My goodness. I’m shaking my head smiling and laughing. I started to go down that path. But then i realized it was just more stress than I wanted at this point in my life. Now I’m in monk mode and renting. I can do anything I want. Not tied down. Peaceful. Stress is gone. I no longer have to figure out what folks are talking about. Don’t need translation. Don’t care. Thank the Lord.

Very enjoyable video... the way you're teasing / negotiating with Fatima and some of the looks that she gets on her face are so cute. You're doing the right thing and keeping it enjoyable for all involved... congrats.

The negotiations have started. Great work Markitos but in this initial stage one of the great lessons you have shown is 'buyer beware' as all is not as it first appears. Very amusing exchange too. By the way, be careful about that tent being open while you are away. We had a caravan years ago and somehow a family of field mice got in and nested in the mattress.

Marcos... You could easily build a small concrete block house yourself, it is not too hard at all if you keep it medium sized. Just run some mason lines with simple $2 line levels to level the lines. Yep, tear it down right away, and start brand new on everything. The ladies can help out a lot too. Everyone needs to learn some skills.

If her grandma owns the property then she already owns it, just needs her grandma needs to sign it off to her. If other siblings are involved you will need their consent and have them all sign off on it. If they want a portion you will need to get it split up which will involve getting the property surveyed and split up fairly. Good Luck Marcus!

Even if it takes time cause it can be a slow process, please Mark film the whole process! It would be so cool to see everything from start to finish. What a blessing it is for you to do that for your wife and kids. Even I’m excited about it. 😅

    1. You need the land deed.
    2. Go to local municipality and request land size survey. Cost 1.5K
    3. Have an attorney write up sales contract. Cost 4K.
    4. You need to have all living children of the deceased mother sign the sales contract.
    5. Register land sale to local municipality. Cost 3K.
    6. You also need to register at main land tax office in your province. They will tell you if any back taxes are owed on the property. They will also ask you if the land is developed or not developed. I'm sure Fatima family has never paid any land taxes. You will have to pay any taxes if any owed.
That's how to properly purchase land in the province.

Build a simple house just like vacation house,so everytime you and Fatima visits the village you have a place to stay and sleep. It doesn't matter made of bamboo floor and tin roof.So simple but with no water installation. As long as there's electricity you're good.
Buy a big water barrel and save rain water, for laundry and shower.Drinking water can be purchase anywhere.
Forest G and Maria would b very happy too they have their permanent place called home.

Landowner papers might be in DaanBantayan or might not exist except in someones cabinet, and if so and they hear about a sale, they will step forward with demands. Good luck.

I got an idea to insulate a dwelling so your a/c bill will be lower. Take leaves, dry them in a tumbler over a low fire. Then run them thru a commercial paper shredder. Make rectangular mactans, 10" thick and line them with plastic and pour in the shredded leaves and attach them to the walls. Do the same with the ceiling. Perhaps the shredder can be skipped by running over the leaves to compress them.
A couple feet within the entry door have a curtain of 6" wide strips of heavy clear vinyl as used at the entry to the cold room at the grocery store. I suspect this should reduce a/c and the leaves are free from the forest but you have the processing cost and mactan container cost.

Bought a 15ha farm in Kabankalan that was green field and fenced it, boreholes, house, garages, storerooms, built a weir, 900m of electricity laid on, livestock sheds etc. Be prepared to sink a lot of money into the project if you are going to do it properly to try and earn a living. Luckily I am a farmer from Tanzania all my life so it is nothing new to me. Before anyone comments, the land is in my wife name though it does state married to ……….on all documents. I wonder how some people ended up owning land and others didn't. The communities and villages were originally different tribes and the barangy was the chief. And where you lived probably has always been where you lived. Unless you were a mountain tribe that came down to find work in the sugar cane fields. And they let their workers stay in areas that they couldn't grow cane in anyway. I'm a history nut and I always wish I could have lived there then but I probably would have ended up with my head chopped off. Lol. But the Phillipines history is so interesting. The different islands were invaded by different countries and you can see it in the people. A history that is so vast because there are so many islands.

All you need is a really good coat of Rustoleum paint on your dream home and you are set. Throw some palm leaves on top, good as new.

Marcos buying your wife and kids a house is a smart move , in 2017 I was thinking if i passed away who would pay my rent for my family so I did the math in my head and it came out to 5 years rent to pay for a 100 square meters house so I spent 22% of my savings and built this house . No more rent and last month I figured it's paid for itself in rent If I was renting . Like anywhere prices are going up not down so good luck bro .

I suggest checking the Landbank and the local Barangay. Next time you can buy a bigger tent, ship it to the Philippines. I invested in farmland 15 years ago, 70K pesos per hectar sold it last year 500K, and 600 sq meters for 90K sold for 1M. You can never go wrong investing in the real state.❤❤❤

I think you are doing the right thing by resisting these expat traps of buying land, building homes.. I am here only 18 months so far, but I have NO interest in buying land whatsoever. I can find beautiful homes to rent in many beautiful places. Trading those experiences for the misery of dealing with a home build in the Philippines is a non-starter.

All siblings need to sign to sell land, but apparently anyone of them can pawn the land without the others knowing.
20 years later when the rest finds out, the intrest is more then the land would sell for.
My wifes mother went down because siblings needed her to sign for selling land. But when she come there it turns out it was already pawned long time ago and they just wanted her to come to try to scam her into paying their otang and when that didnt work they borrowed her phone and begging her relatives to sendmoney.
Noone fell for it since she never beg. I understand why she dont really have contact with them any more.

That house your talking about is on TH-cam prior to a couple years, maybe even 7 years. He's related to them. Him and his wife were OFW workers with 2 kids at the time. They came back, built the house. Than...like you said. A falling out between family members and hot arguments. Plus the road was to hard on his vehicle to. Basically they became citynized! They missed the luxuries and amenities of city life. The dude up and left with his family for the city? Which one, I do not remember. Plus, it was getting pretty serious with family and him being back. I only seen a couple if vlogs and his videos disappeared. But I always remember that house, the..Y..road and fields. Maybe you can find his videos?
