Indeed. Perhaps occasionally, Some guardsmen would prefer to hunt local wildlife, provided they're edible, as an 'pick me up' to forget about the awful food momentarily. Or pay for actual commercial food if it's a pretty normal world and not some hiveworld shithole. These are just my guess tho.
