Hi Alex. For the moment, all is well for me, closed at home. I listen to music, I play (badly) the guitar and I await your videos. This SY1000 is truly incredible. Thanks Alex. I wish you the best
Alex... this seems like what I'm looking for. I am a live/studio musician (with like 1/3 of your awesomeness but you catch my drift), and I need both the possibility to do synth or access to different guitar models and tunings. I like this!
#293 view this A.M. Alex good morning! I hope this finds you in good health! Stay strong my friend! Great Demo! Great playing as always, very informative. Love that individual string assignment! Have a great day!!!! peace ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
Stellar playing and review - oh the possibilities! Thinking to throw the GK + SY-1000 on a guitar with a tremolo bar and sustaniac pickup. Do you have any insight how well these would work with the system?
Thanks for the great video presentation. It is always a pleasure to watch you play! One question: as I could briefly note from the video, you need to install the special GK-3 pickup to make the thing work. I presume it is a BOSS pickup?
Yes sir, it's a Roland GK-3 pickup, this can be installed onto almost any guitar or there are guitars with it built in.. This is the Fender version with it built in , there are also Godin versions and other brands too. Thx very much for watching and all the best.
Cool, yes indeed they are great. There's just so much to cover in these things it's almost impossible to get through it all... Thx for watching mate and all the best.
I was at a gig once with the GP-10 and my strat low e string was out so I tuned it up, then all the pickups sounded the same, then I realised it was a strat model in drop d. True story.
this is fantastic overview as usual Alex! Can the alternate tunings be applied to a 12 string as well? That is something I miss in my GR55..For example if I want to play Hotel California in the original Em shape using a 12 string transposed 7 steps up to a Bm! Is that possible?
If my strings are physically tuned to drop C instead of standard tuning, will that cause any problems while using the GK3 in terms of the algorithm of the modelled tunings?
That's a very interesting point... I've not tried it but what I would say is it's important that the tension isn't too loose.... But technically It should work the same. Cheers for now 👍🎸🙏
Hello Alex Very pro presentation, I want your opinion about “ FINE TUNING” that is available for each string. Can that be possible on specific notes, like vg8 ( has that future ) . Please let me know if u can. Greetings from ALBANIA 🇦🇱
Alex do you offer patch downloads for various guitars? Such as Les Paul, rickenbacker and rickenbacker12 string, jazz gretsch style, etc?? I know you’re a master at tweaking patches so that’s why I’m asking?
Hi Robert, Yes I would say they are quite similar but the SY has a few more features and a lot more power of course. But depending on what you're using it for the GP could also satisfy you... for example if you're using it for alternate tunings and a few basic synthy style tones. All the best
Nice demo, I have been thinking of buying a used VG99 but am curious if SY1000 is the update to the VG99 plus a bunch of synth stuff thrown into the box as well. I am curious if the SY1000 has the same routing ability of the VG99 or improved. I am assuming the SY1000 has better dsp capabilities . Great playing as usual, Alex. I've seen demos of the SY1000 and was not impressed by all of the fizzy sounding presets of synth stuff but after watching your demo I am impressed by the guitar sounds, which is what I'm looking for. I have a GP10 but can't layer guitar sounds on it like I see the VG99 can. Any tips or comments would be appreciated.
Hello Sir, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. You're quite right the SY-1000 certainly does contain a higher power DSP and modern features. You can also layer 3 instruments along with your regular guitar tone, i.e. Three different V-guitars so definitely there are more possibilities for sure. I hope that helps. All the very best
Hi there, Thx for watching, I'm sorry I'm not familiar with what problems you're referring to... It's been a while since I used my trusty old GR but I don't recall any specific issues. What's the issue mate?
Hey mate, that's a very good question, I'm not with the unit right now but my hunch would be absolutely yes.... I don't see why it wouldn't I'll have to try it to be 100% Is that the tuning you prefer to use then?
It's funny - I did a demo with the old VG-99 in both 440 and 432 to see what the difference was. I haven't checked it out on the SY-1000 yet but I have every reason to believe it should work.
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Alex, I have one more question. If I put a GK-3 on my guitar, can I switch between my normal pickups and the GK-3? What I mean is, play my guitar like it sounds without the GK-3. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. 😂
You were my first introduction to BOSS products, specifically with the ME-70 demos. I bought one after watching your demos.
Now I am a fan of both.
Awesome, yes I remember the ME-70 days, a very powerful FX unit and 10yrs on this incredible pedal lands.... Wishing you all the very best

As always. Amazing play and amazing review.
Thank you Pavel

Great playing - there some cracking tones in there & the wah sound is awesome. Might start saving!!
Thank you mate, Glad you enjoyed the video. All the best to you.

