Looks like Thomann & Harley Benton are teaming up & going for world domination...with this quality , down to a price it’s looking like a good strategy!!
Maybe I'll have to copy and paste my comments once in a while, or I'll make another episode because of multiple questions :) Well, short answer-yes, this one is totally worth of buying, long answer-it depends on what you want. If you have a lot of power-hungry devices, and some of those need 12 or 18 volts, then this is the right one for you. If you have power-hungry devices, but all of them require 9 volts only....well, I guess that powerplant ISO 1 will do the job, it is slightly cheaper, and is isolated as well (at least I hope so). I haven't tested the ISO 1 version yet, but you can try out if it is noisy, then you can still send it back, Thomann has a nice return policy. If you have less than 5 devices and all of them require 9 volts and less than 120 mA each, you can grab powerplant junior, it's only 33 euro, and has isolated outputs as well. But do not bother to buy the original powerplant (the blue one), or powerplant flex, because they are noisy. They are nothing but a daisy chain in a box. If you don't mind the daisy chains, so grab an ordinary power supply and a daisy chain cable, it's half of a prize of original powerplant (the blue one), and works exact the same way, but still, daisy chains are noisy solutions when it comes to power the pedalboard. Hope this helps you.
I'm getting the power plant Iso 1 pro if it dies big deal,it's only 50€ later I can buy Strymon Ojai in the worst case but I'll give this thing a try,Harely Benton are going to the top with their production, after a year or so they will kill all Squier and other budget manufactures,it will become the standard.Wait and see.
Thank you, I was searching for a power supply who can switch to a 18 v (just for one pedal, the SFT). Great video, I like your humor and integrity, best wiches !
Well....I have to put some threshold. My channel is demonetized, making this kind of videos takes a lot of time, besides I have to buy the power supply to make a review. That means - I have to spend money without making them. In case with Iso 2 I actually needed it, so this video is sort of nice addition to the power supply. If you want to speed up the process, well, you can support my channel in many ways. Like subscribing to my channel, or sharing my videos on social media, especially the music videos, so I can grow my channel. Or you can send me a couple of bucks via Patreon. All of that is a huge help for me. Otherwise, you can check ISO 1 for yourself. If you don't like it, thomann has a great return policy, so you don't risk anything.
@@leothemetal Great! Thanks for the info! I think I'll buy it anyway...Its just a matter of price but especially space under my small pedalboard. The Iso-1 may fit better... I'll let you know about it. hugs!

