Folks please keep in mind: a simple Bootcamp will NOT solve your issue of not finding a job in cybersecurity. The GUARANTEED way, if that’s what you want to call it, is to climb the IT ladder. Namely: IT ➡️ Networking ➡️ Cybersecurity If you walk into a bootcamp expecting to get a SOC level job role in the end, I feel bad for you. Bootcamps by design are not meant to FIND you a job in this field. My recommendation is to find an entry level IT role and if you want to apply for a Bootcamp, go right ahead and network as much as you can once you’re on the inside 👍
Capslock offer a great course structure and certification and I know many people who have secured roles in cyber security whether its as a consultant or analyst...though not specifically SOC positions there is a guarantee in landing a role in Cyber Security.
@@Amirsol55every Bootcamp will say they “guarantee” a job in the end. They say that to make it easier for you to sign up and above all, pay up. There will be like 30 other students there who will graduate as well. You think all 30 of you are going to end up finding jobs? In the end, it’s not up to the Bootcamp. It’s up to the employers whether you get hired or not. You have to see it coming. The best way to do so is to learn skills that will set you apart from the rest. Also, try applying as soon as possible. If you want to join a Bootcamp, go ahead. Take advantage of their career services, that could help you a lot. But always keep in mind, they don’t find you jobs. They don’t get you hired. They can facilitate job hunting to an extent. They are primarily an institution whose goal is to make money
Hi Sandra, Thanks for the video! :D I am currently looking to complete HTB and get either the Pen-Testing Cert or the CDSA. Again, thanks for the postage. Greetz! Nathan
Rn I am double majoring in university of cyber security and film because once I finish my first major cyber security I am going to apply for cyber security so I can save up and transfer my job to another state because I'm only using cyber security as my part time career not my main career because I am studying to be a director and writer and producer and I am going to transfer my job to La to go to la film school and once I have enough experience of directing I am going to change careers
What’s your opinion on the tech industry nowadays? People are saying it’s in shambles mentioning pay, AI, hiring process, etc.. Has me second guessing while studying for CompTIA…
There's been another big round of layoffs for tech the past few weeks so it's definitely rough. This hasn't been impacting cybersecurity nearly as much as it has for SWE or areas in tech that may have a higher risk of being automated, which may potentially be more analytics roles from what I've seen. Cybersecurity's issue is mostly around the high barrier to entry for beginner jobs because HR just hasnt caught up with the times and then complain about "not enough talent" lol the industry has its fair share of issues but it's still one of the better career options with high pay and good growth. Hope this helps, best of luck studying and figuring out the right path for you!
Heard a lot of people are having a difficult time finding a job in cyber security cause companies are requiring a lot of experience and some have age discrimination, that true?
People have a hard time because most have never worked in an enterprise environment or even had experience in IT. A simple Bootcamp or college course won’t solve this. Apply for an entry level IT job and begin networking once you’re inside. Keep practicing your cyber security skills and offer this help to a cyber security team if possible. One of the surest ways of working in this field 👍
I haven't heard of Masterschool! Looks like they partner with companies that hire their students directly. Ill look into it a bit deeper, thanks for the ref!
@@WithSandra thank you! I’d be very grateful if you could potentially review their bootcamp or just say if it looks like something worth exploring. I might start the course in March but applying for funding first.
I want to learn cybersecurity. I really enjoyed your videos and the information you put out. Will AI take cyber security? I looking in some free courses to start out. Was thinking Google Professional Certification. What is your input on google especially me as a newbie?
Hey, thanks for watching! Dr. Gerald Auger has great content! His primary area is in GRC so I think you'll be able to learn a lot from his course and it's at a pretty great price. Best of luck with whatever course you decide to take 😁
What are your thoughts on GRC or auditing in general? I know you said they're looking for more people, but do you see this as a long tem growth area? How do the wages in this area compare to a "boots on the ground" type cyber security role? Thanks for the videos, great info as always.
See, the issue is most people can’t find a job in cyber security because they don’t have experience in IT in general. Or they don’t have experience in any enterprise environment. A simple college degree or Bootcamp certification won’t solve this. My recommendation is to apply the concept of the low hanging fruit: can’t get a job in cybersecurity? Try a networking specialist role. Can’t get that? Try an IT specialist role. Do whatever you need to do to get in this environment. There’s no “trick” to this. If you keep trying to find one, you’ll end up wasting lots of time and money
Hello Sandra thank you for the information. I need help ! I have a BS in Cyber and Data Security. I’m interested in CEH and SOC Analyst firstly. I try studying for security + but get sidetracked easily and work in healthcare for now. Is there a course that I can take that will perhaps help me pass security + and earn me an SOC level certification? Thank you
I appreciate this comment a lot actually LOL, but what you might really like is the IS2 CC cert - www.isc2.org/certifications/cc It's becoming very popular, some compare it to the Security+ AND theyre giving you free training and exam-fee waived! this'll be just as good if not better than another course online. More details on the free-ness of the cert here: www.isc2.org/landing/1mcc Hope it helps :D
Use your GI bill for a degree. These boot camps are scams. Even someone with a Bachelors in Cyber Security most likely won't find a cyber security job straight out of college.
I have one doubt.... that's i am the absolute beginner in cybersecurity field so I have no idea in this field. Can I join in workshop?is this paid bootcamp?is there any free bootcamp?
I'd say these are pretty typical price for a cyber security bootcamp, definitely cheaper than a college degree. If someone wanted a lower cost path into cybersecurity, courses + certs would be another option but would be less structured learning

In all honesty, your voice is very soothing.

Love to hear about the GRC camp. The only ones I heard about were Boyd clewist & Your IT Career. Which I'm sure about.
