I think rendercam is actually a better solution than what defold provides. It has more options for adjusting to window resizing and has more camera functions.
I try to avoid any libraries in this tutorial just to teach about Defold, but I do agree with you, that Rendercam and Orthographic Camera extensions are making camera handling way eaasier and more powerful ;)
Thankyou so much for this tutorial its helping with my cs coursework for a level however I wanted to know how to scale the camera so it zooms to fit my screen and not display black all around my screen
Thank you for pointing it out! There are so many things to remember when making each tutorial. I will make sure I will remember about fonts in next videos! :)
Do you know wheter ortographic camera's frustrum being always shown with the same size on the editor's 3d view is a bug? I expected it to expand and shrink with the zoom factor, so it shows the area it covers...
First : Thank you very much for this tutorial series :) It helps a lot. 02:30 Second : i didnt used a seperate object for moving the camera. I just added the camera as a child from hero and used "Orthographic Projection" and added the 2 lines to the script to aquire the focus. So is it needed really ? Or do i need it later for parallaxing ?
If you don't want ever to move camera away from your hero, then I think it's totally OK, because it looks like sprite is in the frustum of your orthographic camera and everything works. Usually hero sprite is on top, but sometimes some decide to add some foreground objects too or even effects on top of it - but if you offset your sprite back, then again, it's totally fine
is VSync automatically setting the game to like 60 fps then? (doesn't modern VSync work differently though?) and second, why are audio sounds (jump and land) significantly delayed when playing? (it's not delayed in actual .ogg) (they are also delayed in your tutorial)
Heyo, the compressor on ur mic is acting a bit weird lol. It has a high volume for like a millisecond whenever you say a new sentence and then lowers in volume.
Your channel is awesome! Thank you for your effort! It would be really nice if you could teach us how to develop classic games with Defold. I mean these kind of games: th-cam.com/play/PLDrGjPCkkytuEyXfFXz10dpDGRHmuCQhU.html&feature=shared
There are not many resources to learn Defold. We really need you man. Thank you for your efforts. continue.
Also, thx for the effort in putting these tutorials online!
Always nice to see another one of your videos. Looking forward to the next in the series 😃

Thanx!

Omg so small font in the editor is used here

Will there be a GUI tutorial?
Thanks Pawel, Defold has so great potential, but the learning curve is steep (you have to really understand what's going on undert the hood)

I didn't think about it, but it might be really useful actually! I will check on the forum/github if there is such request
