My favorite part of the video comes when you are apprehensive but bravely try each and every salsa that was offered. It is a pro move to explore the salsa which is integral to fully enjoying a burrito. Most people that explore Mexican food don't get it but you do.
For me,the best way to get the best bite to judge you should cut them in half,so you can bite from the center,so you dont get all tortilla in your first bite
@@eleveneleven11114 No. I mean REAL tortillas. Authentic and freshly handmade. There is a big difference. The tortillas I'm referring to are so good they can be eaten on their own.
Breakfast burritos are a staple here in New Mexico and they come with so many choices. Hand held, smothered, different meats, with or without eggs, vegan, green chile, red chile, salsa, Carne Avovada, soft or seared on a flat top. FYI. Green chile is generally pretty spicy. It usually has tomatillos and often cilantro. I also put garlic, lime and oregano in mine when I make it. It uses a green chile of which there are many varieties from mild to quite spicy. A red chile is just a more ripe green chile, so knowing your chiles can make a difference in what to expect as far as heat and flavor are concened. Some salsas use yellow chiles as well.
NM Breakfast burritos do not have salsa in them. Its either red or green Chile. otherwise, you're talking about a fusion dish. Typo it's Adovada, not Avovada. Carne Adovada is a pork shoulder braised in a red chile and some seasonings. The best versions of Adovada have been cooked till very tender and the pork begins with an good portion of fat so that it reduces down into the braise. It is never seared. Hatch Chile can range in a heat level from 1,000 to 8,000 scovilles which can be mild or somewhat spicy in the range of a Jalapeno or a mild Habanero. Saying that Green Chile is pretty spicy isn't a true reflection of its character.
Absolutely! Breakfast burritos are delicious, and you can't beat the deliciousness of bacon. We will need to try a chorizo one in the future. Thanks for watching!
I make homemade breakfast burritos with sausage, cheddar, homemade hash browns, scrabbled eggs, and seasoning. I love mine spicy, while my wife, ketchup to too spicy for her. I make a jalapeno sauce for mine, while hers is just a tomato, onion and cilantro salsa. I don't eat cilantro because I like a few people in this world think cilantro tastes like soap.
I love how you dive into American culture with both feet: it takes some courage to do that publicly. You guys really are going to wake up one day and realize you've become assimilated. I think that'll be a win for both sides. Almost any food in the USA will invoke impassioned opinions, both pro and con. Anything even vaguely Mexican-adjacent will do that in spades. Just a pro tip.. either eat the burito while wrapped and roll down to take a bite. Or dont put it down. There is a reason why yours are falling apart. You keep putting it down and pickikng it up .. One of my favorite places for a breakfast burrito is from a place called Fat's Burrito in Roswell and the other is a lil shop in a closed gas station on the way from Roswell to Albq. in Vaughn.. guy has one of the best green sauces to be had.
We used to call it people coming back to the Mother Ship, the restaurants and the motels did a hell of business. For a few years they had a VW Beetle meeting as well there in Roswell.

Breakfast tacos > breakfast burritos. Tacos give you the perfect bite every time and you can get a couple of different ones to try at a time. Those who know, know tacos are far superior for the delivery of breakfast. Austin is the king of breakfast tacos.
I'm afraid you can't only go to San Diego and believe you are going to find the best breakfast burrito in the US there. Breakfast tacos/burritos are a simple thing to make. Eggs sausage potatoes and cheese are the ingredients. Salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cumin are the spices also Pace Picante sauce medium it has more flavor than mild. Flour tortillas size of choice.

It sounds like you have some amazing breakfast burrito memories! Those family recipes are the best, especially when they're packed , We will have to try the Chorizo next time
@@thebritstry my grandma was an amazing cook so I base all Mexican food on hers....green salsa is usually tomatillo based....the potato chunks are usually home fries so they are more crunchy than mushy....btw if it's stretchy & you're chewing the tortilla almost like gum then it's not done properly
I miss California breakfast burritos. There’s nothing like them. I’m sure New Mexico and Arizona have their own version that’s fabulous. Man I miss a good breakfast burrito. They are extremely hard to find in VA.
