      @@joemomma8830 Sure of course. Long story short, I got my sec+ and then enrolled in a cyber security boot camp where I learned a lot of tools and gained hands on experience. Started applying and eventually found something.
      But I should mention I was doing IT support for 7 years prior to that and I also got a masters degree in cyber security about 8 years ago, so I think those things helped me land interviews. A lot of people did that boot camp though with no prior experience and got jobs.

I have a family so 60K would be nice to start at. If intern is on resume I think that would make getting a job of higher value would make me better off. Great content.

      That's awesome about your interviews, and sure about the experience part:
      Someone signs up for the course.
      They start working through the labs.
      They notice other people struggling in Discord and offer to help them.
      They fill out the Experience sheet (datetime, what they did, link to chat in discord).
      They send that filled out thing to me, then they can put my company on their resume with one of the three titles I outlined in the video and I will serve as their reference! That's all.
      best of luck with the job hunt

Please advise as a non IT background, will this course help be to get into cyber security or do I need some pre-requisite to start this course. • @JoshMadakor
      @JoshMadakor  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Kanam! Hey! The idea is that Cyber is not really entry-level, so I RECOMMEND having experience first--it doesn't have to be W2/job experience, but some kind of experience will be best. There are no hard requirements for joining the course though. I have implemented a few things to help with the lack of experience, such as the experience generating component I mentioned in this video as well as the Sec+ Anki Deck. If you are brand-brand new, the IT course is a good bet and will get you acclimated to computing and Azure/Cloud. ( joshmadakor.tech/it ) Hope this helps!

      @JoshMadakor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang you're a SOC analyst already in Security haha. I guess I'd need to know exactly what you do at work to answer. No doubt the course will help with SOMETHING, but if you are already "in the mix" i don't know how much value you will get vs someone who is in help desk trying to make the transition. I hope this makes sense! If you have really specific/detailed questions about anything, feel free to make a new comment so I get a notification :)

      CySA+ and AZ-500 compliment this course really well, but it kinda depends how much experience you have already. If you are sitting around in a real-deal SOC doing IR all day, you might not get as much out of it as someone who is doing help desk, but it's hard to tell. Sorry for the non-answer :(

      @Josh Madakor - Tech, Education, Career josh have you ever thought about partnering with a recruiter to help your students find a job after your course?

  • @emanauta

    I’m currently debating whether to take this course or the course careers course. I see that you an instructor there. What is the main difference? Thank you!

    • @JoshMadakor

      Hello!
      The idea is that Cyber is not really entry-level, so I recommend having some baseline cyber knowledge--it doesn't have to be W2/job experience, but some kind of experience will be best. (For example, having gone through Google's cybersecurity program would be good.) There are no hard requirements for joining the course though. I have implemented a few things to help with the lack of experience, such as the internship component I mentioned in this video as well as the Sec+ Anki Deck. If you are brand-brand new, the IT course is a good bet and will get you acclimated to computing and Azure/Cloud: joshmadakor.tech/it
      If you feel comfy and you are fine with the Cyber learning curve, I would check out the explanation video on the landing page if you haven’t already: joshmadakor.tech/cyber
      Hope this helps!

    I'm about to finish my Master Degree in Cybersecurity and Privacy next Debruary, but I'm tired to getting rejected from all positions I apply because I do not have 1,2 or 3 years EXP even for ENTRY LEVEL positions. I even got rejected from an INTERSHIP JOB because the "end client" was looking for someone with exp ...
    So my HANDS ON EXP are so far my projects I was doing while studying the Master Degree and some Home Labs I create with videos like yours.

    Josh, first love the content. Secondly I am curious about the prerequisites for your course. I know you don't "technically" need them but I am taking my Network+ today.
    Should I do Security + first or go into this course first?

    • @JoshMadakor
      @JoshMadakor  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There aren't really any prereqs, but I designed the course for people who have Sec+ in mind who need *something* extra to help them bridge the gap to actually landing a job. However taking the course, THEN studying Sec+ will give you some context into the stuff you are learning in Sec+. You can always do the labs in the course a second time as well, as you get "lifetime" access. Hope this helps!

    Hi @JoshMadakor, just a simple question. What kind of learning model is implemented for the course? Is it buy and keep like Udemy or more like a yearly lease like Boson and similar programs. Also, a clarification is it on sale only up till May 1st? I.E., April 30th or May 31st? Thanks in advance for the clarification.

    • @JoshMadakor
      @JoshMadakor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello guys. I've been watching this channel and many others for over a year. I've been studying some typing programs and I've been considering taking the CompTIA A + so I can be more familiar with computers before I get into a field of study and start spending money. I am really interested in this program, however, I have no IT experience. Will this hinder me from learning this material? I'm ready to sign up like... yesterday. (LOL) I think this program is my ticket. PCI DSS is the framework I'm interested in most.
