- In track and field, both men and women participate in the 100m, 110m/100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and other hurdle events. While the events are similar for both genders, there are some differences in terms of the height and spacing of the hurdles and the race distance.
In the 100m hurdles event, women run over 10 hurdles spaced 8.5 meters apart, while men run over 10 hurdles spaced 9.14 meters apart. The height of the hurdles is also lower for women at 84cm compared to 1.06 meters for men.
In the 110m/100m hurdles event, men run over 10 hurdles spaced 9.14 meters apart, with each hurdle being 1.067 meters high. Women run over 10 hurdles spaced 8.5 meters apart, with each hurdle being 0.84 meters high.
In the 400m hurdles event, women run over 10 hurdles spaced 35 meters apart, with each hurdle being 0.76 meters high. Men run over 10 hurdles spaced 35 meters apart, with each hurdle being 0.914 meters high.
Both men and women face their own set of challenges in hurdle events. For example, men may face more difficulty with the higher hurdles and the longer distance in the 400m hurdles event, while women may struggle with the faster pace and shorter distance in the 100m hurdles event. Additionally, technique, strength, and speed are important factors for success in hurdle events regardless of gender.

Makes total sense since women are on average 6 inches shorter. Now if they applied this to basketball reduce the rim by half a foot maybe WNBA have some ratings.
Bear in mind, men run 110 meters, and women 100 meters, in spite of the height difference.
Men are faster, therefore the hurdles are further apart from each other to keep everyone running at a 3-step. If the men ran 100, the last hurdle would basically be ON the finish line ..

Absolutely want to have good form on men's hurdling or you risk over-hurdling and that'll mess with your knees on the landing.
Im a female and back then my school dont have proper coach so the admin called in the boys PE teacher to train girls running team... this teacher decided to train us with hurdles that was as tall as our waist line (fyi we were 16 and most of us are 154+cm tall). Hell I was so surprised on our first match that the hurdle was shorter than what we were used to. So you thought we breezed it? Nope. ALL of us were thrown off our game for some reason our brain couldnt compute. We got scolded and was told that we shouldve won.Mamy left the team except for me and 2 others. I enjoyed hurdle because I feel that it was a cool sport and continued the training. After awhile my brain was able to switch gears whenever Im in competitions. Im not sure if this is related but now at 27 im starting to feel lower back pain and stiff joints whenever I dont do muscle activation often. The pain intervals has gotten shorter over time. I never went to check because I dont know who to consult (like what kind of doctor)

The used-to-be high hurdles and low hurdles The 110 high hurdles in the 440 low hurdles. Spending time watching track and field the last 3 or 4 years.
Not to mention men have the luxury of being taller!
Short men have to compete on the tall hurdles too.
So no, women are still the ones recieving special treatment as always.

I've done hurdles in my 20s, it's so difficult and technical. I've crashed and boy whenn u crash, it's a pile up sometimes and u get bloody hurt. 110m high hurdles seem like forever

I think also most women are shorter than most men. Not sure how much of an advantage this is for women, except for maybe unusually tall women.

Men generally have longer legs than women.
Other sports have made adjustments in gender difference like lowering the net in tennis for female match.
I hope other sports can follow, such lower the basket in basket ball, and doing other modification in soccer. This small changes can be more attractive and for a regular viewer.
