on the road. They do look pretty sharp imho. I'd say I have seen more new Chevrolets than the new Dodges on the road. I think it will grow on people who don't like them. I think because it's so different than the previous models that it takes some getting used to.

    • @vehcor

      I used to wonder why other people didn't respond to comments and I learned first hand on Saturday. It was easy to respond to 10-20 comments a day but this video made my channel blow up over night, literally. I had 11k subs just 4 days ago. Saturday I spent the entire day replying to comments and it was fun but that is time I normally use to make videos. I had 1000 comments and every time I thought I was done, I refreshed the page and there was another 50. I actually had to turn off my email notifications because my phone was constantly dinging. I now understand why the bigger channels cannot respond to everyone all the time. I do appreciate my fans, I would not be here without them so I will try to keep up with the replies as long as possible. Don't take it personally if a bigger channel doesn't respond, it is not because they don't appreciate you but it is in fact impossible to reply to that many comments. Thanks for watching and all your support! I do have a parts car Camaro so I may throw some money at some in the future once I get some of my other cars done and sold. Take care!

    I seriously hope you can fix this truck (and have the patience to do so) just so you can through it in their face the deserve it and more. If you can get what you need to repair the truck use this vid as evidence of their malpractice and report them to the BBB.

    • @vehcor

      That was their idea of "fixed!" I actually had plans for switching to these trucks. Hence the reason for the new trailer and lack of rebuilds as I cleared out old Grand Am inventory to make room for these monsters. I have never had good luck selling trucks but these things are super expensive and highly demanded. I had to find something since the Grand Ams just are not worth enough to rebuild anymore. Glad to see a sweet truck. There’s a salvage dealer in the boot heel of MO, buys from auction and resells. They always have late model trucks. Found out the hard way that you have to google the VIN on these and see the original auction photos, they doctor them all up to some degree.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a dealer in Granite city, IL doing the same thing. I bid against him on every one of these truck and see them in the IAA St.Louis auction a few weeks later. There is currently a white 2500 Sierra Denali that is back after being doctored up two different times (I was actually thinking about a video for this). I did search the vin and nothing came up. It turns out they had it for a year so there was no recent info on the web. I really like these trucks so I will end up with one eventually, maybe even a few. Thanks for watching!

      @vehcor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have built a good number of that generation as well. Once I drove this one, I was sold, there is no going back. After I sold this one and got the 18 Denali, I won't go back. However, since the 2020s are so ugly, I will have to wait to upgrade like I did for the 07-14 generation. I do like some of the options in the Fords better but GM is just easier to work on for me and all my trucks start off with needing some work. lol Thanks for watching!

      I'm prepared to put more in parts than I paid for the truck but that will still put me well under replacement cost. I have been looking at roll overs, floods, and burns. The hard parts are the frame, suspension, trans, transfercase, and core support with cooling. The cab, bedside, air bags, doors, fenders and dash are all the same as a 1500. The bumpers, grille and lights are easy to find take offs. My goal is to fix it but if I find a lower mile one that needs its parts, I have to go the other way. I actually have two buyers lined up on this one so the odds are I will be saving it! It might take me a few months. Time will tell, thanks for watching!

    I found your channel because of this video and after watching I moved along. Later I came across a repair video and immediately subscribed. I've been in the auto business for years and have to say your work is amazing and I wanted to say thanks for sharing. Apparently I'm not the only one who noticed, it seems like you've gained almost 6k new sub's in less than 2 days. Between your honesty (especially about this truck) and the quality of your work you've got a winning combination. I think a lot of viewers are tired of the click bait bs most guys post and going on the growth I've just saw in less than 2days I doubt that I'm alone.
    I'll continue to watch and enjoy your current style of videos. But I'm sure that I'm not alone on saying this, I'd really enjoy some how to or tips along the way. It really doesn't have to be any in depth video production and could easily be added as a voice over after. I realize that you've got limited time while doing the work and there's only so much that's possible in the timeframe. But I'm sure that the experienced viewers would greatly appreciate some technical information and it could easily be edited in to the time lapse. There's no need to change your style either, no frills, bs and to the point is something missing from TH-cam and I'm sure that you'll have a play button before you know it. Last but least is how do you keep your bolts and hardware organised? That is my biggest down fall and its like you have a tiny army handing you hardware off camera lol.
    Thanks for sharing and hopefully you don't mind my $.02 Either way I'll continue to appreciate what you share with us.