There was taco counter inside a gas station near work that I went to 3 times a week for many years until the quality dropped off when new owners took over. I used to get machaca, carnitas, or chorizo breakfast burritos 🌯. $3 for a good sized burrito.
The best breakfast burrito in the US? You must be in an area with some that are pretty incredible. Did you know Burrito means little burro? So there must be a little burro meat in there somewhere. 😁Green salsa is many times that way because of the Tomatillo base they use. She sounds always right to me.
You know, being raised in Texas where our oldest and longest food genre is Mexican, because the state was owned and inhabited by such it is Texas food. Googly see our history. 30 years ago we never put rice in our burritos for goodness sakes. Breakfast lunch or dinner.😮
Think county fairs may be going on in some states, anyone mentioned fair food yet? Our fair in Indiana has roasten ears , pork tent and pineapple whip along with the usual funnel cakes and elephant ears
I was stationed in San Antonio for the army when I first found about breakfast burritos. My go to was a place that made the tortillas fresh, had a salsa bar that had chopped onions and cilantro. Back in 2014 I could get 3 of them with eggs, cheese, and chorizo for $3. Thats one of the things I missed when I had to move.
Normally burritos are not crispy so there shouldn't be a knock for that. They are supposed to be soft. Grilled burritos are either a specialty item or something you ask them to do
@@thebritstry No problem. If you want something similar to a burrito that is crispy try a chimichanga. It's basically a burrito that is deep fried, And they are less likely to fall apart
Breakfast burritos should include eggs, meat, potato, and cheese. Hash browns or tater tots are acceptable substitutions. I ate one every day in the 90s. I made them at home. I prefer bacon and smoked sausage with pico de gallo.
As a mexican I honestly hate using salsa on my breakfast burritos. Imo, ketchup is far better as a sauce for breakfast burritos mostly because it has potatoes and eggs. If it was a regular burrito then yes, salsa is good with it but its a breakfast burrito. Salsa just doesnt go well with breakfast burritos.
Good clip... but don't understand why with 4 different categories, only 1 winning restaurant per category, meaning for S&G.. why can't the least expensive also be the highest rated?? Makes sense 2 me.... no?
This isn't a fair competition, because , you're eating breakfast burritos in San Diego. San Diego has the best mexican food in the country. Encinitas has the best mexican food in San Diego.
Serranos is insane, not just breakfast, the Roberto’s on Encinitas Blvd for the California breakfast burrito is amazing, Karina’s on 101 for the original California burrito…. Also if you’re planning to cook your own carne asada, El Napalito on Santa Fe drive is the best carnicaria in north county!
Here's a tip ANY Mexican food with the name "Bertos" in it sucks. Here in the southwest we have Raybertos Roberto's. Examples include Alberto's, Royberto's, Jaunberto's, Humberto's, Jilberto's, Aiberto's, Aliberto's, Hamburto's, Ruberto's, Filiberto's, Hilberto'ect, ect. Bertos has some meaning I am not privileged to know. Many people will disagree with me, and say it's good food for the money. No yuk.
First taste test. Man I hope you are under a red umbrella or you two have one heck of a sunburn! Second taste test. Why you don't wear a white t-shirt. Third taste test. That one looked the best to me, sauces were too watery. Last taste test. My guess that one was the highest rated based on the fact the place was busy.
The salsa is green because it’s made with tomatillos in stead of tomatoes like the red ones
Thanks for pointing that out! It's always great to learn something new!

That's why you all need to go somewhere and try steak and eggs
Thanks for the suggestion! any ideas where we should try and find some?
They did look very tasty 😊
They were all good, but which would you have chosen?
@@thebritstryI probably would have picked the taco surf burrito 🌯 😊
10:11 You lose burrito integrity when it's cut.
