    Great review - thank you! I ordered this sling bag because I was looking for a sling bag that I could use as a "personal item" bag on flights. But it had to be able to store a 13 inch laptop, and a tablet, chargers, my cell phone, 3-1-1 liquids for TSA, travel documents, and a small water bottle. It also had to have a "ride-along" strap for securing to my rollaboard bag. For me, it's more practical than a laptop bag because I can also use it for vacation touring and souvenir gathering. I have a good feeling about this one.

    Recently bought the cordura version bag. I love the features and the material. I only wish there was mesh padding on the back. For long term use, it gets warm as there is no breathability.

    Got this bag to replace an alpaka tech brief 16”. I found I preferred using the alpaka more is sling pack high back carry, but it’s strap is not ideal for that, it is set up more for lower messenger carry. This bag is made for how I like to carry a laptop in a sling. The strap is perfect, sits vertical on the back and goes horizontal in the front, allowing you to sit on a train without taking it off or messing with the strap. May try a Greenroom136 mission attaché just to have a similar setup in a different color.

  • @moming920
    @moming920 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    They called it a "travel sling" not because you can carry a week's work of "everything" like a backpacker and go travel the world. It is "travel" in a sense you keep your big stuff in your room, and you carry what you need to "travel" around city, or parks for a full day. So a flat water bottle, action camera, maybe even a small drone. Light clothing/rain coat/umbrella. battery charger, iPad, passport, pens. That kind of "travel". I just bought one and will be travelling with it, let's see if it works.

    So I acquired one of these so I could compare it to my Alpaka Bravo Max. The bag is great but the shoulder strap is super uncomfortable for me - it digs right into my neck after a few steps to the extent I have to walk with my left hand on the strap at my shoulder to relieve the pressure - not sustainable. I’m going to try it with a stabiliser strap that I bought for the Bravo Max - early indications are good! BUT I would rather not have had to.

      Honestly I wouldn’t spend the money on this bag if a DSLR is in your carry. Maybe a mirror less camera - but you’d be signing up for less protection than you’d want. This bag just isn’t the one I’d pick for a carry that includes an interchangeable lens camera setup

    I'm looking for a companion travel bag. This is almost perfect for what i'm looking for. Unfortunately the strap kills this for me. Since I carry a backpack as my main, I need to side/front carry this sling. If they made this with the daysling max strap it would be a no brainer for me

      Great question! I think I like the Alpaka Bravo Max most of those three…although you should be aware that it sticks out much more from your back…feels bigger to wear. The Aer is second on my list, feels great to wear but sometimes feels tight. I didn’t enjoy the nomatic navigator very much. I have a daughter who is eight and all her clothes usually fit in a medium or small packing cube. Do you think this would be a good carry on for like a 4 day stay vacation? Besides clothes she has AirPods charger and iPhone mini.

    • @ThePerfectBag
      @ThePerfectBag  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a daughter too. There’s a few problems with this. First, this may actually be a little oversized on her back. Second, the packing cube won’t fit as well as you would like it to in here. My experience is that you are better off with a traditional two strap backpack for that case. If mine were still that age I’d go with a Kanken and let her pick the color. amzn.to/3R37rFB

    Great review, thanks! Question: how easily can this bag be flattened and packed empty into a larger travel backpack? I travel to NY for 5-day work trips where I need to get to and from an office with a 14” laptop - I’m in the market for something compact, more durable for NY commuting than a packable day pack, and can be packed empty into a reasonably full Aer Travel Pack 3 (35L). I have a medical device I need to carry when I travel, so can’t easily just bring an extra carry-on, hence this question. I love the look and features of this bag, but is it kinda bulky when it’s empty? Or can it be made relatively flat?

    • @ThePerfectBag
      @ThePerfectBag  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very easily really, shouldn’t be an issue. It’s fairly flat when absolutely empty….but it’s not the type of bag that is so structureless that you can fold it or roll it up.

Is it passable or would I be better off getting the Finley?
      I live in a tropical country and found that single strapped bags work best for me, especially ones that can be worn on front, in preventing a sweaty back. I've tried out a couple of Aer backpacks before and I still sweat a lot wearing them (a little less though compared to non-padded backpacks).
      Only thing holding me back from outright getting the Finley is that Aer offers better shipping rates where I'm from and prices even out when including shipping. I also see a few used travel sling 2s selling for a good price.
