  • Quail keeping is gaining popularity as viable business for production of eggs and meat in Kenya. The demand for quails far outstrips supply leading to premium pricing of both the bird and its eggs. Samuel Muraya saw this business opportunity and invested in an incubator and hatchery with capacity to breed over 10,000 quails at a go. Watch the story of how quail farming in Kenya is growing.

I dreamed of raising quails since I was a youngster now I am 59 years old and nearing retirement. In Alabama my relatives and I own 79 acres of land no one lives there it’s just sitting there dormant. I wished I knew this business l would start a quail farm myself.

Phil Jones ayou can do it, just go to eBay and order eggs and incubate them, I did that and I now have around 70 with another 40 incubating again. They just turned 6 weeks old and nearly all the females are laying already. God bless and follow your dream!

      you still can bud.
      im 46.
did 19 yrs as a pipefitter.
and 16 yrs as a logger.
and i started raising quail this year.
      started w 20 birds.
built 3 incubators cost about 40.00
      now i have
      200 birds.and a batch hatching tommorro.
      dnt be intimidated.
quail are MUCH easier than chickens.

the right way, enough space for them to run around in and doesn't seemed to caged up. I support this kind of mass production

I really admire your perseverance when you first started your quail keeping! Many people would have become discouraged and quit. It's interesting to know how profitable quail farming is. I've never thought of that. Good luck to you and to the people you are teaching and helping out with it.

I do hope your employee's wear a face mask when cleaning the poop so they won't get a lung disease...a similar lung disease that pigeon owners/breeders get from cleaning out the pigeon lofts. Thanks for sharing.

i wonder how popular permaculture is in kenya and whether it s being applied in this instance? in my opinion there is much to be gained by learning this style of farming as it is the most sustainable way!!!! also are you folks collecting the fertilizer byproduct?? this is a very very valuable resource also! cheers from sweden!

14 Euro Cent per EG, that is verry cheap !
It is not true what the woman is saying, quail eggs normaly contain more Vitamin B1, B2, Phospor, Eisen, Kalium, Zink, when they get BIO food they can taste verry good.
