Watching trains across New Jersey and surrounding states.
Chasing NS H59 on the Shippensburg Secondary
The very next morning it was on to the Shippensburg Secondary to chase NS local freight H59. This train runs west from Shiremanstown Yard to Carlisle and back. They left just as the sun was coming up over the horizon. A pair of GP38-2's pulled the train west from beautiful open farmland on the ex PRR trackage.

Nocturnal Locals in Watsontown
On Monday November 25th, 2024 I decided to check out the lighting at Morans Logistics in Watsontown, Pennsylvania on Norfolk Southern's Buffalo Line. We caught the two northbound runs out of Northumberland. Those being the return trip of H57 to Lock Haven and H45 running right behind them bound for Williamsport.

On Saturday November 23rd, 2024 I ventured to the Humboldt Industrial Park on the west side of Hazelton, Pennsylvania. We caught RBMN WHHB-1 working the Humboldt Industrial Park in West Hazelton with a trio of SD40-2's. Those being 3053, 3058, and 3069. After seeing them work for awhile we swung over to Nescopeck to catch NS 11Z heading south for Harrisburg and Roanoke with a nice lashup and de...

On Friday November 22nd, 2024 I ventured out to the Buffalo Line along with seeing NSHR-2 on the Selinsgrove Branch. On the Buffalo Line we caught NSHR-1 returning from the UCIR, NS 203 with the Wabash bringing the empty spine cars down from Baker Siding, and NS H57 with three trash containers bound for Northumberland. As H57 made its way into Northumberland Yard, H53 returned from Enola with i...
Sunday on the Lycoming Valley Railroad and Norfolk Southern
มุมมอง 1879 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The very next day, I heard that the Lycoming Valley Railroad would be doing an extra run which included working Newberry Yard and heading out to the Buffalo Line to grab their cut from Norfolk Southern which was dropped by H45. After they finished up we got some more action later in the day with 11Z and H5Q (extra H53) in Sunbury.
NS and Lehigh Railway in Sayre PA and Waverly NY
The very next day on Sunday November 24th, I was looking for some sort of adventure. I had future plans of a trip to the NS Southern Tier Line at some point in the near future. I ended up making a surprise day trip to explore the railroad operations in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and Waverly, New York. Despite the small amount of action I got during the afternoon it was still worth it to explore the a...

On Saturday November 16th, 2024 I made a visit to Norfolk Southern's Port Road and Royalton Branches. Starting in Columbia, we would chase empty coal train Y97 from Columbia to Royalton. The action continued right after that at ROY interlocking where the NS Royalton Branch meets Amtrak's Keystone Corridor. A westbound Keystone Service train soon rolled west and was followed by the eastbound Pen...

On a cold Monday November 11th, 2024 I got word that a southbound loaded coal train was on its way south from Keating bound for Norfolk, Virginia. What I did not hear was the other train that was going northbound heading to Keating with empty hoppers being 633. I made the drive up to Montgomery to milepost 235 where I caught NS 578 heading southbound. I then chase them down to CP WAT in Watsont...

The very next day on Sunday November 10th, I was going to see the Lycoming Valley Railroad in Williamsport, but once I got word they weren't running my backup plan was to head to Scranton and Pittston. I ended up heading to Pittston first thing and got there just after sunrise. The railroad eventually got going with PIJT getting set up at the station, but the freight jobs running that day out o...
Veterans Voyage on the North Shore Railroad

On Saturday November 9th, 2024 the North Shore Railroad operated excursions on the Union County industrial between Lewisburg and West Milton on the former Reading Company trackage. The passenger cars were all r...

A few days later on Sunday November 3rd, I spent some time seeing some passenger trains on the Reading and Northern as it was the final day of the railroads fall foliage season. We first caught the RDC's departing Port Clinton for Jim Thorpe after coming off the Pottsville Branch. After that we chased the F Units from Hamburg to Tamaqua. I then decided to go look for QASD as some power was miss...

On Friday November 1st, 2024 I stopped by Northumberland to see what was going during the last light of the day. As I was driving on the North Shore Railroad's headquarters I noticed a headlight. It was NSHR-6 returning from their work in Berwick, Bloomsburg, and Danville on the ex Delaware Lackawnna and Western. We watched NSHR 1940 head into the shed for the weekend as the crew finished a lon...

Just a day after spending some time in the Scranton area, I ended up chasing NS 11Z the next day on the southernmost 20 miles of the Sunbury Line from Catawissa to CP KASE and the connection with the NS Buffalo Line in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. The power was a solo AC44C6M as the leader with an SD70ACE as the rear DPU.