      Thanks, glad to have you here and the detailed explanation of your likes and room for improvement. It is quality comments like yours that have helped me to improve my channel and it is greatly appreciated. I don't know what happened with this one, it just went through the roof. I hope it continues, the more my channel expands, the more time I dedicate to it, so it seem to kind of snow ball. I do have my girlfriend to hand me the bolts off camera when I can con her into working. I will start the how to videos next month and the "how to keep parts organized" video will come out eventually. Thanks for your support!

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vehcor thanks for the response, you've nearly doubled sub's in less than 3 days and that's a testament to your work.
      It doesn't have to be a step by step thing. But more along tips for those of us that aren't noobs. In one video you could do assessing the damage, another great one would be describing how and where you do your pulls etc. A little elaboration will go a long way.
      I did spot your girl in a video and have to say you're lucky to have her. Mine won't step foot in the garage but she's still a great woman. Luckily my daughter loves helping too.
      Last but least keeping jobs organized and flowing is like kryptonite to me and takes at least half of the time. So I truly look forward to that.

    Great video I own since new a 2002 F150 XLT 5.4 Triton 2 valve 4x4 with 4 speed auto 135,000 miles with 3.55 tow package and happy that I get 13 mpg.
    My daily driver since new is a 2009 Mazda 3 s hatchback 2.3 with 5 speed auto and 189,000 miles. I have been dumping money lately for suspension parts at all four corners and a trans module. A trans module is not a rebuild. At the end of the last 5000 mile oil change interval I got back from a 2000 mile Marathon trip in 50 hours. Car ran like a champ. Did not burn or leak a drop of synthetic oil.

    I enjoy your videos.
    I have done one 2015 GMC Denali Duramax rebuild, it's now my tow pig / daily driver. Currently in the middle of doing a second one. We do however straighten frames on these. Both of my trucks have needed slight frame work, nothing along the magnitude of what you have there.
    Frame work is one of the things I farm out. My frame guy never said they could not be straightened, as you mention in the video.
    At first I was willing to dismiss your comments, believing you were just another youtube whack, then I watched some of your other videos. You obviously are extremely talented and now have me second guessing my builds.
    But again, my frame work is what I would call "minor", pulling the front horns back in, fixing a slight amount of "diamonding".
    I am looking forward to watching you complete this one. Keep up the good work.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Proper repair procedure is to not repair at all unless it can be done with no heating or only heating for less than 15 seconds no more than two times. Any pulling without heat to a crumple zone will result in a crack and welding is not a suitable repair. That is a lot to say, I just shortened it to "can't repair them". The procedure covers exactly what you are doing like the frame horns. As for the diamond, no problem, because the length is so long, a 1 degree change in a square frame can add up to a 3/4 inch difference at the ends, so pulling it back that 1 degree can usually be done pretty easily. If the suspension is pulled back and the section behind the wheel collapses or hit in the horn hard enough to collapse it, there is no way to straighten it within parameters so it is junk. Some of it might be the manufacturers over protecting themselves but I follow repair producers none the less. I did have a Chevrolet Colorado that the frame was heated to repair. It got in a second accident with a Grand Prix. The GP needed a bumper cover and reinforcement and the Colorado frame collapsed so bad in the area of repair, the wheel was into the fender and it was not drive-able. So there is some truth to the procedures. So you are one of the guys bidding me up on all my trucks! lol Good luck with the builds and the fact that you question yourself leads me to believe you are building some quality trucks! If you were just one of the hacks, you wouldn't care at all. Thanks for watching.

