  • After seeing the NS Conrail heritage unit leading a coal train on the Northeast Corridor, I didn't think I'd be seeing 8098 for awhile. However, as luck would have it a few weeks later, 8098 led 633 out of Baltimore for Keating. Two days later i got word that it would be making the return trip south for Baltimore with loaded coal from the RJ Corman. We ended up seeing it lead 632 at only three spots due to how fast they were going.

So what history can you share with your viewers about this territory?

It used to be a double track main line from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Buffalo, New York. The track was originally laid by the Northern Central Railway and was acquired by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1868. Used to be a high tonnage line, but most of the line has become a single track, and is still used by Norfolk Southern, and North Shore Railroad.