Great video!!! Thank you. I am totally new in the pedalworld. Question: What with the 9.6V pedals (Electroharmonix - POG2, Green Russian Muff). Is the sound not optimal with the 9V outputs? Looking forward for an answer. Peace!
I have no idea, how it workes. You mean-this is really devices that requier 9,6 volts? That's werid. Are those devices analog and made in Russia? Well, what I know about russian engineering, their devices can handle some tollerance. If polarity is correct, those devices require less than 300 mA, than it will work and that 0,6 Volts will not make a huge impact. Or it might cause some tonal changes or even some noise issues, I don't know, never tried those devices. Lower voltage doesn't damage them, thats for sure, wrong polarity might. Well, do you have any 9 volt power supplies at home? From any other devices? You might try to power your EH devices to see how it workes. Hey, the pedalboard I'm using is Harley Benton Spaceship, it fits perfectly well there. I'm not sure what classic jr. is. However, the dimensions of PP ISO 2 are 70 x 140 x 30 mm. If you know how much space you have under your pedalboard, you can figure out, if it fits or not. Hope that was helpful.
what is the difference beteen the pro and the ACpro versions. i can see one has a wall wart and the other has a IEC AC connector directly into it. but why would you choose oe over the other
I've never tested ACpro, can`t really say something about it. The reason why I use ISO 2 Pro is because it was the first one really isolated power supply for reasonable price. so ever since I've got it I don't need any other unit.
Hey I don't know what pedaltrain nano is. The dimensions of this power unit are 70 x 140 x 30 mm, so, if you know the dimensions of the underneath of a pedaltrain, you can answer your question.
@@RoryAherne that's why I don't rely on brands anymore, a lot of brands have good things to offer, and a lot of brands have awful devices. You wouldn't expect practice amp to sound huge because it has Marshall logo on it.
Short answer-yes, long answer-it depends how good your connections are and how noisy your amp is and does it conflict with pedals. One thing is for sure, if you get some kind of noise, it wouldn't be because of this power supply.
Is it just me or does the ISO-2 PRO also have a noticeable high pitched whine, just not as distorted as the original version? Watch from 2:50 to see what I mean
Appreciate your in depth technical review of all these lower budget power supplies and for this you get my subscription. Have you tried any of the offerings by Caline or Mosky?
They are chinese companies offering power supplies. The harley benton looks exactly the same as the vitoos iso8. The mosky c8 seemd to be a copy of the voodoolab pp2 and the mosky padola looks a lot like the cioks dc5. But if you havent heard of them then i am sure you havent tried them ;-)
I bought one of these along with a Spaceship 60 because even with shipping it seemed like such a great deal compared to a Pedaltrain Novo 24 and a 1 Spot isolated power supply. Being an idiot, I didn't consider the fact that it would come with a German power adapter instead of a US one. It'll cost more more to return it than I paid for it, so I guess I'm stuck with it unless someone can suggest a good quality 120v US spec wall wart?
Well, if Thomann ships to the USA it should consider to put the right power supply. Howewer the German power adapter can work with 120 V as well, it just might not fit the American socket. Maybe you can buy an adapter from US to German outlet, or buy some main power adapter that delivers 12 V DC with 2 A.
@@leothemetal I was thinking the same thing. I've messaged them, but I realize it's likely after closing time in Germany. Looks like I can get an EU to US plug adapter, but I don't know if the power supply will adjust to 120v 60hz or not. I just wanted to post a comment as a warning to any other Americans who might make the same mistake.
@@ErikJensenDetroit Well, I can assure you , that it will work with 120 Volt and 60 Hz, there is no question about it. But thanks again for the comment. I am not this kind of huge influencer; I have barely 700 subscribers, but this is most viewed video about this power supply. I actually sent your comment to thomann management wiht a couple of suggestions. There are a couple of technical sollutions like different plugs on adapters for different parts of the world. Line 6 pod HD had nice solution, AMT preamps as well. And Thomann is prepared to improve its brand. And that's why I startet this show on my channel. There are a bunch of obvious technical sollutions that someone has to show them to the world. Maybe we'll see some changes :)
Great video. I am selling the old Powerplant for the noise issue and I have to decide between the ISO 1 and the ISO 2. I'd get the PRO 2 for the size, cause it fits the pedalboard, but I'd get the PRO 1 for the higher Ampere output (I don't have any pedals that can run at 12/18V). What do you think?
@@leothemetal Many people claimed it wouldn't fit below the Spaceship 50M. But then I found a more recent English comment in the Thomann reviews that it now comes with extendable feet. So, maybe that wasn't the case a couple of years ago? Does your Spaceship has extendable feet and is the PSU definitely not touching the ground? Older comments said it would rest on the ground. So, maybe they improved the product more recently to solve this issue? What's your experience? I'd like to purchase that combination.
Im having issues with my distortion pedal every time I turn it on, it has this so called 60hz noise that disappears whenever I hold my guitar metal parts, and also my pedal part. Is that a psu issue? (Im using this iso2 btw)l
Let me assume that you are probably a beginner in guitar world. That's nothing wrong with that, we all started somewhere. Every guitar has background noise unless you put your hand on the strings, that's why a ground wire is attached to the strings as well. Distortion is basically a preamp, that makes guitar signal extreme hot up to the clipping. Of course it amplifies the background noise as well, so it gets more obvious with distortion. I was at Joe Satrians's live show, where he made sort of guitar battle with Mike Kenelley. Gues what they did to get rid of background noise. Afret each guitar player played his phrase they just turned their volume knob all the way down, and when they played again they turned it all the way up. I personally would mute strings with my hand, it's too much work to turn the volume knob all the way down and up every 5 seconds during guitar battle part. The point is-there is nothing wrong with your gear, from that point you have to learn how to use it. And how to deal with background noise. Hope this helps you and best luck with your guitar.
leothemetal thnanks for the thorough explanation. Appreciated all the details. I did fixed it just now, the problem was in the other psu, 1 HBPP and the other 1 is caline psu non iso. I did removed the caline from the system. I thought in the first place that combining this psu is ok thus I have more than 8 pedals. Now the annoying noise is gone. I’m a believer now, this psu HB ISO2 is isolated. Saved 200% money from the leading psu. Thanks again.
@@terouy8732 ok. It's hard to give some advice just from describtion of the problem. All the units are different, the problem may appear at unexpected places. It's good that you fixed the problem. Keep on rocking.

