I never ever comment on youtube vids, but you deserve it :) I really like your outlook, and your vids are giving me the confidence to go out and try and do something with my old Focus. I too have a 135 turbo. Had it for a year or so, but never had the balls to use it lol. I have always wanted to repair my rotten motors lol but your vids give me a kick up the arse to actually go for it. Keep doing what you do bud :)

Seemed I missed a couple of these transit vids what a treat lol. The fuel tank was fairly close under there so I was a little uneasy welling up sills, but I just wrapped it in a fire blanket and put a sheet of metal can't be too safe when welding! Good job Martin.
Hi Martin, Great work on the van, And great idea to stagger transplanting your veg, so prolonging the harvesting of them, Once transplanted though don't forget to regularly water (at least once a week) with a liquid tomato feed. Superb Martin, yes it is a big job, but you are mastering it like a pro, good on ya mate, will be strong as anything, will look good and last for ages, what more can you ask for, that wheel arch leading edge could be tricky, but you will master that as well no probs

iv got the exact same job to do on my transit plus a new clutch and windscreen I'll do it all myself and I might even make a few videos about it, I'm the same as you not a welder by any means but I am a HGV Mechanic so I think I'll be able to handle it. good videos mate keep it up.

I have a Ford e 250 that I bought all of the body parts to replace there all rusted out my body guy backed out of the job after watching you I think I might do it myself
from 4:00 when your welding there is a white partial hexagon shaped box on the middle top of the screen. Is that some kind of ventilation system for the van? Just curious
+retrorestore I noticed the same box on my van when working on it, it used to belong to Manchester police so I thought it was there for hiding something like keys...

Hi , did the mot tester say anything about that piece of angle steel only being welded in a few places ? I understand why( because there are high a low points ) As it Dosent look like a continuous seam weld along the whole piece? I’ve just done the same on my transit after watching the video. What you meant to say was that learning a new skill has meant you can take it with you, so therefore has become a 'TRANSFERABLE' skill to use in other jobs you may do.

I think I had the first switch on 1 and the second on Max for welding the thin panels 1mm sheet and the wire feed set on 6-7. The settings are on the inside the door as well as the wire size. I think I did go over the settings in one of the vids. Cheers Martin

Ah yes, the old Murphy's law things of when you run out of something, it will be when the shop's shut. l always try and keep a spare reel of wire, bottle of gas and some nozzles (maybe even a shroud as well, but they don't need changing as often) for this reason. The smaller bits I keep them in the bottom of the welder where the wire reel is, so I know where they are. Well, I would if I currently had a welder (long story) :( Have you thought of getting a cheap gazebo that you can throw up just to keep the lighter rain off?
mrman17 , Yes I did have a spare bottle of gas and a shroud but not a tip. I am normally ok under the car port but that side of the van should have been the other way around and i wouldn't get wet. Cheers Martin