You know, being raised in Texas where our oldest and longest food genre is Mexican, because the state was owned and inhabited by such it is Texas food. Googly see our history. 30 years ago we never put rice in our burritos for goodness sakes. Breakfast lunch or dinner.😮
Thank you so much for watching
Think county fairs may be going on in some states, anyone mentioned fair food yet? Our fair in Indiana has roasten ears , pork tent and pineapple whip along with the usual funnel cakes and elephant ears
We may be on our way to a fair at the moment….🤫🤗
@@thebritstry enjoy and the best pineapple whip came from the stand shaped like a pineapple here at least
An American would have 3 green ones on there and soak the burrito.
I hope you were also able to enjoy the radishes and pickled onions, jalapenos, and carrots.
Yes we did! which place would you have chosen?
I think this is the first time I’ve heard his name!
Thank you so much for watching.
Never use a knife and fork with a disintegrating burrito. It is the perfect excuse to scoop it up with some crunchy tortilla chips! 😊
Thats a pro move we didn't think about!!!! thanks for the tip!!
We don't mess up breakfast burritos in Texas!
We can’t wait to try them in Texas.
I usually just dip my finger into sauce cup to check the taste and the level of spi9cinest before pouring it on my burrito.
That is such a good idea, then you don’t get a shock if it is hotter than expected.
It's amazing how certain foods can hold such special memories! Those breakfast burritos sound incredible and definitely a tough thing to leave behind.
Normally burritos are not crispy so there shouldn't be a knock for that. They are supposed to be soft. Grilled burritos are either a specialty item or something you ask them to do
Thank you so much for the information!
Absolutely! You've got the perfect combination for a delicious breakfast burrito. Those ingredients really make it a classic!
I want one
😀But which one? Thanks for watching
try a California Burrito, which is invented in San Diego
Thanks for the suggestion, let us know if you have a recommendation?
That first burrito is very big.
Haha, for real! That thing could feed a small army!
Thanks for the advice!! and Thanks for watching
❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!!
Tiny burrito. In Mitchell Sd you can get one the size of a small child.
😂We need to visit there then! Let us know if you have recommendations?
When are you guys gonna try American beers. Lol
Andrew is up for that! which would you recommend?
Nico's is the best in O.B.
It was really good! a cheaper compared to the others... Let us know if there is anywhere else we should try?
When did Nicola's face turn bright red? 🥺
That will be the hot sauce!! 😂
Brits don’t like spice. 😂
😂 Thanks for watching
I'm surprised the burrito wasn't cut in half.
They were pretty big! which would you have chosen? Thanks for watching
@@thebritstry They all looked very good.
Good clip... but don't understand why with 4 different categories, only 1 winning restaurant per category, meaning for S&G.. why can't the least expensive also be the highest rated?? Makes sense 2 me.... no?
nice show but spicy opens up your taste buds eat more
That is true
🥰
Thanks for watching!!
This isn't a fair competition, because , you're eating breakfast burritos in San Diego. San Diego has the best mexican food in the country. Encinitas has the best mexican food in San Diego.
Thanks for the feedback, where should we try in Encinitas?
Serranos is insane, not just breakfast, the Roberto’s on Encinitas Blvd for the California breakfast burrito is amazing, Karina’s on 101 for the original California burrito…. Also if you’re planning to cook your own carne asada, El Napalito on Santa Fe drive is the best carnicaria in north county!
El Pueblo off Birmingham is bomb for $1 fish tacos
It's too bad they did not let you have both bacon and sausage.
Great point! why only have one....Thank you so much for watching
I gave you a thumbs up but I am not watching this video because I absolutely cannot stand burritos😊
Thanks for the Thumbs up!!
You gotta have hot sauce
Absolutely! Hot sauce really elevates any dish. But how Hot do you need to go?
The tortillas on a burrito are not supposed to be crunchy.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! soft tortillas are great for the perfect burrito experience.
No yuk.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Everyone has their preferences, and I love hearing different opinions on food.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments on each taste test! and Thank you so much for watching
Britts are so afraid of sauces and spices here in the USA
😂American "mild" is Brittish Hot Hot Hot🥵🌡
Very true. 😂🤣