Well, as I said in a video, I haven't tested it yet. If this video will hit 20 000 views, I'll make the similar about ISO-1, and after that, I'll make a giveaway contest among my subscribers, so someone will get ISO 1 for free.
that's rather unrealistic considering its ten times what it has at the moment and four times the views of your most viewed video, but still understand that you want some profit out of it. Good luck with it cheers
Hmm...Well, what kind of profit are you talking about? My channel isn't monetized. And even if it was monetized I wouldn't make enough money to buy new gear for next episodes. I share my experience with gear that I'm buying for myself. I am not some youtube blogger who makes a living with his channel. If I buy the ISO 1, I'll spend 50 euro. There is no profit for me at all. And I haven't mentioned that making one single episode takes at least 3 days, so I can't do anything else while making videos. So, setting a threshold of 20 000 views isn't this unrealistic. I've already made 10 percent of the threshold. Unrealistic thing is waiting for some profit from my youtube channel.
I have no idea. I've never tried if it is hot or not. I'm just using it. It doesn't seem to break any time soon. and if it is the case, so I still have warranty, and it is still cheapest one.
@@AdnanOygen Well, I don't know if it was delivered with ISO 2 Pro, but if it was you can use it as mini daisy chain and connect two stomp boxes with it, it is possible that analog devices don't conflict wiht each other. or you could do it the same way I explained in Haley Benton powerplant junior. th-cam.com/video/TkHFIZzkwZk/w-d-xo.html However PP Junior is built differently as PP ISO 2 pro, so I can't say if it might overload the inputs, at least I wouldn't connect inputs A and B with the rest of 9-volt outputs together.
A lot of people said so. Well, I saw similar units by several brands, however, there might be differences. Some of Vitoos do not have isolated outputs. This might be special order from Thomann, that Vitoos make for them. At least, these do their job.