Thx Dana, all the very best to you too.😎
Thank you sir Alex. This is absolutely a great review video. Love to see you play at the same. Have a nice day
Cheers Steve, all the very best to ya.

Uh oh.... Kenny is in trouble.... 😂 You just opened the door to a ton more possibilities 😂
Finally, guitars are catching up with keyboards.
Great video. Thanks. 👍🏻

Fascinating - thanks for the videos. Does it have to be a GK3 pickup or would it work with Graphtech Ghost Midi system?
Thank you Rik, my recommendation would be to use the GK 3 but for sure the Ghost System will work. All the best and thx for watching.
Bright Humbucker is my favorite modeled guitar tone in the 1000.
Cool, yes indeed they are great. There's just so much to cover in these things it's almost impossible to get through it all... Thx for watching mate and all the best.
Hi Alex .great playing as always .. huge fan ..
Would it be possible to only use the sy 1000 as a main processor. ? For distortions. Clean. Tones ..
I was at a gig once with the GP-10 and my strat low e string was out so I tuned it up, then all the pickups sounded the same, then I realised it was a strat model in drop d. True story.
Hahahah Classic.I hope you got through the rest of the gig ok.. ;-)

@@AlexHutchingsMusic Yeah I figured that out and have purchased the unit..Its a great one! Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

great info.. would it work as guitar modeller going into a helix amp modeller?

Wonderful.
Cheers dude.
Hi! Great job!
Can I make a patches with a different tunes and save it to fast change with a foot switch?
How would you compare the guitar modelling and alt tuning between the SY1000 and the GP10? It seems to be the same to me...
Hi Robert, Yes I would say they are quite similar but the SY has a few more features and a lot more power of course. But depending on what you're using it for the GP could also satisfy you... for example if you're using it for alternate tunings and a few basic synthy style tones. All the best

Hello Alex, does the Boss SY-1000 have the same problems with the switching delay as the Roland GR55? Especially in modelled guitar mode .
Hi there, Thx for watching, I'm sorry I'm not familiar with what problems you're referring to... It's been a while since I used my trusty old GR but I don't recall any specific issues. What's the issue mate?
I mean a slight lag when switching patches with the GR-55. A seamless change of patches is impossible.
Can it do a proper 12-string emulation? I've tried a couple of pedals that supposedly accomplish that, but they never do. They just sound organ-like.
Yes mate, here's an example 8seconds in th-cam.com/video/LjrToj6_1Lc/w-d-xo.html
I think it's pretty convincing... All the best
that is a clever device
Yes mate, it certainly is. Thx for watching and all the best.
Are there any artifacts or latency with alternate tunings as there are with the Drop Pedal and others?
Is there an instructional link rather than showing. Great video btw
Does the pitch shifting still work properly if you tuning to 432hz
Hey mate, that's a very good question, I'm not with the unit right now but my hunch would be absolutely yes.... I don't see why it wouldn't I'll have to try it to be 100% Is that the tuning you prefer to use then?

Boss sy 1000 synthesizer If you have transpose please show it to me thanks in advance
Hi Alex. can it trigger external synths?
Yes mate, in fact my next video will be on this topic.. Coming in a few days time. Cheers for now.
👏👏🎸🔥
Cheers Tony.😎
Hmmm........ could I store say 60 tunings in this thing without having to put the special pickup on my guitar????
I'm afraid you would still need the pick up to do that or a guitar with it built in like this one. It's called a Fender GC-1 All the best 👍🙏🎸
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Thank U.....

Alt tuning is very unstable and wobbly compared to VG 99
🇧🇷🇧🇷
this is cool stuff, but the background playing while you're talking and not playing is distracting to me
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the feedback.. Duly noted and will consider for future videos. All the best
