  • I don't own this Yamaha LS-TA TransAcoustic guitar but I'm blown away by it!! Full disclosure I'll be using it for a future project but in the interim I filmed this un-boxing and this is my first fun impressions of this steel string guitar.
The TransAcoustic have an actuator inside the guitar. It responds to the string vibrations and then vibrates the body, the air inside and outside of the guitar and creates it's own reverb and chorus effects! Super inspiring to be outside and have such a full (non-dry) reverb steel string sound. Even inside without plugging in it's a blast to play.

I have owned one of these for a couple of years, and I love it. My one and only criticism is that it is very heavy to carry around. It is VERY solidly built, presumably to allow for the weight of the on board electronics and actuator. It is a decent guitar without the effects on. It is very addictive to play with the effects on. Plugged in, it sounds really nice and you can still have the effects on if you so desire.
It is quite amusing to turn on the electronics with the guitar "unplugged" and watch the other guitarists trying to figure out where all the echoes are coming from......

This is one of the best guitar I've ever played, I picked it over guitars in the 5k range. I just kept coming back to it.

Yep totally agree! I had to send it back to Yamaha and I still think about that guitar!

Had my eye on one of these for a while but never actually seen one of these in a store to try to see if they really are as good as they sound , excellent playing by the way 👍

Thank you Craig! Shaka's the best and I actually got him certified as a service dog last year. Had my full rig set up in the studio a few days ago and I practiced for a few hours for the DjangoVegas festival gig. Shaka slept in front of my cabinet the whole time....Don't know what that says about my playing but it's nice to have him in the studio with me.

I enjoyed playing this. But didn't like the weight of it, and I did wonder whether the effects would soon be gimmicky.
I love the colour of the spruce top too!

Hello. Could you please tell me the model of that case? I am searching for a hard case for mine :) Thank you.

Xavier you need the AG3-HC case. (as long as he has the LS and not the LL)