Great and informative video. Do you know if this would fit underneath a pedaltrain nano?
Hey
I don't know what pedaltrain nano is. The dimensions of this power unit are 70 x 140 x 30 mm, so, if you know the dimensions of the underneath of a pedaltrain, you can answer your question.
any idea what the difference between the ISO-5 pro and the ISO-2 are? looks like from description that ISO-2 just has 3 more outputs
Maybe I'll check it some time later.
@@leothemetal Thanks! i nearly bought the Pro 5 last night without realizing it might not be the same as the Pro 2
@@KudosCultureCartel Well, if it work the same way let me know :)
Great piece of kit totally noiseless 👍
Good man. I bought the Engl Power Tap which turns out to be a daisy chain in a box. I'll give the "cheaper" Harley Benton a go after seeing this
Engl has its own power supply?
@@leothemetal yeah you'd think they'd be quality but it seems to be just a rebranded piece of shit
@@RoryAherne that's why I don't rely on brands anymore, a lot of brands have good things to offer, and a lot of brands have awful devices. You wouldn't expect practice amp to sound huge because it has Marshall logo on it.
Can I safetly use it to power up pedals that goes in front of the amp AND pedals that goes into the FX loop without ANY ground loop noise?
Short answer-yes, long answer-it depends how good your connections are and how noisy your amp is and does it conflict with pedals. One thing is for sure, if you get some kind of noise, it wouldn't be because of this power supply.
Is it just me or does the ISO-2 PRO also have a noticeable high pitched whine, just not as distorted as the original version? Watch from 2:50 to see what I mean
There is no ISO-2 Pro in the video from 2:50.
@@leothemetal Thanks, my mistake
Appreciate your in depth technical review of all these lower budget power supplies and for this you get my subscription. Have you tried any of the offerings by Caline or Mosky?
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
What are Caline or Mosky? Never heard of them. Do you have any link?
Haven't tried it yet, don't know if it is isolated
@@leothemetalI eventually got the ISO 1 Pro, very nice improvement from the old one!
Thanks for the good info
You are welcome
Thanks for the review. Do you recommend Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO-12 Pro? İs it truly isolated ?
wow, I'didn't know that they made such a huge thing. I don't know, maybe I'll check it out late as well.
Thanks for the vid dude. Does this unit fits under a Pedaltrain?
you are welcome.
I used harley benton spaceship pedal train, it fits perfectly.
@@VideosVonDennis well, I had no problems with it.
I'm very surprised to see this is isolated while the vitoos dc8 isn't, considering the boxes are virtually identical and how small this one is
well, they are
Im having issues with my distortion pedal every time I turn it on, it has this so called 60hz noise that disappears whenever I hold my guitar metal parts, and also my pedal part.
Where can I purchase this power supply?
HB is a brand of Thomann.

will it fit a metro 20 pedalboard??
I don't know, never had a metro 20 pedalboard. You can check the dimensions at Thomanns homepage and measure your pedalboard.

Interesting
you are awsome!

Hey bro. What about ISO-1???? does it work like ISO-2 ?
Well, as I said in a video, I haven't tested it yet. If this video will hit 20 000 views, I'll make the similar about ISO-1, and after that, I'll make a giveaway contest among my subscribers, so someone will get ISO 1 for free.

💗 Thank you for your attention to my channel! ☆
hope you test the iso 1
If this video hits 20 000 views.
that's rather unrealistic considering its ten times what it has at the moment and four times the views of your most viewed video, but still understand that you want some profit out of it.
I wasn't talking about money.
👍👍👍👍
is it normal that this power supply is very hot?
I have no idea. I've never tried if it is hot or not. I'm just using it. It doesn't seem to break any time soon. and if it is the case, so I still have warranty, and it is still cheapest one.
how to use y cable?
Do you need to use it?
@@leothemetal maybe yes and i want to learn how to using y cable. that's it all.
@@AdnanOygen Well, I don't know if it was delivered with ISO 2 Pro, but if it was you can use it as mini daisy chain and connect two stomp boxes with it, it is possible that analog devices don't conflict wiht each other. or you could do it the same way I explained in Haley Benton powerplant junior.
th-cam.com/video/TkHFIZzkwZk/w-d-xo.html
However PP Junior is built differently as PP ISO 2 pro, so I can't say if it might overload the inputs, at least I wouldn't connect inputs A and B with the rest of 9-volt outputs together.
@@leothemetal Thank you dude

Did he just say "and there is a basic instruction on the side, so even a bass player can understand it"? :)
Yes he did
i think this is a rebrand vitoos
A lot of people said so. Well, I saw similar units by several brands, however, there might be differences. Some of Vitoos do not have isolated outputs. This might be special order from Thomann, that Vitoos make for them. At least, these do their job.

This powersupply kills pedals. 😕
Mine works just fine. How does it kill pedals?
@@leothemetal It worked fine for almost 3 years of average home use until this week. Connected an extra pedal in the chain, power connected, got power overload, result 2 pedals toasted. By the way, warranty expired 3 weeks before the incident.. oh irony.
