I made a Mosaic Image of The Sun using The Daystark Quark!

  • With no astronomical darkness here at 56 degrees north, I thought I'd try some solar imaging using the Daystar Quark Hydrogen Alpha filter. I haven't had much experience with solar imaging, so the long days here during this time of year present an opportunity to gain more - especially with the Daystar Quark. Given that the configuration of the kit I was using meant I could not get the whole disk in the field of view, I thought I would try and take multiple images and stitch them into a mosaic. I've never tried this before - so find out how I got on!!
My usual disclaimer: As with all my videos, I don't claim to be an 'authority' on the subject in question, but hope my understanding and personal experience of it are helpful to others, as other peoples have been to me. I should also make it clear that I have no affiliation, financial or otherwise, to any of the products or vendors I may refer to.
    Thanks for watching!

Lovely final image there Doc. Never imaged the Sun so don't know much about it. The sunspot group that caused the recent aurora has come around again i believe. Clear skies bud.

Cheers Rob!!! Its a start as I havent done much either. Had the quark for a while but for various reasons havent used it much. Got some nice images from last auroral display. Hoping to do some timelapse if the opportunity arises. Hope all is well down south!