    • @0366Turbo
      @0366Turbo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike S I just looked at their websites and I have bid against them on every Dmax. Lol To be honest, they do not make their inventory up that much. I gives you a chance to look it over better than at an auction and not have to deal with the auction and transportation. There used to be many more repairable vehicle dealers but the saturated market has driven prices so high, the middle men are dying off. I used to buy from places like them long ago. Good luck with the builds!

    What I love about Chevrolet Trucks is the fact they can be rebuilt........ Will so many after market options depending on how deep your pockets are sky's the limit. I would pull the engine, transmission, transfer case out. Remove the front suspension assembly and subframe. Then the rear suspension assembly.
    Remove the entire interior wrap items to reused to protect from damage. Separate the body works from the frame chassis. Reclaim the lines fuel tank assembly ect. The frame chassis is scrap......sell it to put back in your build budget. Now get a new frame....... Start your Chevy truck Resurrection build. Enjoy the project

It appears your in it to make some money in a timely matter or a replacement vehicle for daily use. I completely understand that. My coworkers and I are just restoring them for ourselves and not for profit or I wouldnt be messing with rust either lol. It's extremely time consuming as I'm sure you know. Plus finding parts on very old cars can be very frustrating.

      @Joe Casson I have told people of stories like this and others and they all say I am crazy. I was part of repairing 3000 brand new Ford Explorers that had not left the manufacturers lot before they were totaled. They were repaired and sent to the dealers. I have had transport companies rip roofs off, train derailments and floods, all before they ever saw the dealer's lot. All sold as new.
      I buy what suits me. I don't expect everyone to have the same needs as I so I am not one to say anything about their choices. Every vehicle has its good and bad qualities. Thanks for watching and sharing the story to make me appear a little less crazy.

Water damage on an RV can go more than just 'skin deep'. Best part is it's just wood..... Enjoy your project. Looks like you got your work cut out for you. The trailer is my third. I had to leave my job little over 4 yrs back to enter treatment for stage 3 lung cancer, they gave me 'about 90 days', guess I showed them as I beat the cancer (GONE). didn't beat the chemo and radiation though. Thats some rough stuff but Im slowely getting better. At this time Im slow as Christmas and only good for maybe 3-4 hrs a day. Yet to decide what I going to do with the trailer, figure I'll cross that bridge as I complete it. I have no problems with my old truck but from a business sense, I have to move on. I did want a crew cab and all the integrated tech in addition. I'm not a fan of all the emissions on the new Duramax but it was time to upgrade. I originally wanted to build one for $20k but after years of searching, realized I was dreaming. I increased my price to $30k and it became possible, just difficult. These things sell wrecked for $20k+ all day and parts are not cheap. I will be able to pull this one off and end up with the truck better than before the accident. It will take a little work but it is what I enjoy and planned from the beginning. Is this the part where I say "because, MURICA!"? lol This is a 2500, it is actually a short bed (6.5ft). They do offer a long bed(8.0ft). and a dual rear wheel (8.0ft). The 1500 which shares the same body panels came with a short bed (5.9ft) or a long bed (6.5ft) which is the same as the 2500 short bed. They are pretty big trucks, even compared to my 2006 Silverado. I'm not a fan of trucks, I like to drive cars. They are less of a hassle to park and drive in the city and better handling. Unfortunately, I need something to pull trailers and haul parts and on long trips the size adds to comfort. Where are you from? Best wishes from the US.

      Midnight Rider My truck is loaded 100% of the time on the road. The trailer only comes off for service on the truck/trailer. Most people don't need them and they drive the price up for those of us that do. They don't realize or care about the money they waste to have them. You can rent a truck and drive a car and save thousands a year. I can't afford that luxury, my truck is for work only.
