You know Magic loves his part in Larry’s Legend. And he never fails to give Larry a mention when it’s his turn in the spotlight. Love them BOTH. ❤

In Larry's contract at the end of his career Larry had a clause that on August 15th his contract would automatically renew for 4.5 million dollars.. about a week before the deadline Larry went into tell them he would be retiring before the 92-93 season because his back was just too bad. Dave Gavitt president of the Celtics told him to take a week and think about it. Basically the contract would automatically renew and pay Larry the 4.5 million even if he retired... it's been said that Larry narrowed his eyes and looked right back at Dave and said "I know what date it is, and if I'm not going to play I'm not going to take the money" 😂 the Celtics were more than willing to give it to him but he just wasn't that kind of man. What a legend🏀🎯🐐

I love the standing ovation they gave Birds mother! A lot of love respect from Boston towards Larry & his family ...it's just awesome. 💕 I don't know of any other player ...where the fans bought tickets just to be there for the retirement ceremony! Thank you for this, I never watched it, in it's entirety, & it was quite a pleasure, Thank You 😊 One of the things that is so noticeable, is that this team loved the game of basketball, had a great sense of humor, & sportsmanship, and above all, loved Larry Legend!!! And you are absolutely right, I have never seen a set of brothers, that look so much alike, they could have been quadruplets!!! From what I read about Larry Bird's children, is that he has a biological daughter with his 1st wife, who is in the Health Field, and adopted a boy (Connor) and a girl, with his second wife. Connor bird likes to stay out of the limelight, and has chosen not to go into basketball, or sports, & there is less information on the adoptive daughter.

Just speaks to how truely outstanding Magic was.

Only the true goat got this type of treatment-a sold-out 2 hour ceremony on an off-game night. Even some of the Boston news broadcasters were complaining that they couldn’t get tickets. The proceeds from ticket sales went to local charities. There’s a longer version of the ceremony in which each player on the three championship teams are individually introduced as they come out.

Magic was smarter than everyone else because he knew what kind of star Larry was.
He understood that he was a great player himself but that there was something extraordinary happing with Larry legend in the house.
Magic knew that Larry legend was bigger than basketball, the NBA or race.
I grew up in these days, but I wasn't watching basketball. I remember people crying when Magic came out with HIV.
I was never a Magic Johnson fan although he deserves the love, until I saw him respect Larry Bird.
That reverence and respect is incredible and both men are legendary HOF all-time greats. Thankfully, they battled each other for all to see.
I think Magic Johnson is the biggest Larry Bird fan there ever was, and to his credit, he was able to pull off big wins against Larry legend.
Today, I love Larry Bird, but at the same time, I realize that Magic Johnson loved him before I knew either of them, so in my book, Magic Johnson is a badass motherf*cker.

Conner Bird is the adopted son of Larry Bird. During his early years after high school he was arrested for a situation with his girlfriend at the time. Since then Conner stated all he wants to do is to be able to be himself. He is not the same size as his father and apparently basketball was never a thing for him. Since the situation with his girlfriend and his arrest he has stayed out of the spotlight and kept his life and details private. So that is the nutshell version of Larry’s son.

One thing that really sucked about the Dream team is the network that televised their games would cut away as soon as they would get ahead. That network was so stupid, they didn't understand people wanted to see the Dream team play. They knew they were going to win and when big before the game ever took place. For some reason I forget which network it was but they didn't televise the games they would cut away soon as the Dream team would get ahead a little bit. I was so p***** off. They should sell the videos to those games. Because I'd love to see the whole game, because we never got to see it

the amazing thing about this is that its a sold out arena without a game after the ceremony. It was unheard of in these times.

I was watching the Steal game in a bar. Minutes before? Noisy as hell, regular bar. I'm a Celtics fan dejectedly watching ... then the steal. Me and a couple of other dudes jumped up screaming. And? It was weird. Bar went quiet for like a split second. And erupted.
