  • Bell 214ST C-GDYZ is seen on the approach and landing at CZNL. Unfortunately the Bell 214 Super Transporter touched down behind some fuel tanks, so not the best view. This aircraft is seen carrying a longline bucket for wildfire fighting. This rare and massive helicopter was a very cool visitor to see at CZNL, the rotor of the 214 is truly massive!

    Even though some fuel tanks blocked the view on touchdown, you got a great shot of the approach. A very nice looking heli! Good work, mate :)

    According to helis.com there are only three Bell 214ST in Canada, C-GDYZ being one of them, all owned and operated by Helicopter Transport Services. Very rare indeed, especially out here in BC.

    that 214 S T must be the only helicopter around that is so big with just the two rotors , . . . . .. . did bell have a reason for that concept . . . they did break the sound barrier with the bell X - 1 after all .

    Awesome video. That would be something I'd love to see! I've seen a 212 flying and hovering close up but never seen these kinds of choppers performing aerial firefighting. Also, do you know the difference between this and a 212? I assume they are broadly the same.

      @TheHDAviation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! This 214ST was a really cool one to see. I'm not sure the differences between the 212 and 214ST. I think they were developed from the same family. Hope you catch one some day!

    • @javierjosechavezbenitez3707
      @javierjosechavezbenitez3707 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Nybotor1
      Here's the difference: the 214ST - which means "Super Transporter" or "Super Transport", has a larger rotor, a longer fuselage with more seating capacity and extra side windows, a prominent fairing for the rotor and engines, and sundry other modifications and upgrades. Power is also greatly enhanced: the 212 has about 1,800 shp total from a Canadian Pratt & Whitney PT6T "TwinPac" power system; the 214ST seen here, on the other hand, boasts more than 3,000 hp, from its two General Electric CT7 turboshafts, producing 1,625 shp each. To put things in perspective, these also power the Saab 340 airliner and the S-70 Blackhawk (they exist as turboshafts and turboprops alike).
      Most of these differences apply over the Bell 412 as well, being largely a 4-blade variant of the 212.
      I look forward to visit Your Channel someday.
