  • A rain sensor with Arduino can be used in a number of applications for example in this tutorial I demonstrate how the rain sensor is used to make an automatic car wiper with the help of a servo motor and an lcd display.

How do I connect the rain water sensor to activate a small motor or pump to bring it forward or backwards to a certain position?

Why the output remains as HIGH if I used arduino uno r3 ver 1.0 while it remains as no rain when i used arduino uno r3 in proteus?

Hi! I got the code working NO problem, but then, I am having a problem. I am using this for an actual implementation on a vehicle that does not have wipers to make its now hand operated wipers controlled/moved by this. I 3D printed servo mounts, a case, did all the wiring and I have two problems: First, the display lights up, but nothing displays on it. Not huge, I can live with that though would be cool to get that working. Second - the servo. When the Arduino Uno initializes everything the servo moves almost a 180 in reverse, pauses then comes back. Then, when I spray water on the water sensor, it only moves like 30 degrees (all movement degrees are estimated). Dry off the sensor, it stops, does another like 180 degree rotation in reverse, pauses then comes back. I need I'm estimating about like 50'ish degrees of movement for the wiper (+/-). I also have a passenger side I'm going to try to run from the same arduino as well, I assume I just declare the second servo under the first (drvservo, passervo), then copy the code for the first servo under it for the second, change the variable to the second one declared and reverse the rotation (not sure?). If you'll send me an email (either wapiti59@gmail.com or blue.knight@comcast.net), I can send you the arduino code (tried playing with the servo movement myself - obviously not getting there) and a video so you can see what I'm talking about, rather than put a huge post in here.

OK - I think part solved! I restored your original servo position and movement numbers and it is working (video available)! Now, to the passenger servo - Both servos are externally powered (bigger, much stronger servos). your myservo I declare as drvservo for driver side, passenger side would be declared as passervo. Is my assumption correct for controlling the passenger side, declare the passervo (and its pin connection) under drvservo, copy paste the code under each section only for the servo positioning (under the display printouts) changing the servo name to passervo and reversing the numbers in your position write statements (passenger wiper moves in opposite direction of the driver). Both servos are oriented the same on the windshield, with the servo arm closest to the bottom of the windshield.

It would be better if you specify what exactly is the problem with the code because as you can observe from the comments other people have used this same code and everything woked fine.