Great video!
Good to hear Sunbury still has mechanical crossing bells!
Yes notice that the bell is mounted on the cabinet. Rare.
Do you know what time H66 hit Jim Thorpe and Weatherly?
Awesome, it would be if the R&N can do future excursions from the Reading Outer Station to the Vosburg tunnel and back!
Great video, loved NS #4000
Well done!
Great catches awesome chase capture and nice video
Nice
Oh cool I was the conductor on the train
@11:00 you are standing on, or only a few feet from the roadbed of the WAG railroad, ex-B&O, ex-B&S @13:00 the line is owned by NS. It is leased by the WNY&P.
1. This is nowhere near either of those railroads. 2. Its not leased. The WNYP owns it north of Driftwood, however its just rare now that they run down to Driftwood. The only interchange NS has in Driftwood is with the B&P.
@@gardenstaterailfan 1 I guess I stand corrected. However, since the the line ran from Galeton south through Wharton to Sinnamahoning where it connected to PRR how close does it have to be to not be close? The B&O owned it who sold to WAG. Due to flooding it was abandoned. To this day a satellite picture shows the roadbed. 2. I guess the WNY&P guys I know don't know anything. 3. I live here and have my whole life, so I would be the least likely to know any of our local history.
@@gardenstaterailfanSo when WAG took over the piece from Burrows to Sinnamahoning had already been abandoned by the B&O, apparently. The original Wellsville, Addison & Galeton Railroad (WA&G) consisted of two main lines originating from Galeton, Pennsylvania. One ran northwest to Wellsville, New York, where it connected to the Erie Railroad; the other ran northeast to Addison, New York and also connected to the Erie. Two short segments completed the trackage, one running east to Ansonia, Pennsylvania and a connection with the New York Central Railroad, and another southwest to Burrows, representing the stub end of the former connection to the B&O.
i chased the sayer dam/curtin village train. i hope to have the photos and videos up soon
Dude awesome catch.
Great video! I'll go on a small rant here and say it's very nice to see old power running around on class 1 railroads in 2024. They have surely earned their keep and keep on ticking day after day, definitely a true testament to railroad engineering. It's also very nice to hear different horns on diesels other than the monotonous GE's that dominate the rails today. Horns are definitely the song of railroaders past that ran these engines when they were new, when railroading was different, and when times were different. Railfan on my friend!
Great catches and awesome video
Great video of this area, I used to run around there years ago, and I should really go back given I live less then 45 minutes away to the south. I really like the catch of 650 coming out of Enola Yard. Normally empty coal trains comes of D or G track and gets staged at CP-banks until the crew comes, but giving this train had a rare power setup they would have a hard time getting the train going up the grade and onto the main line.
Weatherly has a nice ex-LV station, too bad R&N can’t go there with an excursion train from Jim Thorpe. There’s also no direct switch access to NS at Old Penn Haven, a train would have to back up and pull forward onto NS.
Is it rare to ride the R&N north of Jim Thorpe and see an NS freight along the way?
Wow, to see this line still in operation is a treat! I remember when it was still owned and operated by NS.
Grreat video grreat rr
Nice variety of catches! Nice scenery too!
Way too much power. 😁
No such thing !!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cool!
i recognize that music
We were at Pittston and had a great time
Great chase nice to see LVRM at the end
Like the H66 and the LGSR meet at Coal. Both had great timing.
cant believe 4822 is already dirty
Awesome video!
Always a great spot to hangout at!
god, 4109's horn sounds terrible
My primary train route to Hoboken from Denville when I worked for PANYNJ at Exchange Place in Jersey City (also used the HBLRT daily).
Is this the ont that runs thru the battlefield and crosses 30 going towards Chambersburg?
Awesome catch. Man 10K was long.
Nice video, likes from me !
Nice catch. I might try to catch it if I’m up there
I live on the old PRR line C&D restored. Great shots
Nice catches man!
Hi
I grew up in Staatsburg and have lots of picture and 8 mm films of trains passing at this location of the old station that was finally torn down in 1965
Would love to see the footage!
Very nice catch. Glad your back in NJ.
9:03 Type of BL32GH? Why it sound like a P32AC-DM's 7FDL-12 doppler? BL32DM
Nice vid but for Brewster I can only hear the railroad crossing sound
nice
YO! Very nice shots.
It's Becks, not Berks.
I live in MT Holly!!
Where is the location of the bridge across the Susquehanna River in the beginning of the video?
The bridge is located by Antlers on the Water just west of Newberry Yard. This bridge connects the Norfolk Southern's Buffalo Line with the Lycoming Valley Railroad.
It seems they only now originate at PN Sundays, normally they are WCGS
Always enjoy watching this shortline railroad! Are they still owned by pioneer lines?
Not anymore in September of 2022 they were bought by patriot rail and currently owned by them, as the locomotive here says the company name on it, used to have some nice classic locomotives now down to just 3 but with new ones coming in the future here soon actually since they will do tour rides again next year
@@livanplaza5068 cool! Thankyou!
