Using a grooved trowel to spread the glue it will help it dry faster. I have seen glued floors never dry because it doesn't have the grooves in the glue from the trowel. Good video!!
You make it look so easy! Trying this out today, we ran into a snag, once we pulled up the old flooring the concrete came with it So once we fix that hopefully we can watch your video five hundred more times and get it done!

Did you lay the flooring down right after you put the glue on? I'm paranoid that I should've waited for it to become tacky before laying the floor down bc I've read different opinions. How's your floor holding up?
I am adding sheet vinyl over pink floor tile (1950s house). Theres also a tile baseboard all the way around the bathroom so theres no wall space to nail wood base or shoe to. Any ideas on how to edge vinyl sheet in that situation? Thanks
Hello..great video..I didn’t see you use underlayment as I saw some videos did..is underpayment necessary for vinyl sheet flooring? What is it for? I’m installing vinyl sheet flooring in my kids bedroom.
hello and thank you, underlayment is not necessary for sheet vinyl if you have a wood subfloor, however it is recommended that you use underlayment if you have a concrete subfloor
Thank you for this "to the point" video ... I love it. I am doing my master bedroom in a few days and your video helped alot. Quick question though, is there a wait time before placing the furniture back, or does the glue adhere pretty quick?
Great video. My question is I will be installing sheet vinyl flooring but there is a low spot in the center of the floor what floor leveling compound would you recommend to even out the floor. The present floor has to layers of sheet vinyl down. Thank You
with a low spot you will have to remove the two layers and get down to the subfloor . There is a self leveling mix you can purchase to address that low spot before installing the new vinyl
Super Helpful video, I have a question I have some already installed in my bathroom but the edges by the wall are coming up. Can you tell me how to fix that and what i would need to get?
So you can just purchase the adhesive in the video, pull back the edges and reglue them down , you can also lay brand new vinyl right on top if you wanted too
@@danidiydit1 we just pulled up peel and stick vinyl from our kitchen and between that and the vinyl underneath there was quite a bit of moisture. So I'm wondering if laying vinyl over vinyl is really a good idea? Thank you.
@@karenbowman4736 moisture is NEVER good. At this point i would suggest pulling up ALL OF THE VINYL , you’ll need to allow the wooden subfloor to dry completely, ( if it hasnt rotted out) . If you have a concrete subfloor then allow to dry , you can test to see if moisture is still present by taping off a small square with plastic and the next day see if its moist. You absolutely dont want to lay any type of floor down on top of moisture
Nice job and video. Thanks. I've watched several of these videos and haven't seen anyone use a primer/ sealer on the plywood/ underlayment. Is it not needed? Any reason a paint roller can't be used to put the adhesive down?
Thanks Dani. Found that out as soon as I opened the bucket. Though I used a 1/16” trowel, some spots still felt a little “lumpy” with my hands, though I rolled the stuffing out of it. Think a little too much adhesive in spots. Not noticeable by eye or in sock feet.
They also have floor rollers, like paint rollers but made just to flatten the adhesive. But like you said if its not noticeable I wouldn’t worry about it!
Hi Dani, Very nice video. We just had a vinyl sheet flooring done in our laundry room which was damaged by water leak. The old vinyl sheet was removed by Mitigation company. Underlay floor was so rugged and a lot of hard dried glue. Installer install the vinyl without taking those dried materials even though I insisted to smooth it out. He installed it and in 30 mins he was done. W/D moved in right away even with my resistance that floor is wet. He left. 2 hours later Humps and depressions all over. He came 2 days later and wanted to rip the vinyl and put a new one. I told floor is rugged and you should prepare the floor well and apply a leveler and wait till next day. He said he have to do it right away so he can finish the job. I did not let him do it. My questions, is a leveler necessary and smooth out the underlay first? Can we just replace the parts that are visible not even under the machines?
In my opinion doing the whole surface is professional, only spot fixing the issue is cosmetic. Even with the hard glue underneath applying a heat gun would loosen it up and allow you to scrap the surface which the contractor should have known to do. I wouldn’t pay a contractor to do a half job like that
Your video was super helpful. I'm halfway through a two room installation. We ended up with a lot of glue getting pushed out the sides once we were done. Should I use less glue at the edges than the rest of the floor? I know it's important to keep it down at the edges but this is the type of vinyl that lays really flat and there will be cove base at the edges.
Hey there Erin! Thanks for watching . Yes sounds like you’re using alot in the middle which is pushing the adhesive out past the edges. I would concentrate on using less adhesive in the middle and using a consistent amount throughout. Most times we install quarter round molding to finish off the look so if that is your case as well then yes less around the edge would be ok because it would be secured by the QR
the best way to calculate how much is to multiple the price per sq ft by the actual sq ft of the room. My client purchased the material on her own so i couldnt tell you how much she paid for this roll.
Ok great job Girl! But I've watched at least 10 videos and No one shows tge tools needed or how u go around rounded edges and stand outs!! I have OCD which sicks doing flooring 😆. Please help
Thanks for watching. Some additional work would need to be done like filling in the grout lines of the tile before installing so that you have a very even surface underneath.
Hi there, Would this type of vinyl sheet floor work in a basement over concrete? I've heard of people installing these types of floors with some sort of adhesive tape, any thoughts? Great video❤
I wish I had watched this video a few hours ago, BEFORE I put my flooring down LOL. We were doing a simple room, rectangle 9 x5 foot. we cut correctly and everything but elected to go from the far side of the wash room to the entryway. YIKES. we have it pretty well flat now but WOW a lot of un necessary work and waste, it looks good unless you turn off the lights and put a flash light on the floor. OOPS. I am hoping it flattens a little more as it goes. IDNW I did not check for instructions 1st lol. It seemed so easy, I have even done this before years and years ago but I just didn't think about it. The viscosity of the adhesive would make it nearly impossible to spread using a paint roller.
